How long do you usually go out before sex?

It depends. In my first relationship, when I was still a virgin, we waited like 4 months before having sex (I was 21 at the time). I'm just beginning my second relationship now, with someone who has been my best friend for the last year, and it began with sex.

I've also had a number of one night stands, and one "friends with benefits" thing. If we consider "seeing each other" to be from the first kiss, the friends with benefits sex happened after ten days, and the others range from about 3 days to roughly 6 minutes. Heh.

So, I guess it just depends on the person and the situation.

Personally, I've got two different answers:
1) If either of you are virgins or really not experimented the answer is : take it slow, do it when everybody's comfortable.
2) If the two of you are experimented, the faster the better :p Ok, let me explain. Let's say you go met a girl at a party, you find her nice. You call her the next week to take a beer. Why not have sex the sooner as possible ? If you do, you'll find if you too are sexually compatible ! Otherwise, you could really like this girl... wait too long for the sex and, when this sex comes, both of you will be uncomfortable. The moment will seem forced and you'll REALLY be more afraid that she (or you) doesn't like it (because you like, perhaps even LOVE, her).

My two cents :)

It is illegal and impossible to divide by zero, so ask me later unless you want me to break the laws of physics/math and open a hole in the space-time-continuum. Probably MUCH later given my luck (or lack thereof) of even getting a casual first date. College doesn't look very kindly on the social/love-lives of engineering majors.
Where do you currently live ? I'm just finishing my master's in engineering and the social/"love-life" was awesome ! Ok, I had to prove that I didn't live up to stereotype on computer engineer, but, after that, damn !

Well I knew my girl friend for around 3 months before we went out and we had sex on the first day we started going out. That was over four years ago and we are still going strong.

Sadly I'm one of the pathetic who actually thinks they should wait until they think they've met someone special. After that though....
I'm the same way, actually. I've had a lot of opportunities before I met my gf, but never did it basically because it didn't feel right. I wanted to, but I knew that I would regret it later if I did. I think it's better to wait until you find someone you care about, expecially for the first time, but after that, sometimes it's an itch you just need to fuck scratch. XD

Still a virgin. Don't want the first guy to be a pig or someone I don't particularly care for so I've been holding my breath for a decent one here.
That was how my gf thought too. Then we met and have been together for almost a year. This month will actually mark our year anniversary. Don't worry, there are some good guys out there, you just need to be patient and know where to look.

The middle of Kansas... Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad place, just boring. But yeah, WSU's Aerospace department is one of, if not, the best in the country, so the professors take this shit seriously, which unfortunately tends to make us students work like dogs and barely scrape a social life out of our experience. It also doesn't help that basically any woman I would be looking for to date either avoid this college, hide themselves away, or are already dating someone else. Help...me...!

...well, I've never tried picking women up at bars, it just seems too cliche, and they tend to be on the defensive, from what I've seen. I've never actually had a "one night stand" either. There were a few casual relationships that started as sex at a house party somewhere, and more than one of what I consider a "distant co-worker"... someone who works for the same company/battalion/brigade/civilian company, but not in the same area.
My current girlfriend I met as a friend of a friend, at a party I was hosting... I was having sex with her within 8 hours of meeting her, and we've been at it for nigh on two years now.
That's one long lasting boner.

So, my fellow Escapists, how long do you usually go out with someone before you sleep together? Assuming you don't just exclusively go out to bars for one night stands.

Tell us your thoughts, feelings, and stories, my fellow Escapists.
It honestly depends on the individual.

My spouse and I had sex on our first date. We were in a park for the first part (we were alone, in an out of the way spot - what we didn't realize was a nature trail went overhead. We found out when we heard hikers cheering us on from above) and then headed back to my spouse's place for the main course, as it were.

On the other hand, there was this one girl I dated for months before we did more than kiss. She had some issues, though, so that probably isn't a fair comparison.

Generally, though, within the first three dates. It has historically been pretty easy to get into my pants. ^^
I'm tempted to say that you're not allowed to post in my threads because somehow it always feels like you're teasing me. XD

It's been two pages, so I guess I'll break the ice with this one: I'm waiting to be married :3

And yes, I am a female and yes I am a virgin.
I'm going to repond to this hopefully before any asshole does. Good for you. I hope that you find a good guy to be with that appreciates that. I know that a lot of people get crap for that, but I see nothing wrong with it.

I know, I know. That medical warning about "any erection lasting more than four hours" is total BS. I've had one for about 20 years.

It depends. Sometimes 1 date, other times a few. It depended on the person I was seeing. I've had a one-night stand and it freaking sucked.

As for my current relationship, I've slept with my GF every night I was with her but that was just sleeping, no sex yet. We've been together in some form or another for about 3 years and have fooled around but no full on sex quite yet. We both fear children *shudders*

I gotta say, from all your posts I've seen around the site, you definitely seem like a fun, easy-going, open-minded, and sexually-liberated person. Where was someone like you all my life? Seriously, having a friend even remotely similar to you when at middle/high-school would've easily gotten me out of my personal insecurities long ago.
