Some of my friends could get married, which would make them happy...so I suppose that'd make me smile?

Conclusion: Gay marriage makes me smile.

In ab-so-lutly no way whatsoever, the only possible way it could affect my life is if I were invited to the wedding.

I'd be happier knowing that gay people would be able to marry the people they are in love with just like everyone else.

It means I would be able to get married. It would be nice to have the option ten years down the road or something.

it wouldnt impact anything....for anyone....at all....

seriously if you are that bigoted to deny lawful rights to another person while giving those same rights to others that makes you as bad as any other oppressive group inflicting their "ideals" on a minority

I would no longer be able to call my gov't highly conservative bigots.
They would become moderately conservative bigots. (AKA a LOT of good jokes'd be lost)

On the other hand, my gay friends and relatives would be able to marry.

Those jokes would be missed, but sacrifices must be made.

You know all the people against gay sex should endorse gay marriage. It'll stop lots of gay sex since we all know once you get married, "NO MORE NOOKIE FOR YOU!!1!!"

It wouldn't effect my life; in any way

now lets put those bigot catholics in their place 6 feet under for stomping on human rights and claiming it's in the name of their imaginary friend God

(Encase you're wondering; I live in Northern California where Prop 8 was passed, and I had a family member have to leave the state in order to get married; those bigots cost me the last of my family; and I WILL MAKE THEM PAY!))

It's legal in Massachusetts.

And it doesn't affect me, although I'm glad it made all the bible-thumper rednecks move away.

i live in the Netherlands. Gay marriage is allowed. I don't notice it. Only rarely I see a same-sex couple. Days go by that I forget it's different in the rest of the world.

Honestly, I think gay people make better parrents than some "regular" couples do...
That's another common baseless argument tactic I've heard sometimes in the states. Some groups even push that if they are allowed to married they shouldn't be allowed to adopt. Funny thing, a 18 year study has been preformed here in the US about gays and lesbians parents raising children. They found nothing wrong with those said children other than one oddity: children around nine began exhibiting heightened homophobia related to bullying/stigmatization from their peers, but that those feelings typically went away around twelve. Study argued that while on paper they look to be better parents than straight people, it finished it with how it's because there less chance of accidental children. Since most of them have children when they're ready, they make better parents than the average but only up to the degree that any prepared straight couple would be.

It wouldn't since I am not gay. I don't care if homosexuals get married as long as I don't have to see public affection at least like kissing and stuff. Though lesbians can... I mean no no thats bad too! XD Dang hormones..!
Just go attend a Little Amazons [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gMUSG9Mgq4#t=07m27s] meeting.

I feel the need to point out that it's not necessarily left vs. right in this situation, as there are many people from many viewpoints supporting and speaking against gay marriage.

If gay people want to get married, let them. It won't impact my life in any significant way. Give gays the same rights straights have; no more, no less.

Personally, it wouldn't affect me at all. Globally, it would make gay couples acceptable in the eyes of the church. Though as that church is run by a man to whom I will one day soon write a drunken letter to along the lines of;
Dear Pope Palpatine

I no longer wish to be a part of your cult, as it has been proven to me beyond all reasonable doubt that my great great greatX1097 grandparents were in fact monkeys, not two fully formed, parentless humans conjured by an immortal space wizard. I will leave you now, as I am sure your empire, and your choirboys, need attending you. Yours unfaithfully, ...

So yeah, it really makes no difference to me.

It would affect me only bc my gf is one of those right winged ppl who believe that gay marriage would signal an end to the united states in such a profound way as no one would be able to recover. Besides her banter and subsequent arguments between her and myself when she notices I truly do not give a shit, it wont affect me too much...
You may want to leave her. She seems rather unintelligent and bigoted.
Irregardless when you have been together as long as we have you learn to make concessions to the small things. She hates gays, Democrats, and soft k's (as in knife). But you know what she doesn't hate? Me =)

I will say there is some truth in what you speak.

Rhetorical question is rhetorical.
Sadly though it's not really that rhetorical. There are loads of effects that can be gained by everyone if they thought about it. Hey, let's inject some more hypothetical thought into it. Most people say it wouldn't affect my life are really only saying it like that there wouldn't have any negative effects. What about the positive ones? Massachusetts saw $64 million in tax revenues and license fees over three years, as well as the spending on lesbian and gay weddings and tourism generated another $55.1 million. It ended up making more than 2,178 jobs.

I live in Tennessee which is busy thumping its bible so hard that I fear I might go deaf from the reverb. Right now 1/3 of the state has been classified as being in severe economic distress. Many school programs are in such distress that schools are closing and condensing. Unemployment is so drastic that unemployment agencies are extending coverage to 3 years when the US standard is 23 weeks to 1 year. If I asked any of them (and I have to many for one reason or another) "How would gay marriage affect your life?" They would all give either political or religious reasons, or they would say not at all as most have here.

It's kinda saddening.
I'm not sure, but you may have taking my (satirical) statement the wrong way. I meant it is a "rhetorical question" in that the answer should be immediately obvious: It won't have a negative impact and will have a positive impact. I'm all for it!

It wouldn't.

And i am not saying i believe but, hypothetically, if the christians and the bible are right, then gay marriage won't make them go to hell any faster than already being gay will, so fighting it is stupid.

Not at all, unless you mean if I married another man, in which case I would probably be uncomfortable at first but I would probably withhold sex, which is the only downside in my mind.
