Ha ha! You really are fun!

My turn; "You what your saying is...you're twelve, homophobic, and trying to fit in with the cool kids who reject you because of your habit of acting socially awkward and bitter as a result, forcing you to conduct the majority of your social-life on an online games-forum in hopes of finding someone as neglected as you by your peers, but can't seem to fit into that environment either so you become bitter and retaliate by using words like 'troll' without meaning it, then indirectly become one without realising the guy 'feeding' you is quite happy doing so, because belittling people gives him a little shiver of ecstasy to compensate for his extremely dull life at this point in a stage of 'limbo' whilst awaiting results."

See, we can use it to get to know each other a little more too.

EDIT - Heh, in fact, I'm going to walk away. I'm enjoying this too much for my own good really. It was fun while it lasted, anyway.
hahahha wow u think u know people!

i bet ur just a fat guy who sits on his ass playing video games ALL day

Oh no Natal, terrible. Perhaps it will do what you say and somehow turn the xbox into a wii. Or in more realistic terms, it will follow the same path as the Sixaxis stuff does, and be ignored mostly.
I think MS is likely banking too heavily on it for it to be left to go the way of the sixaxis.

I suppose MS might moneyhat the hell out of a bunch of devs to ensure strong Natal support...

The world just isn't advanced enough to make use of motion control, until more research is done the world won't be ready for motion control.

I would never buy Natal anyway. I just...wouldn't. I can't imagine myself lifting a finger for that thing. I'm not judging it, I probably just wouldn't attempt to purchase it.

He probably is as you describe him, but is also pretty dumb as he calls you 12 even though your profile says otherwise.
I think you're defending the wrong person there ... AngloDoom is the sensible one in this "conversation", JoeKickAzz is the 20 year old who refuses to use punctuation and proper sentences (and you wonder why someone thought he was 12)

I'm going to take his lead and leave this now, I suggest you do the same

It's got nothing to do with energy consumption; I've played my baby cousins Wii when I visit and I don't fatigue, it's just not interesting enough to play for a long time. Wii games are typically Arcade style and those are designed for a few quick rounds to pump quarters into. It's not supposed to captivate you, it's just a temporary distraction.

I personally am tired of the whole gimmick, I can't wait to see them all become just another Atari Jaguar or 3DO of the current gaming generation.

It's not fucking going to be called the xbox 720.

Anyway natal will just come,no one will buy it and it'll crawl away to a corner to die.
I'm thinking XBoX3 or "The XBoX" to help people understand that their next itineration of the system is THE system :p.

I think there's a lot of overreaction in this thread. This shit will sell, regardless of whether or not it fits your "hardcore" gaming needs. Like others have said, it's obviously not going to be forced upon us and it's not going to be pushed for every game in the future. Just relax. The whole "I hate 'Natal'..." thing is getting really old, especially since it's not even out yet.

And herein lies the problem: motion control, thus far, has sucked depth OUT of games. It makes them shallow and less enjoyable in the long run and for players who want to get more out of a game than just a few hours of entertainment once a week, they won't satisfy.

How can Natal add depth to gaming when EVERYTHING has to be a gesture? How can you have marathon gaming sessions while making gestures all over the place?

I love exercise and I love gaming, but I don't want them at the same time. It's the same reason you don't go looking for girls in a bar and sit at the bar watching porn on an iPhone. Some activities are just better kept apart.

I believe motion controls CAN add depth to gaming, but I've yet to see a developer REALLY pull off something that makes me say, "Wow, you couldn't have a game this fun without motion control!"

Once that game hits, I'll be a bit more inclined to give motion control some credit.

I stopped playing the Wii because there are no good games for it. If Nintendo would just suck it up and have some developers that don't specialize in casual games.

I can't wait for Natal to come out, and for loads of developers to start producing for it.

The cries of "I R TEH HARDKOR COS I HAV TEH NATEL!" will be hilarious. I bet they're from the same people decrying it now.

Also, if you don't own all three consoles, you're not a hardcore gamer.

Eh, I think these people will just pack up and head for PC gaming.

Sorry to bring this thread up again, but I think it is still valid since Natal isn't out yet and I don't want to start a new one... Besides, it is not a month since the last post.

Here is a little bit of my Wii expirences with the Motion Controller:

Wii Sport: I like the Tennis thing, but there are only 3 ways to move that controller. The bowling is more like hit or miss if you throw it like a normal bowling ball, or you break your hand while being accurate. Golf and the rest is just plainly random.

Brawl: Used the Gamecube controller faster than you could say "Hold the remote sideways". Also saves batteries.

Mairo Kart Wii: Tried 3 Races with the steering wheel, gave up and used the Gamecube controller.

Wario Ware: Never played it again after a friend walked in on me and laughed for 4 minutes and 31 seconds. This is also my problem with Natal, you look just stupid. Even in that demo video..

The PS3 SIXAXIS is even worse, since you need to switch between 2 control sets (Same problem that the DS has)

LittleBigPlanet: Motion Control is used for looking around and doing the pelvic thrust.., fine with me.

Heavenly Sword: Switched it off after having to use "Aftertouch" once, the stick makes a lot more sense.

InFamous: SIXAXIS controls one attack, works well, but could have been done with any of the sticks.

You really want to push the boundaries of console gaming, give me mouse control. I bet I could out-click even the fastest guy with the Wii-Remote-Pointer and it is even more precise and well tested.

For consoles the best would be (Example FPS controls)

Left hand: Joystick for movement(strafe) with 3 Buttons (L1, L2(Main Trigger), Start Select) and POV for Thumb

Right hand: Mouse (Camera/Aim) with 6 Buttons (Left (R2 (analog), Right (R1), Middle (Y)+(Scrollwheel) and Thumb (A B X))

Maybe the A B X Y also on the joystick somewhere for jumping.

I could play any sandbox, 3rd and 1st person shooter that way. For platform and racing the controller is fine like it is.

(Or the other way aorund for lefties)

The problem with console controls is, while I like them a lot for racing and platforming, you can't use A, B, X, Y and the right stick for aiming. This is seldom a problem, but in games like Saints Row it is a hassle, since you need to shoot fromt the car, where R2 is fire, RS is aiming, A is accelerate (the problem) and LS is for steering. I know there is a different contol set somewhere. GTA IV is a lot better in this respect, but still not as good as aiming with mouse, since there is no auto-aim in the car.

Back to Natal: I don't see any good points about it:
Some say it will give developers more options and ways to control the game. But as far as I can see it is actually less, since all the buttons and sticks are removed and if you also have to hold a controller in your hand you will not be able to wiggle around as much. And how do you move, my home has limited dimensions...

Well it makes you stand up and actually move around which improves fitness a tiny bit.
