In my last few years of high school i realised i didn't have any real friends. I did have a large group of people that i hung around with, but i couldn't relate to any of them and annoyingly respect i gave seemed strictly one way.

Right towards the end of high school though their were a lot of parties and stuff so relationships improved a lot then.

In college now i've got a new group of friends, i'm happy that i've moved on but there's still 2 old friends that i still talk to regularly. All is good now :3

I have a few closer friends, who would probably help me if I needed it, but since I've stopped the whole dating thing, I've cut my problems by about 95%.

I have never been/will never be close to my family. There's no present animosity or anything, just an amiable, although coldly professional, relationship. Moved out when I was 17 and never looked back.

My friends tend to oscillate. I'm currently in a "have no friends" moment myself. I've always preferred being close to a small handful rather than to surround myself with dozens of acquaintances. But when that small handful moves away in seperate directions for work, and you're in between relationships, well...

Canceling the old WoW account several months ago sealed off most of my internet friendships as well.

So yeah, it can get a little lonely at times. I've learned to be a pretty independant/solitary guy from the early years of my life, however, so most of the time, the solitude isn't even a negative thing. I do feel the occasional twang of loneliness however.

That only has to lead to unhappiness if you let it, though. Cherish what you have, work towards what you want, and enjoy everything along the way. And, in the interim, there's always comraderie and empathy to be found on video game forums ;)

Have you ever had a day where you just needed someone to talk to and you realize either:
a] You have no real friends.
b] You are fighting with your friends, and there's no one else to talk to.

I realized today that I have no real friends, at all. I mean, I'm close to my family, but I don't like talking to them about anything. I'm not really dating anyone either, so that's out of the question.

What about you?
Yep. That day is every day. Friendship is a foreign concept to me, and I've learned the easy way nearly my entire family is useless. No point in dating since the competition is about 10 single dudes for every single lady.

I'm very introverted, and coincidentally when it comes to my issues I talk to myself more than I talk to my friends.

I have mates. But none I can connect with on an emotional level. And my family I can barley talk to at all. Yeah I know the feeling.
I haven't had a barley talk with my old man in ages; largely because he doesn't drink anymore. My brothers, however, both drink shite beer, but I can have barley talks with them, if need be.
You grammar nazi you :p

Actually, I think that everyday.

I have no real life friends and I don't feel comfortable talking about emotional stuff with my parents, so I just kinda confide in my "friends" here.

Or you know, just talk to myself. I'm not crazy

Goddamn it, I'm lonely.

The friends I've made so far in college don't seem like real friends to me. They just seem like acquaintances. Doesn't help that part of me feels like I don't belong.
