I don't think we will ever see Episode 3. Not for many years to come, unless they put a teaser at the end of Portal 2.

Now that you've pointed it out, i'm rather amused.

I mean, valve fanboys are hilarious as it is. This makes it funnier.

Ya at this point they should just release a whole new half life and just forget about releasing another episode.

Unless of course they released episode 3 about a month before they released half life 3. That would be cool with me assuming that it dosent take another 10 years.

Now that you mention it... damn. It's more depressing than anything. But you never know. Valve could just as well pull a surprise on us. *crosses fingers*

I like to think that the people who knew what Episode 3/Half-Life 3 was gong to be about were called away to save the universe. In hope that their colleagues would yet return victorious from their epic battle against the forces of darkness, Episode 3 was left untouched, ready for when their gallant troops returned as heroes, and finished it off spectacularly.

Anyway, slightly annoyed. I believe 'miffed' is the word.

be truthful guys do you ever really think you will see it anytime soon? valve has put off making for other games e.g. portal, l4d and a few still in development do you really think they realease anything when they can make easyer games like portal or l4d that require alot less effort?

note-if you disagree i respect that im just saying what i think

Yeah, I second that. At this stage a full sequel on a new engine would be the only way it won't be a huge let-down.

At least Valve was doing something in the meantime, like Portal, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress... 3DRealms gave us squat while developing an eternal game, so no, I don't feel annoyed.

Maybe I don't see what all of you do, but I don't see any relation whatsoever and have no feelings on the matter.

That being said, haven't people been waiting much longer for Duke Nukem Forever than they have been for Episode 3?

I personally find it hilarious, 'by taking this episodic approach we hope to deliver more content on a regular basis' (I believe those were the words of Gabe Newell himself in the Orange Box audio commentaries).

You might complain about DNF being a brown, sci-fi FPS but at least I can play and enjoy it while you're all still sitting around waiting for any sign of hope on the horizon.

Who's laughing now?

Because a game that's been in production a lot longer is coming out before a game that's not been in production for as long (if at all for that matter)?

It takes a strange man to find hilarity in logic.

DOESN'T NEED A NEW ENGINE.

OT: You won't get a year of DNF. As soon as the first copy is sold the universe will collapse in on itself - honestly, what do they teach people in science lessons these days?

Wasn't the whole point of making episodes to ease the pressure on Valve and allow them to pump out shorter game, faster and cheaper? It's not like they're making a whole new IP it's part 3 of a stroy they've been working on this whole time. They have the engine, the characters, the setting and should have a conclusion.

Now while I don't personally have alot invested in HL 2 (still haven't finished Half Life 2), I fully understand why fans are getting bent out of shape. Whats even worse is when the studio stays hush hush so people have no idea whats really going on. I hope for Valve's sake they are just making a HL 3, as releasing a final episode at this point won't carry nearly the same weight it would of had 2 years ago.

Umm... let's see, a game that's been in development forever coming out before a game that is not in development. I don't get how you're surprised.

duke nukem already came out! and it was so kneecap-disentegratingly, jaw-droppingly, pelvic-thrustingly awesome that no one seems to remember it.

Should I be upset? They're both different games, developed by different studios. I mean, surely that's just like saying I should be upset that inFamous was released a week earlier than Prototype, isn't it? There's no point of it.
