I wouldn't say I hate my country, but I dislike my government and a lot of people inhabiting it. (America)

I like my country quite a bit. We have a good enough relationship that I can make fun of it whenever I want. Also, I'm going to let any Americans here in on a little secret. Canadians make fun of Americans ALL THE TIME. I don't care how much you make fun of your own country, we probably do it more.
dude gonna let you in on a little secret then too we do the same thing to Canada. Like when comparing to anything bad some people will end with "well atleast it not as bad as Canada"

I fucking love my country.

I can't comprehend how someone could ever hate their own country of origin...
I can. I'm ashamed of the state its turned into. And I blame it on the media.
Blame which media for what? "Media" acts as articulation. The only reason people buy into whatever people are saying is because it resonates with them on some level. If this "media" was broadcasting something that these people didn't want to see, they'd turn it off.

Alarmist portrayals of video games and internet use, for example, only work in a context where people already harbor anxiety over those strange and unfamiliar technologies. "Persuasion from above with consent from below."

And this isn't even taking into account the fact that journalists and TV writers are people living within this context too. Do they all have some hidden agenda to ruin your country, or are they affected by the same influences as everyone else?

I don't think simply blaming the media works.
Well I need to blame someone. Should I blame you? :p

Besides, what I've seen on TV is the same type of behaviour I see in the real world whenever its aired. TV says jump, people say how high.

It's all good, we do the same right back at ya! We're like brothers that bust on eachother all the time... ^_^

I hate this country... Everyone is so uptight... You can't say or do anything anymore because some one will soil themselves...

Edit: I think this is just one of those "The grass is greener on the other side" situations...

I can't wait until we master space travel and go to other planets so I can profess my hatred for the planet Earth. So many of its countries are populated with the shittiest people. Human kind just sucks.

I'm not being ironic.

I mostly like Finland, but here are very many politicians I disagree with/hate.

And most of the media supports them.

The president is good though, but the media quite rarely report her doings and sometimes (especially during the election) mock her.

New Zealand is pretty nice. sure some of our politicians are immature, underqualified idiots but the country itself is cool with me. The fairly erratic weather makes everyday like a guessing game, what fun!

Well I think deep down everyone loves their country, Americans joking about fat people and cowboy hats is probably just done in satire because the good folk of the USA possess the rare perk of being able to take the piss out of themselves and go along with the jokes.

I'm proud to be a canuck but I recognize that we have some problems. I'm ridiculously proud of our stereotype though. Polite beer-drinking hockey-playing lumberjacks ef tee dubya.

The man speaketh truth.
We seem nice and friendly up close but really we're tenacious little buggers.
The cops around us match that attitude

I'd love New York if I didn't have to live here.

I love the USA, but I don't love the people in Congress.

Yeah, cultural cringe.

I like Australia a lot, I'm glad I live here. But there are plenty of things about it that irritate me. I really do not identify with or get much out of Australian culture. I certainly don't conform to any Australian stereotypes, quite the contrary (I've drunk beer twice, maybe three times in my life, alcohol in general only a few more times than that).

Australia seems very mono-cultural to me, and we seem to have a slightly misplaced arrogance. Sure, Australia is a nice place, but we're not exactly at the forefront of human development. Our indigenous population is sorely neglected and subject to an inherent racism that would make other nations blush.
