I don't know and don't care what the dog's "intentions" were as it ripped most of the flesh off that poor woman's face, it is irrelevant. If the animal was too stupid to realise it was horribly deforming its master then that is far worse and somehow twisting the narrative into the dog "saving her life" is utterly ridiculous. Severe facial deformation is no effective counter to the biological mechanism of sleeping pill overdose.

Other things that put me off owning a dog are the cost, the time, the effort, the dedication, the unpredictability, all the dog poop, how half my family are allergic to dogs and I honestly don't think I'd get much out of a canine companion. I prefer a human companion for the intellectual challenge and less running around throwing sticks.

But dog owners, more power to them, I guess I'm just not a dog person.

While I am a bit busy (learning how to read weather reports for Air Traffic Control), I do understand why you wouldn't want a dog. Especially if you didn't grow up with one. I grew up with a pooch of my own and I really can't have a household without one. Something about coming home and having a loving little face greeting you at the door when nobody else is home...really warms my heart.

My "broken heart" example was just that...an example, which was in the same line of reasoning you were using. It was meant to show that it doesn't happen all the time (if ever) and you shouldn't base your contempt for the animals on one story. Just like how you shouldn't think that every white guy is some rich pompous asshole, or that every black guy is some thug-gangsta, or that every asian guy is some math genious.
