It might not be the perfect system, but it's all we've got. Just bear with it 'til you're old enough to safely ignore it like the rest of us.

And how is An "M" rating stopping you? I've hear squeakers on Halo 3 most of the time. I Could never play a single match of LFD without their kind being present.

The ESRB is not perfect, but it's a necessary evil. Think about it: this VOLUNTARY organization decides to stop, then the government will step in. Do we really want Hillary Clinton rating our games?
If such a thing ever happened I would find plausible reason to do my first kill.

I don't think there as harsh with there game ratings as they are inconsistent. Some M rated games are M only for only one thing like violence and some E10 and T games have a crap ton of stuff going for them.

ESRB is not perfect but what rating board is?
ESRB is around for a reason if we dident have it, there would be utter chaos with parents and the media (much worse than now.)
instead of bashing it we should look for ways to improve it.

I...don't think Halo is controversial at all...it's rated M for Violence and Language to my knowledge. Nothing about Cortana being naked.
And I'm sorry, but I don't think you're old enough to be playing it in the first place, judging off of what you're ranting about and how you're doing so.

Oh, and the Kraken had some very good advice.

Stop whining, get over it, and wait like the rest of us had to. The ESRB makes it so that little kids like you can't play overly graphic games. That gets parents out of dev team's hair so they can make better games and gives us a break from 10 year old screaming at us on XBLive. If the ESRB says you shouldn't be playing it, THEN YOU SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING IT! So stop whining to us and your mom, and just play games closer to your age limit.

I'll admit to being foiled by ESRB a couple times. Not that I can afford games anyway, or just get 'em off Steam. Way easier.

and wtf is up with banning games? thats so stupid!! are we NOT protected under the (second?) constitution to print/ read (make and play) freely?
thats my rant- lets hear yours!!!

p.s. cortanas 'private areas' are barely even visible so wtf??

LOL, what? You mean second amendment, and has nothing to do with gaming, or any media what so ever, it has to do with the owning of firearms. Take a chill pill and stop acting like your twelve. Get over it. The ESRB exists for a reason geinus, they can't just let some nine year old buy games like GTA IV, Fallout 3, Gears of War and others without some form of protection. I'm fifteen and I have to have my perants acompany me if the games rated M. Any other game they can care less. Grow up.

I find the whole thing ridiculous. The games are only a quarter violent etc to what the real world is like, but we don't see people banning that do we?

...it's not illegal to buy an M game if you're underage, if I recall? In the US, anyway.

Oh, but I suppose you're upset because the ESRB would be fooling your parents into thinking games are bad for you? Well, news is this: ESRB is doings its job fantastically.

I have to suffer the Australian OFLC - stop complaining.

I'm old enough to think that children under 25 shouldn't be allowed on the internet.

Spooky stuff, that internets.

Well, we should be protected under the right to free speech as an art form, but unfortunately, like heavy metal, TV and comic books before us, we are the new favorite punching bags of irresponsible parents who blame the media for the problems with their kids

Or your 13, and played M games for a long time {5-6, I believe) since your parents have deemed you mature, which, they are correct about. My parents don't care because they know I won't go psycho-school shooter if someone pisses me off...
Fair point. Though he is complaining that he isn't allowed to play M games so I don't think he ever was.

What game is LFD? Liberty Forces Divided?

And the ESRB is in place for a reason. Custer's Revenge was one of the things that caused it.

Oh, I remember the heavy metal hating stage. Good times, good times. My own mother turned me on to the Genre.

I think there should be a rating between "T" and "M," like what they added between "E" and "T." The reasoning being that I think a lot of violent games are rated "M" because they're marginally worse than something the ESRB thinks a 13-year-old can handle.

ESRB doesn't work anyway. I've heard waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy too many 12 years olds on Gears of War2, Halo 3 and Call Of Duty to believe that people pay attention to the ESRB.
No offense young one, but I wish the ESRB was more strongly enforced. I was cussed out by a 10 year old in a Gears 2 match the other day. 10! I didn't curse until I was like 16. >.<
