I finally figured out why I refuse to watch... that one show. You know the one. The girly one.

Yep. It's a My Little Pony topic. Yep. I realize that by making this topic I am contributing to my own issue with there being too many pony topics. And yep, I realize that many of you have already left this topic with an exasperated "you're not helping" sigh. But I'm on my meager lunch break, so I find myself pressured to put this out here regardless.

Anyway, I admit that Lauren Faust is good at what she does. Powerpuff Girls is and always will be one of my favorite cartoons. I admit that MLP is quite possibly good. I even admit that if I watched it, I might like it. But I won't watch it, ever. And it's all your fault.

I never, EVER, want to be a brony or confused for a brony. I've seen how annoying some bronies can be about MLP, and why so many people hate you guys for those loudmouths. My concern is that I may become that guy and frankly, I don't want to be more annoying than I already am. I kind of like some of these people. The other problem is that even if I DO resist the urge to vomit Fluttershy facts on people, the instant someone knows I watch the show, they'll assume I am a brony and either mock me or, if they are a brony too, turn the whole conversation into a pony one. It's just too much hassle for me to have to deal with for watching one stupid cartoon. It ain't worth it, especially since their are dozens of other great shows to watch with fanbases that aren't exceptionally annoying.

So there you have it. If you agree, then good for you. If you think I'm just making excuses and are giving into peer pressure, then I give you a hearty "Yea, maybe." Either way, I don't really care.
You've just said in one post what I've been trying to tell my friends for months.

Kudos to you.

I'm just gonna go with my normal response for this sort of thing. Especially for Pony threads that turn up here.

The MLP fandom is not different form any other fandom, it's just a bit more obvious. I am a fan. A Brony if you will. It's the same as being a fan of Doctor Who or Star Trek or any other show with a large fan base. People will talk to you about if you mention you like it.
The only thing that annoys me is the same thing that annoys me about any fandom, which is where people get too carried away.Doctor Who has it's fans, Star Trek has Trekies, MLP has Bronies. Fanart, Fan fiction and costumes will be made. People will go to far and become disturbing claiming to be in love with the fictional characters.

Deal with it and stop complaining. We don't care if you like the show or not as long as you don't force your opinion on us or start badmouthing us.
Simple as that.

>_> <_<
Be like me then. Keep it huddled inside. I am a brony, but without the speech, and avatars. I LOVE THAT SHOW. Too bad all my real life friends look down on it. I really recommend watching it. It may be a little girly, but the plot's solid, the characters work well together, and there's plenty of amusement. The only other show that gives the same thing is perhaps Phineas and Ferb. Even though I am not entirely sure about that, MLP probably beats that one right out of the park.

Watching it because you fear you'll like it is stupid. That's like not eating pie because it might be tasty. Give it a poke sometimes.
And if your friends'll mock you (severely) because you watch something they dislike makes them bad friends.

Yeah, this about sums up my general opinion about this cartoon.
You know there's porn about everything on the internet right? And I mean EVERYTHING. Rule 34, look it up sometimes. You name it and it's probably online. 99% probability. Seriously. EVERYTHING

I watch Star Trek, do I have to be a trekkie?
I watch Doctor Who, do I have to be a whovian?
I watch MLP, do I have to be a brony?

I was gonna say something else too, but that pretty much covers it.

Well the poster clearly disagrees with you. And it's his choice so I don't really see your issue.

It's pretty obvious he's not bothered about what people think of him or he wouldn't have bothered posting this on here. Knowing the kind of reactions he was going to get. So I really don't see your point.

He explained why he doesn't want to watch it. Maybe he is the type of person who'd get caught up in that meta meme even if he went in with the expressed intention of not doing. You don't know, I don't know. But he thinks he might and that's enough for him to express his annoyance at how that loud minority has possibly ruined a show he would otherwise have enjoyed.
I'm just saying that I think the whole idea is stupid and completely nonsensical. For a while, I really just thought I had misread the whole thing. No-one has "ruined" the show for him, he has just come up with a really bizarre reason for not watching it and blamed certain people. Perhaps the tone of my posts has come off a little wrong, I'm not annoyed or angry, and I don't have any real issue.

