How do you like this new trend of releasing HD versions of old games?

I think the people working on those projects could be put to better using making new games. However since backwards compatibility is no longer common it is a good way to play games you missed out on. I'm not a huge graphics person so I don't care much for the facelift. It's nice on HDTVs but an old game on a CRT TV still looks good. The issue is old games on HDTVs look like crap.

I have no real problem with it, but expecting full price for it is a bit unfair.

I have yet to see one for full price, the only ones that get close have multiple games in it so you're paying like $20 for each game or less.

I love HD re-releases. I've got MGS, DmC, Halo CE A and SH HD (which I loved and am apparently the only one who loved it on this site)

I think their good ways of introducing classic games to "new" gamers. Now that gaming is more mainstream lots of people are starting this generation and would have missed out on some classics 10 years ago.

Don't worry I enjoyed SH HD too! Okay, the chainsaw noise is absolutely terribly done (the noise doesn't come til maybe about 3-4 seconds after you've swung) but besides that I've enjoyed it so far (only played SH2)

But yeah, I love me some HD re-releases

id like it more if they released Dark Cloud and Dark chronicle so far all other HD re releases haven't exactly set my world on fire

I sort of like it and sort of don't. The thing is a lot of what's being done to these games can be done for free on the PC through either emulation or modding... So it strikes me as kind of meh, especially for games that really aren't very old. I'd rather see games from 1997 getting remade, as they generally could use the facelift.

Let's focus on getting HD releases of Star Wars: Battlefront and Timesplitters first.

THEN, we can worry about everything else.

I don't see anything inherently wrong with HD re-releases. I've bought a few (specifically, Jak & Daxter, Okami, God of War, and the Ico/Shadows of the Colossus thing), but that was driven mostly by no longer owning a PS2 and wanting to play through them (except for Okami, that was because I couldn't take the Wiimote controls for the thing, drawing was great, but the combat controls were just bad).

I don't mind it, but I haven't seen one that I actually want to get. MDK2 came close, but the slight improvements didn't seem worthy of buying the same game again. Maybe on a Steam sale of less than $2.

I think that whenever possible, people who got the original game, should get the enhanced version (not just HD remakes) for free. If CD-Projekt can afford to do it, then the big publishers certainly can.
