I'm frankly surprised I haven't been banned yet. I've only been suspended once since I joined here, and that was for posting up a Holocaust joke,(which in retrospect I had hours to change it, have no idea why I didn't)that was it.
Alot of my posts I thought I would instantly be banned for, if not suspended again, what with alot of swearing and name calling in retaliation in some. I guess I just have that ability to walk on the tightrope with my words

Let's just hope now that I don't get banned for having admitted all of that.

Just out of interest. I've seen a number of people have been banned on these forums, but when I follow the link to the page which was the reason for the ban there doesn't seem to be anything incriminating. What are the standards like here?

the mods dont always ban someone because of something they did right there and then.


its a reputation and actions one has done over their entire time here at the escapist, and usually they just pick the first post they find for that person and link it to the ban so they can ban them faster.


yes perma bans are well deserved, no they are not always self explanatory.

lol, I didn't think of that reference, but I wish I had, because it's very good. I've said similar things before. That's the thing with the Escapist, and it's perhaps one of the better things - your probation/suspension record never goes away. That one offhand remark you made about some kid who killed himself pretending to play halo? Yeah, it's still there.

And one day, with enough of those, you will get the ban. The escapist forum is like an elephant, it NEVER forgets your transgressions. If you are of a certain type of personality, who must be always right, and who doesn't consider the feelings of others with their posts, you will NOT survive here indefinitely. It may take you several years to amass the report-list that just tells the mods "yeah, just cut that ************ loose, we don't need him here anymore"

What happened to him?

Let's face the facts. Max was a complete and utter asshole, but one cannot deny he was a big part of the community.

His problem was that he kept pushing boundaries and one several occasions overstepped the foggy grey zone between what is and isn't acceptable forum behavior, almost as if he thought he could get by on his popularity. I guess he didn't count on the Mods snapping back.

Can anyone explain what happened to NoMoreSanity? I remember him when I first joined...never see him so I'm guessing ban?

My thoughts as well, not wishing to be mean OP, but yeah this seems like a strange post.

Honestly I think the plain and most obvious way is to just be needlessly nasty to people on an endless loop. Though a strange trend I've seen is that making a post that simply says 'Lolwut' is a guarenteed way to get you banned as I've seen it happen three times now.

It's actually quite hard, you have to build up a reputation and get suspended at least once.

Or post a thing advertising a vibrator. That's the easy way.

Linking adultz stuff/images, anything tasteless, and refering to some competition that happened in march are the easy ways (Mods - I joined in may, I does'nae know what happened. Ignorance = bliss!)

Well it's ridiculously easy to get put on probation and suspended. So I'm guessing the answer is "Fairly easy".

I called a kid saying his life was over because of RRoD a "Pathetic little cretin" and got suspended. And I had a valid post with that statement in (nutshell) "There's worse things than RRoD."

Suspended. Lovely.

Or you can always go the easy way of posting hardcore pornography or something. Although I'm not sure if that's going to get you banned first time, they might just edit the post and suspend you - never seen it happen. You can be the first! You go, an hero!

It is. A user a while back by the name of Darth Empyrean got what would have been a suspension upgraded to a flat-out ban because she used porn links in the hotlinks.

I've always kinda wondered which kind of porn she picked out for me--I kinda assume I was on the 'F.U.'

The only two people I know for sure were on the list were me and Cheeze_Pavilon.
