my entry: Now and Then, Here and There
It's one of those uber-old animes, and it focuses about a bleak future where water is scarce to non existant

Since I am too lazy to find a pic or video, I'll just say look on Netflix or Youtube for it.

I really,REALLY dislike anime. but I also see myself as an openminded person, So I'll try to get into it! to help you help m I'll say what I dislike about anime and what I need in a series to like it. the anime series I have tried to watch is:

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Berserk, Full metal alchemist, Naruto, DBZ, Death Note and some other stuff I can' remember!

So, What I dislike about anime is the art style in general(I have started to not hate it so I can watch it), the over the top action scenes (Combat should not be "OMG HE IS THROWING PLANETS AT HIM!!!" it should be fairly "realistic"), the depressing tone of some of them (I want to be entertained not depressed), the girls voices, the girls HH cups, and some other stuff

What I like in a series: A good story that is very well written, characters is really important, humor, the setting must be good (I don't care if it's steampunk or Scifi or fantasy, etc) and lastly I want something that makes you think. (Good humor series don't need anything of the tings I have stated. As long as it's funny)

So, do you accept the challenge?
Watch "Spirited Away" or "Grave of the Fireflies". Preferrably GotF.

But MAKE you like it? Ok. *shrugs*

Do you like Anime? Answer wisely.

I would have recommended Kino's Journey because it fills most of the requirements. The fight scenes aren't very over the top as the main character (female that doesn't have huge boobs) relies on skill and ingenuity rather than superpowers. It is very episodic so there's not much of an overarching story but the individual episodes have interesting and thought provoking scenarios and the humor is subtle. However it can be depressing at times so I guess you wouldn't like it. So close...

Huh, Spirited Away... I had forgot all about that movie. I watched it as a kid when it got out. It was weird but quite nice.

Well, I would suggest fire, though I think that's my bias speaking.
To be fair, there were a few works I liked...like, three total.

I think Clannad may have all these things, maybe except for setting. Also, you will have to be able to watch 30 episodes (there's Clannad after story as well), before getting to the really good stuff.

You see, the first 20 or so episodes, are quite full of all the cutesy stuff and such, and may be hard to get through, but the later parts nearly made my cry.

I do and I submit Baccano! to you.

Synopsis (via MyAnimeList): During the late 1930s in Chicago, the transcontinental train, Flying Pussyfoot, is starting its legendary journey that will leave a trail of blood all over the country. At the same time in New York, the ambitious scientist Szilard and his unwilling aide Ennis, are looking for missing bottles of the immortality elixir. In addition, a war between the mafia groups is getting worse. On board the Advena Avis, in 1711, alchemists are about to learn the price of immortality.

Watch it in English.
Bravo... that looks kinda good! I'll give it a shot!
I hope you enjoy it. I'll make one last suggestion with Eden of the East. Yet again, watch it in English. Also, fun fact, the opening song is "Falling Down" by Oasis.

Synopsis: On November 22, 2010 ten missiles strike Japan. However, this unprecedented terrorist act, later to be known as "Careless Monday," does not result in any apparent victims, and is soon forgotten by almost everyone. Then, 3 months later... Saki Morimi is a young woman currently in the United States of America on her graduation trip. But just when she is in front of the White House, Washington DC, she gets into trouble, and only the unexpected intervention of one of her fellow countrymen saves her. However, this man, who introduces himself as Akira Takizawa, is a complete mystery. He appears to have lost his memory, is stark naked, except for the gun he holds in one hand, and the mobile phone he's holding in the other. A phone that is charged with 8,200,000,000 yen in digital cash.
It was neat! some things that annoyed me was the quick random scene changes. is it going to be like that all the way?
That's just for the trailer. It's not really that random.

Ah. Yeah they do that. Have you ever heard of the movie Crash? It's kind of like that. They show you the end of the story first and you as the viewer piece together the facts along the way.

Ghost in the Shell is pretty cool. It's also about the least Japanese you can get when compared to ghins like Naruto, Neon Evangelian (SP?), etc. The main female character is pretty badass, does not have a high-pitch voice and while sexy, isn't hindered by tits the size of the fucking moon.

Try Desert Punk, this is an awesome fairly realistic and funny anime. The ending is kinda lame as it ends on a cliff-hanger and the second half of the show has a more serious tone to it, but I have to say that Desert Punk is the best anime I have EVAR watched!

Seasons greeting Danik.

Okey here's the deal, even though I tend to agree with the selected anime that you disliked, I will however ask you to reconsider your stance on hating a particular series that you mentioned.

Berserk.

I tell you.. No, I beg you. Do not drop it. The anime does not give the series justice and I recommend you to see and read the not so complete(since it is still running since 1989) comic of it. Not only is Kentauro Miura(the artist and owner of the story) one of the best.. nay, one of the greatest comic artist but he also has put a lot of thought on making this shit up.

And the man works alone.

I did not make an account late in the evening and dedicated my first post just for you if I don't believe in what I write. I assure you my friend that it is worth your time.

Read it here.
