I played through ff7, and I'm sorry.mattiboi24 said:FF7 definitely deserves to be revisited by SquareEnix, more than FF4-6. >_> Most of the story problems could be fixed with better translations and nicer graphics to help pass the time at the slower parts.![]()
Although, technically, that wasn't Sephiroth who stabbed Aerith...mattiboi24 said:If you want a comprehensive explanation for Aerith's death, all you need to do is consider that Sephiroth is part of the life-stream, and this has given him unimaginable power; so, if he's the one stabbing Aerith, his "attack" would be so much more powerful than any other enemies you've fought so far (he is the last boss after all) that it would realistic within the game's reality to say that it truly killed her (not just "knocked her out" as people seem to agree they are when a character decides to take a nap for a bit in a battle till you throw a magic feather at them). That's how I justified it anyways.
They retconned the Pheonix down thing. Something about being killed with Sephiroth's sword meaning they can't be revived.PrinceoN said:And no, it's not because I suck. I'm actually doing really well gameplay wise... It's just the story.
I'm not even going to bother putting a spoiler warning in this post, because if you've had anything to do with any sort of gaming within the past decade, you should already know what happens here.
Aeris dies. WHOMG! That in and of itself is retarded. I'll even forgive Sephiroth coming down and stabbing her just because he wants to be evil. Bad story telling, but I'll let it slide. But Aeris dies? Seriously? Everyones all mournful over that. Everyone keeps looking at her. Cloud picks her up and sets her off into the lake. Did nobody EVER hear of a phoenix down?? Or rather, since we're talking about a girl that can survive heated battles and nuclear blasts, Cure 3?? Since all that happened to her was that she was stabbed by a sword from a weak ass dude (yea I went there), her hp couldnt have possibly dropped to 0. But no. We must accept that fact that for a split second in the Final Fantasy universe, everyone forgot that phoenix downs and Cure3 existed in order to make one of the best characters of the game die off to show that you cant have an awesome team forever, or because SOMEONE has to die.

anyway, anyone else feel this way or think these thoughts or at least something along these lines while playing FF7?
Game. Set. Match right there.Sonicron said:It appears you entered the world of this Final Fantasy game with the wrong mindset.
You's must be trollin.Bud the Wise said:Before I get into the first comment, let me rant first in all caps. JAP RPGS IN GENERAL SUCK A HARD ONE AND I WOULD BADLY LIKE ALL THE HOURS I TOOK PLAYING FF7 AND ALL OF THE OTHER JRPGS IN GENERAL BACK AnD I AM NOW GLAD I DO NOT WASTE MY LIFE ON THAT GENRE OF CRAP. ALSO, YUGIOH SUCKS ASS AND ITS ONLY WORTH WATCHING IF IT HAS ABRIDGED IN THE TITLE.
------------------------------
There, after playing and absolutely loving Final Fantasy 3, I couldn't wait to play 7 as in my United States living brain, thats the next Final Fantasy released on a system. Well, I was completely disappointed with the game I gave up on both JRPGs as well as console systems in general but thats another rant.
Final Fantasy 3 was excellent and even the little things like music was absolutely spectacular. In fact, I often listen to "ripped" copies of a lot of the songs from that game. I enjoyed the game so much I broke the bank from my first job inspired checking account(Yes, I am older than you are, probably.) and bought FF7.
Yes, I was disappointed from the start but I slowly let it sink in, at this time I had no idea of the rapid change in Japanese culture nor their asinine way of "telling a story" in such blantanly stupid ways that are hardly coherient to understand (Case in point, Yugioh. What the hell do cards have to do with "saving the world" and where the hell are the police at?)
I"m tired and it is late morning and I haven't slept yet so I will cut this short.
Yes, my favorite character died on the first disk. I wish I knew ahead of time so I didn't build her up but I would have gladly gave the dark haired girl up instead as I never played her. Fenix Down, of course I have some as I tended to stock up on the damn things, so why couldn't I use it here but I could use it slighly earlier and later on when I fought the dude who killed her?
Golden Chocobo, was it a pain in the ass for anyone else to get a "Wonderful" Chocobo and why the hell am I forced to bread them for a few stupid items that although great, were hardly worth the 20 odd hours it took for me to figure out how to get.
Breeding Material or whatever the hell the colorful stones of magic were called. Why did it take so god damn long to level up on magic and then once you spend the whole damn game doing it, you can combine them to make a 'black' material I think. I dunno as I NEVER FUCKING WASTED THE TIME TO DO THIS. Games are meant to be fun and not a second job.
My next question isn't so much for Final Fantasy as it is for most of Japanese media in general, ARE THERE WOMEN IN THESE GAMES OR ARE THEY JUST FILLED WITH MOSTLY GIRLY MEN. As an older adult approching 30, I know how to find "FREE" internet porn and would rather watch it than partake in an aweful game "sex" act so onscreen BOOBS do nothing for me. However, I socialise and are married to a woman and I become accustom to being "straight". So, where are the EQUAL amount of women NPCs, this goes with the AWFUL cartoons as well? I am quite tired of girly men so can we outgrow that phase please.
Lastly, am I wrong? Does any American or European Decented people actual think this crap is well written or better yet, better than our media in general? Are their really people out there that would rather play this than an American designed game with great production values? Please let me know.
welcome to the running joke (Though at this point, I think it's old enough to be limping about with a walker...) of Final Fantasy VII.PrinceoN said:And no, it's not because I suck. I'm actually doing really well gameplay wise... It's just the story.
