I am curious...why should God "have to be provable"?

Why God must be proven?
Because living a lie would be like not living at all.

We founded our entire evolution and awareness on the basic fundamental question "Why?"
Why this?
Why that?

If we didn't question, we wouldn't seek answers, and by that not claim "God"..

The whole concept of accepting God and falling stagnant in our search for knowledge, our desire to feed our heads, is repgugnant, to say the least.

We answer our question time and time again, just to be proven wrong. That is the whole purpose of awareness, to seek, to strive, to reach further.

"God" represents a 2000year old answer which satisfied a few and clinged on to our world, however, if the Truth is questionable, then how can it be true?

You can't deny the Truth when you see it,
you can't deny the atom, nor the gravity.
The flame burns every child and to this day you can't deny that it is hot,
but what child would take your word for it?

If God is the answer to the "Why?", then we have no need to strive further and have reached an end, by this time we need not live, breathe, nor die, for we have already the answer.
But we still do? Why?
That's right, because we still ask it. Why?
Why what?
Why God? Why accept? Why believe? Why stay stagnant? Why accept a lie?

I am not trying to spark a religious discussion.
Don't say "This will not end well...".

I am just simply requesting reasons as to why people would demand something along a scientific, provable, guidlines for personal self-reliance.
Basically what the guy above this post said.

Religion is all fine and dandy, but when statements are made that society should do this and that because it's what god wants, proof is desired.

Considering religion is pretty much known for doing exactly that that those who just want to be left alone respond, with the logical response, of asking for proof of existence, isn't all that far fetched, and dare I say, to be expected.

No philosphical reason for it, just pure logic at its simplest form.

Because of the millions of acts, good, heinous or otherwise, commited in 'God's will'.
It should be clear to anyone with half a brain that 'God's will' is interchangeable with 'my opinion,' yet millions take the former as word of law and the latter as word of crackpot.

Lack of faith, Man's never ending quest for knowledge,

Sometimes ignorance, it's different for for some people.

Technically it doesn't. It is indeed called faith because there need not be any proof. That being said I don't believe in god and will not ever unless his existence is proven...so it doesn't have to be proven but many people won't believe in it unless it is.

(plus it is a little rediculous I mean common)

Well there are many deitys and half of humanity doesn't believe in "God" but something else. The mere fact that there are lots of religions with completely different ideologies shows that the Bible simple cannot be true. But that still doesn't prove that a higher power doesn't exist.

Because people like to say "I'm right your wrong." It has less to do with religion than it does with human nature.

I cant see how God,which ever one were talking about, can be proven. How can something which apparently operates outside of natural laws ever be understood.
Believers should just be content to have faith and ignore the percieved antagonism.

Because there are two 'truths' in this world. Religion and Science. Science is provable, so everyone that believes in science comments about religion not being provable and thus being the lesser truth.

Wow, just came up with that on the spot.
Science isnt always proveable, science and religion are almost a ying-yang type realationship.

Like we know that everything is basicly atoms but we dont know why they are there and if someone created them or put them there.

What science dosnt know is religion. What religion dosnt know is science.
Science progresses and evolves however, new methods of testing are developed, new evidence is brought forward and old evidence is removed. Religion meanwhile always remains static, always says the same things and only adapts when science says no sorry thats absolutley provably wrong. How long did the church try and hold back gravity or the fact that the earth was quite obviously round?

Or that fact that they keep changing their minds yet continuously prattle on about being infalable like the roman church suddenly deciding limbo does not exist you cant change your mind one day and still claim to have all the answers does not work like that.

Because millions of people worship him for a long time and it would be the greatest "I'm right, you're wrong" moment if you proved them wrong

According to Quincy theory, it is technically impossible to change someone's beliefs, i could get God to come down from heaven and start performing miracles all over the place, and the hardcore atheists wouldn't believe its God,

So the question isn't really, can we prove God exists, or do we need to prove God exists, The question is, does the concept of a God, benefit society.

Personally i believe that the concept of a God, whether or not he exists, benefits society, without the catholic church, we never would have had the Renaissance, because the scientific/artistic movement started when the church (albeit through arguably corrupt means) brought enough wealth to Italy to allow for real scientific research. Also, the concept of a God, has shown to strengthen moral beliefs, (this is in general, don't quote me and complain about the suicide bombers, or the Kool-aid, or the mormon compound in Texas)

Everything in my life that I live by are proven things that exist, and if they aren't, I question them until I prove them.

I can't believe in something that cannot be proven, because "faith" to me just looks like "wishing", and time spent wishing is time wasted.

You know it makes little diifference to me if there is or isnt a God, I dont need proof of it, nor do I care for it, I used to be a christian, but ive lost alot of faith and Darwins theory's much more sence then God just pulling it all out of thin air, but theres also a book out there the ive heard of called star master(I Think) it was written aeons ago, it was about a man who blasts himself to space to find the star master, he visits other planets and finds other veriations of humans, and he eventually finds the star master who is infact God, he's started the big bang, he created us but in a more indirect way, created micro organisms through messing with particles and atoms the same way a scientist would, cuasing the big bang sends creatures such as flat worms, or star fish to planets and they evolve into what it now us, the star fish land on other planets that can sustain life and a different planet millenia away ours and creates a different evolutionary cycle on that planet.

Now this was a work of fiction but that to me would seem a more realistic look at God, as a giant scientist in the sky :).

But anyway, if God exists in the idea that religion trys to push on us, then in all honesty it makes little difference to me, I still wouldnt worship it, or think too much about it, or really care for it, I wouldnt say grace or prayers. See there kids starving to death in Africa becuase there not enough rain fall to make a real harvest, if God really gave a shit it would make it rain so the crops could grow, but it doesnt it's nice and content with watching them starve to death. So if it's happy watching millions die slow and painfull deaths, then do you really think it cares if one little insignificant person such as me doesnt worship it, I could walk out side and get hit by a car or be stabbed to death or a piano could fall through the sky and crush me to death and it wouldnt make a bit of difference to it, so if it thinks I'm going to devote my life giving a shit about it when he couldnt care less about me then I'm sorry God it aint happening I aint one of your sheep.

Can you link the study that shows a direct corrolation between belief and moral behaviour within a test group? One with peer reviews that is preferably not written by a christian scientist untill then I will have to say rubbish.

The difference between science and religion (as quoted from someone else on another religion thread), one is based on scientific discovery and the other on an invisible sky man who magic'd everything into existence.
