Seriously though, there was one guy (don't know the name sorry) who was banned for saying he didn't like the Codec sequences on a thread about whether or not you like MGS's storyline. It just didn't make sense to me, so I was wondering if maybe he'd posted something else that was removed.

Another question I've always wondered about is: how do you go about being un-banned?

depends on how stupid you are, if you're racist, homophobic or a spam bot getting banned is quite easy.

Being perma-banned requires either a huge litany of reports over the course of many years (in the case of Escapist veterans who've been banned), or one single giant dicked Mudkip being F'd in the A picture.

It's actually quite hard, you have to build up a reputation and get suspended at least once.

Or post a thing advertising a vibrator. That's the easy way.

Single events can get bannage. Fish food carl was a model user (ish) until he threw a hissy fit at the mods. Straight into ban territory.

But, you joined after he was banned, and the page was deleted..... how ever could you know about this?

What happened to him?

Let's face the facts. Max was a complete and utter asshole, but one cannot deny he was a big part of the community.

His problem was that he kept pushing boundaries and one several occasions overstepped the foggy grey zone between what is and isn't acceptable forum behavior, almost as if he thought he could get by on his popularity. I guess he didn't count on the Mods snapping back.

Yes, however the ban blocks your IP. So it's incredibly difficult.

OT: Very easy, as long as you don't say anything stupid or uninformed, you're safe.

The moderators use their discretion. I have noticed that if someone is persistently sniping at other people from just inside the boundaries of acceptable behaviour they are more likely to go than someone who loses it once and goes on a rampage. This isn't a bad thing in my opinion. I have seen forums ruined by people that get up to that crap.

If your general attitude is that you want to post stuff, but not make the forums a worse place to be for other people, then you are pretty much safe.
