How easy is it to get perma-banned?

Well it's ridiculously easy to get put on probation and suspended. So I'm guessing the answer is "Fairly easy".

I called a kid saying his life was over because of RRoD a "Pathetic little cretin" and got suspended. And I had a valid post with that statement in (nutshell) "There's worse things than RRoD."

Suspended. Lovely.

Anything against the forum guidelines really..all you had to do it go there.
Ways to get banned: One word posts, threats, using to anger in a post (aka being a big fat meenie head), trolling, and spamming.

Yes, however the ban blocks your IP. So it's incredibly difficult.

OT: Very easy, as long as you don't say anything stupid or uninformed, you're safe.

It's also harder when your first post getting back is admitting you've been banned (Yes I've seen it happen).

Just out of interest. I've seen a number of people have been banned on these forums, but when I follow the link to the page which was the reason for the ban there doesn't seem to be anything incriminating. What are the standards like here?

the mods dont always ban someone because of something they did right there and then.


its a reputation and actions one has done over their entire time here at the escapist, and usually they just pick the first post they find for that person and link it to the ban so they can ban them faster.


yes perma bans are well deserved, no they are not always self explanatory.

Sometimes the reason may seem like a minor offence, but they've been posting stupid/offensive things for an age - see NoMoreSanity.

pretty much if you defend your side with anger or say something contreversal you get warned and banned

depends how you defend you self, if you do it in the style of a debate and merely present your case without using offensive words your all right. In my experience anyway.

And depends how controversial you are; there's a difference between "I think half life 2 is a poor example of story telling because..." and "Reasons why women should stay in the kitchen"

I'd guess it depends on how determined the person in question is to get themselves banned.
The forum guidelines explain a lot.

there is one incredibly simple way to get permb&, possibly v&. NOTE I CANNOT IN ANY WAY RECOMMEND IT, AND IT IS ENTIRELY ILLEGAL, IMMORAL ETC. DO ... NOT ... DO ... IT.
