I betrayed my fellow PC gamers...

I don't understand why there's such an ugly stigma with liking the game and series. Like most people, I never went out proclaiming its glory to the mountains. I bought my special edition copies, played it online without incident(mute button is a beautiful thing), enjoyed the series, and eventually moved on to something new to take my interest.

Games aren't a holy crusade about who's right or wrong and how persons who use consoles for gaming are inferior, drooling idiots. Live and let live, or at least take the stick out of your ass about other people's interests. Dane Cook still sells out arenas doing his stand up, but that doesn't mean that I need to be out there picketing people and letting them know I think their comedy preference is stupid.

Stop moving goal posts and start being more clear; you didn't specify PC FPS games in your original post.

And if you think Operation Flashpoint [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Flashpoint] is mediocre, especially considering how active the community is, then I have nothing more left to say to such a dedicated fellow PC gamer.
I just figured it's common sense to compare FPS games to other FPS games and didn't feel the need to specify it. As for Operation Flashpoint, can't say I've played it, but that still doesn't mean Halo is not a good game. Other than that you're just being a prick now...

...and for the rest of you, I'd like to present Eggo as an example of what I've mentioned earlier. I said that I consider Halo a good game that measures up with other such games from its period, and I get nitpicking plus thinly veiled and mildly insulting sarcasm. Shame...

Ok, can you clear up one more thing for me? What's with all the "frat-guy" references? I've been hearing those for a while now, but I'm not quite sure what it's supposed to mean...
looooool

see above link

As for Halo being mediocre, I'd say it's better than that. Considering when it first came out, the PC market didn't exactly put out anything that year that blows it out of the water...
A quick Google search:

I wonder how much of a fellow PC gamer you really are.

Are you kidding? I believe Max Payne came out in 2001 , along with Icewind Dale, Baldurs Gate 2, and I wanna say counterstrike.

I personally have no problem with the first Halo, that was great. The Second Halo was even better still! However...Halo 3 *shudders* was like the creators listened to every BAD suggestion about the game and added it.

In the second one you had new weapons which replaced the old ones. I though this made sense, but then in Halo 3 they brought back the old ones, with the new ones. It was a pain in the ass. Plus the people behind Halo were being greedy and selling off books that you would have to read to get a full understanding of all the little untied ends in the game. The ending was stupid too.

Why would you compare BG2 or IWD to Halo?

Yeah. Why compare two of the best RPGs in the history of PC gaming to a mediocre PC game/overhyped console game (because it wasn't hyped on PC - why, if we have better FPS games)? That makes no sense.

It's like comparing Da Vinci to local graffiti "artists".

Err, actually, since that was your whole argument against it being mediocre earlier...I think it does.
Sooo... I need to play every game ever made before I can state an opinion?

Eggo said:
If you really think Halo measures up to Max Payne, Operation Flashpoint, and all the other great games that came out in 2001, then you're completely welcome to that opinion. But that also means I'm completely welcome to disparage your lack of understanding.
You're welcome to disagree with my opinion, but you are not welcome to insult my "understanding". As polite as your flaming is, it's flaming nontheless and if you can't discuss a topic without resorting to low blows, please don't post...

Except BG2 and IWD are RPGs and Halo is an FPS, so it's a case of Apples VS Oranges?

You played the first game, which is why you liked it. The first one is actually quite good, no matter how much people hate the series. The 2nd and 3rd one aren't really quite so good though.

Really, I think Halo isn't bad. I'd say it's average, with tendencies to good. I certainly enjoyed it, but I dislike the massive popularity it has, with people praising things it has not, like a "ZOMG THE BEST STORY EVARR", being the only game of 2001 that mattered, as if Max Payne or Baldur's Gate 2 had never existed, Halo 3 STILL having "ZOMG THE BEST MP EVARR" as if Call of Duty 4 hadn't blown it out of the water the day it came out.

Oh look, another topic where everyone has to say how mediocre Halo is, and how despite the nature of opinions, and personal tatses, they have to insist we all like Half Life 1 and Quake more than it. I pass.
