Losing weight is painfully simple, Eat less and move more...Thats it.
WRONG. Its far, far harder to lose weight than gain it. It takes months of excersize and a better diet for the rest of your life to keep that extra weight off.
As a larger gentleman myself, i know how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off.
Of course, since i started climbing, i havent lost weight, but i have gotten skinnier and have a much increased muscle mass.
In rincple, i agree with the OP that fat people who make themselves fat and dont want to do anything about it should be the ones to pay for these extra beds and things, and they should d it without complaint. You should not however just ridicule people because of their physical characteristics.
As for the other thing, i dont really have a problem with it if the parents want it and they can afford it.

Oh and yeah, there was a time that being a fat guy was a sign of prosperity :p

Some guy who at least doesn't beat around the bush: he's fat because he eats too much and has no willpower, he freely admits. This man, I can respect. The lady... not so much.
Totally - the people who claim it's nothing to do with them are mostly idiots (I do appreciate that some people have conditions which result in the weight problem, but the majority do not)

That guy is awesome

Since your gender selection question is much more interesting, I'll answer that.

I'm pro-choice by a longshot, but killing your kids because they don't fit your standards is sickening. Plus, we'd be pretty screwed if this ever happened, we'd have a disproportionate amount of men in the world.

Couple of things do spring to mind for this thread.

First of all, I would guess everyone here has a mate or knows someone who can suck down three cheeseburgers and a gallon of ice cream and still be thin as a rail. Right? Is it not possible that the opposite is also true? For some people it is a hell of a lot harder than some of you may imagine.

Yes people with weight issues run the risk of developing health issues as dying early. There is a cost. But has anyone explored how that cost balances against those who live till their 90s and THEN develop cardiac issues etc? Can anyone say that either party is more or less of a burden? (I doubt anyone can answer that with anything other than guesses).

Yes there is a genetic element - I inherited the same eye defects as my mother and grandmother. Did I also inherit the same dodgy metabolism and chance of developing fat cells? Dunno, maybe.

Does it suck that the very high testosterone levels (for a woman) as well as the medications I use for chronic mental health problems fuck me up? Aye, I suppose it does. And this should be one reason you should watch your mouth.

Picture this - friend of mine (long since gone and badly missed) was walking with me in our local high street. Some wise ass makes a weight crack about her. I wanted to bitchslap him but she wouldn't let me. The steroids she was on for a brain tumour made her gain weight and retain water. They were necessary to reduce cranial swelling that was making her very ill and causing her black outs. The point, in case you don't have it already, is that until you walk a mile in that person's shoes you don't know a thing about them. So shut your yap you judgemental bastard....

Sorry about that, the anti-psychotics don't seem to be working today.

As for me, I did the healthy thing. And I lost a lot of weight. And then I became bulimic and started walking a six mile round trip to do an hours circuit training everyday while trying to get by on 600 calories. My BMI (bullshit scale that it is) did improve but the harm was done and is permanent. Why? Compulsion is part. And those fun things that the human mind does to itself. And the human mind is the main problem when it comes to weight loss - but there are hundreds of books on that, so look it up.

These days things are better. If I prefer steak and beer to salad and mineral water that is my business and none of yours.

I think fat people are icky. I don't care if they choose to be fat. But don't expect special treatment.

If you're too fat for one seat then you'll just have to pay for two.

If we went by weight you'd have to pay for two tickets anyway.
I'm hoping this wasn't sarcastic because well I agree with the basic thought. I'd phrase it as: I dislike fat people. If they are fat because of a virus then I hope they get a "cure." But the fat people who are fat because they don't stop eating...we get to be unfair to them. We're allowed to since we keep ourselves nice and thin and they eat themselves to fat hood and demand special treatment.

Apologies for the fact that, that was especially mean on my part but I feel it.

I seriously hope that the "we get to be unfair to them," thing was referring specifically to issues like the buying two plane tickets thing.

How is it discriminating when its about body type not race. Anyways yeah this is stupid. I could be wrong about the discriminating part.

here is my solution or answer to this. When you see a fatass chick walking on the sidewalk. go up to her and say "Put some clothes on that are more decent." If she says "Its my right to wear these clothes i don't have to listen to you. You just hate fat people." You should reply with "yeah you DO have a right to wear those clothes go work and lose the weight. No one is holding you back, there is no excuse (unless your obese because of a disease or something) for you being fat. Your just saying that so you can have all the good stuff without working for it. Well guess what Ms.! it's life and you need to work for it. Everyone has the right to wear those kinds of clothes, but its one of those things that needs to be earned. Not only will you look better being skinny and wearing those clothes, but you will also be healthy and have more energy. Just remember to eat right and exercise. Also dont worry about gaining weight from weightlifting, you will look fine with a pound or 2 more of muscle, the muscle helps burn fat a little quicker. You dont have to be very skinny, set goals and get down to a weight that fits you. you will be happy and so will everyone else that looks at you. Its a win win situation." I do understand that some people just cant because of a disease, those people should be treated kindly regardless of their weight.

Personally as an American I look around at all the fatties and wonder why we haven't begun harvesting them for energy, you know like coal or something.

Can somebody name me the disease that makes you fat?

I could kind of understand genetics forcing you to have a slow metabolism but a disease, really?

Hurm, I call bullshit on this fat acceptance.

I'm fat and I dislike myself, you should dislike me, too. It will motivate me more to lose weight.

I find fat, ugly, and stupid people to be the worst things to plauge the earth. It's completely retarded to try and force acceptance on people when its a poorly desguised excuse for fat kids not to get there feelings hurt. you dont want to made fun of pudge-o ?... excersise, get off your ass and burn a callorie.

Also if a woman wants to choose the selection of her child Go right a head. Being a satanist and thinking of some omnipresent and all powerfull god as a bad joke, i find no problem in this... unless it ends up screwing up the child BIG TIME. but im not a scientist so what do i know about that stuff?

You know you could have just typed "Gawd, why don't fat people just stop being fat," and you would have had the same effect. From what I understand losing weight is incredibly difficult as exercising whilst you're overweight is much much much much more difficult. I can also tell you from personal experience that suddenly and dramatically changing your eating habits is one of the more difficult things to do, I know this from personal experience when I tried eating vegitarian for a month.

When you see someone else smoking do you go up to them and demand they put it out? Hell if I see someone across the street from me wearing an ugly sweater is it entirely okay for me to harrass them for it because it was their choice to put it on, they should suffer the consequences.

Because as we all know, having a more sedentary lifestyle makes you sub-human scum that should be derided. Smoking? Binge Drinking? Drugs? No that's fine because that's not aesthetically displeasing. Fat people don't look nice though and deserve to be treated like the filth that they are.

You are a nasty person and I hope someone kicks the shit out of you one day because they don't like your hairstlye.

Yeah! That's what people did for one of my old overweight friends in High School and he fixed that problem by committing suicide. Now he's slimmed right down :D