The reason I'm posting is to point out that watching a cartoon is not going to magically change his personality or force him to be annoying like he apparently believes. It's like if I turned around one day and said I wasn't going to play video-games any more, just in case it would force me to become a social recluse and spend all my time arguing about the superiority of one console over another. It just doesn't work like that, and to deny yourself something you might enjoy for such a nonsensical reason is silly.

I fail to see how watching a show that is freely available on YouTube occasionally and not mentioning it yourself would add any hassle at all. Unless of course people are always watching over your shoulder when you're on the internet, but that would be weird.

Just my two cents man.

So, you're not going to let them get to you by... letting them get to you? You say that you don't care, yet you felt it necessary to post this thread? I'm almost certain that if you really meant that you don't care, you wouldn't have posted this. I'll give you some time to think things through.

Oh yeah, I'm a brony, and I still agree that we shouldn't be shoving it down your throats. Luckily, I think that it has quieted down a bit from a couple months ago.

Unless you have a problem with being obnoxious and overbearing about stuff you watch in general, you're not going to have those problems. MLP:FiM is NOT going to suddenly change your personality and make you into "that kind of brony", it's simply not (I'm not going to deny that they exist, and put me off getting around to watching it for a while. Then gain, posting songs here from the show is what got me to finally check it out).

I'm a big fan of the show (Who am I kidding? I'm a Brony! XD!), but I don't preach about stuff I like to strangers on the internet. Even among friends I know them well enough to know who I can talk to about what, and how easily they can feel the subject is overbearing. I know several Anime fans, but some won't get into the philosophical debates surrounding FMA, while others don't want to spend 20 min predicting the next One Piece arc (They're still big fans of Anime).

If you are that kind of person in the first place, maybe you're doing others a favour by not watching the show (You're certainly not doing yourself any favours. It's worth a look, at least). But if you're not, you should probably rethink this logic (And I can highly recommend trying it. I can't guarantee you'll like it, but it's worth watching the first 2-3 episodes to make a judgement).

The fact that other people will judge you for watching the show?
Do you really want to let everyone know? Maybe don't change your avatar into a pony avatar (I didn't). Maybe don't make a new thread about ponies (I haven't). Maybe don't include ponies in your posts unless it's relevant (I don't).
If you decide to make yourself easily identifaible as someone who watches th show however, I can't help. There will always be ppl who judge. Then again, I take ppl seriously when they put disclaimers like "I've seen the show, and while I don't hate it, I'm certainly not a big fan" (I'm guessing most ppl do too). Maybe you can do something like that? (If you don't turn out to be a big fan of the show)

What?! I came here to talk about Sex and the City. I thought that, perhaps, I could convince you that you should give Sex and the City a chance. And here you're talking about MLP. I am disappointed. Truly, I am.

As for MLP - it's on YouTube. Watch it, don't watch it - I do not care in the slightest.

I fully understand and agree with you. We (yes i am one also) and other fans from other shows/anything got to learn not everyone know/like what we like. Honesty I want to put Pony related pictures around my school but realize that:

1. most of the people doesn't know the fandom exist or the show it self and would get turned off before the first "bite".
2. some people may have no interest about set show and pushing them like a religion just making them hates (just look at real religion).

So i did not.

The best way is to not to talk to people about the show but give people the opportunity to ask you about it or maybe discover a peer is a closet brony.

Like they say, you can lead a "pony" to water but you can't make it drink

Sir, I want you to copy/paste that into a word document, save it, and post it anytime one of these threads pops up. This should be the end to all anti-Brony threads right here.

EDIT: And it looks like you actually did /thread. Hooray!
