I myself enjoy Crystal Castles and Rusko apart from that I'm pretty lost on the genre.

These are my favorite Crystal Castles tunes if you'd kindly recommend me more stuff like it as well as some dubstep I'd be much obliged.

I'm not so sure about techno, but I do love all sorts of electronic music, especially EBM, trance, and industrial.

I never quite liked techno, but I can see why people like it.
And thanks for the songs, although it doesn't change my opinion about it.
Thanks for listening.

Just curious, is the the sounds they use in the melodies? Some people tell me they can sound like annoying sirens or alarms or just plain weird. And sometimes they do sound those. Do you prefer the tone of live traditional instruments?
I am a musician, so yeah, I prefer the sound of real instruments. They feel that they can add far many emotions unlike techno were everything is happy, etc.
But I respect techno for what it is, although I do not like it. Maybe because where I live people usually put the volume too up that can make your ears bleed would be another reason why I do not like it, don't you think?

Celldweller/quote]I am not really sure if Celldweller is classified as techno, I would say it's more punk. But if it is, I think he is the only techno artist I am a fan of, though I didn't knew...
Yeah, that does make it more annoying, especially when its bad techno.

Here is a song that isn't happy that I would still classify as electronic.

For crystal castle stuff, I don't really know. There isn't much chiptune out there thats on their level because its not just chip music. Maybe some Shiny Toy Guns

The first song definitely has some chiptune elements. I liked it. The music reminds me of glitch hop. They have a forum too full of good free music. Just google glitch hop forum.

WHERE IS DAFT PUNK? Where is Daft Punk? Seriously dude. I'm not sure if it's techno but it certainly is electronic.

Thought I'd share a couple songs.

I tend to like more rhythmical electronic than melodic. Most of the links above seem to do both supremely though.

This, however, is pure rhythm.

<-- Is not a fan of techno.

God I hate the whole rave scene, if it still even exists. Just keep the damn glow sticks away...

I can handle some Industrial music though, give me some of the harder KMFDM and Skinny Puppy and I'll be happy!

I like Trance but not much else.

Except for when I'm at a club or something every other type of purely electronic music that i've heard just sounds like aids to me. Can't really explain why other than I'm a musician and listen to mostly metal which generally makes it so you're less likely to like anything but Metal (and maybe jazz and some classical stuff).

Here are some suggestions for people that feel electronic music is too inherently happy, or emotionless:

I know ^ one isn't "techno", but it's electronic. Lay down your genre guns.

No garuntees, but ^ might actually appeal to some metalheads or general fans of aggressive music.

Husband and wife duo ^ - if nothing else, it conveys anger.

It would be easy to just call ^ electronic industrial, but a more accurate assement would be unrelenting awesome... Seeing them live on the 25th.
This ^ is probably the closest thing to "techno" i've posted, so far. Listen to it. It's deep.

Wicked

Proper abusive breakcore.

-------------------------

For the skeptics, I will concede that, after making electronic music for 11 years, I DO consider most of what comes out garbage, but, that's rather true of everything isn't it?

Yes, techno and various subgenres are my choice of music whether you are talking about techno specifically or are just using it as a catch all word for electronic dance/ambient/chillout music. Speedcore, gabba, hard techno and acid techno are my favourites but basically anything that might come under the hardcore techno label.
I used to make my own and DJ at a few squat parties and raves 5-15 years ago and Simon Underground said a few of my tunes were potential releases but then as happens to a lot of ravers too many hard drugs and crazy women knocked me out of the rave circles and crushed my creative spirit. I still have the equipment and all the tunes but the will to mix and create has gone.

As for suggested tunes, here's a few that I own that I found on Youtube too :

Sweet! a Thread for techno/electronica music lovers!

I guess I'm more into IDM type stuff. Not so much dance music but really music that just uses electronic instruments.

Here are just a couple of songs I really like that I think you might like too

Give this one multiple listens and really pay attention to it. This band doesn't usually do stuff like this, their discography spans a wide range of genres, but their two newest albums Merriweather Post Pavilion and Strawberry Jam contain mostly electronica stuff that I think you might like. If you like this though, check out Peacebone, another track by them, and My Girls, also by them. It's so GOOD.

Aphex twin is great, and so is this song. Also Check out Fenix Funk 5 and Ziggomatic. Also Power Pill and Mathematical Equation.

Radiohead's Album Kid A is also very good. Everything in it's Right Place, Motion Picture Soundtrack, and Kid A (title song) are very good songs. I know you probably don't think of Radiohead as electronica, but they've been progressively moving toward it.

You might like this also.
