Sex.

It burns a lot of calories, annnnd it's enjoyable!

If that's not feasible, exercise, vitamins, and a good diet ought to do it.

You dont even need to eat less, just work out.

Calories will help you build muscles faster.
The LAST thing you want to do is go workout after eating only an apple or something.
You wont get far at all.

Eat up, keep it semi-healthy, and then burn the shit out of the calories.
Its rough at first, and I have to start getting back into shape myself, but once you do it it's an awesome feeling.

Or like the chick above me, have sex.
150 calories every 30 minutes burnt. (i think?)
and it helps you build stamina.

Thanks a lot everyone, much appreciated.
1) Drink a SHIT load of water

2) I discovered a devilishly good and freaken healthy meal (Get a tortilla, some baby spinach leaves, salsa, cold cuts/meat, cheese. Put a very large amount of spinach on the tortilla then the cheese, meat THEN put some salsa on top, wrap up and enjoy. Filling and tasty.)

3)If you have a pet, take them for long walks if not then clean your house more often, a good cleaning amounts to around 200 calories burned.

4) Lift weights. Obviously to get stronger.

5)Read a book and walk with it. Just walk while reading, it isn't boring assuming it's a nice book.

Yeah hope that helps.

On a chilly day, throw on a sweater and run. The running plus the shivering together helps. Tip from my science teacher that I'll never forget.

Edit: Oh, and the guys who suggested lifting weights aren't helping you. Muscle weight is heavier than fat weight for the same amount of mass, so if you're strictly trying to lose weight then that's counterproductive.

Eat more veggies. Eat less fat and carbs. Exercise more.

All weight loss things boil down to this.

Helpful stuff:
Celery & Broccoli are foods that actually use more energy to eat, then you get out of them.

So, pig out on those, knowing that every bite is helping you lose weight!

Is there really any better advice than the old tenet of "Diet and Exercise"? Doing either alone is unlikely to work, but a combination of the two does wonders.

Remember, strength training (lifting weights) actually burns more fat than cardio. But don't overdue it. Go like 3-4 times a week and give each body part at least a day's rest after strength training.

And weight isn't the best indicator of how healthy you are since muscle weighs 3 times more than fat. You should really use body mass index instead.

I went from 240 fat slob going to a decently fit 180 in under a year.

Its really simple:
Eat smart, don't worry about diets or calorie counting. You know what food are bad for you, and what is healthy. Just choose the healthy options most of the time and treat yourself to junk every once in awhile. You can even set goals and treat yourself when you get to them, say lose 5 pounds. You don't need to over think, just have the self discipline to do it.

This part is key, find an physical activity you enjoy and can see improvement on. For me it was running. I would run a slow half mile and would be completely winded. It became a self improving cycle: I ate better to be able to run more, the more I saw improvement the more I wanted to eat better. I personally think eating healthy has a greater effect on losing weight than the exercise, but it's the exercise that motivates the eating.

Losing weight isn't hard, it's 100% on how serious you are about losing it.

If you have questions just ask, I also joined the military since my weight loss, I know plenty of exercises that you can do with no equipment or a gym. If you want I will set you a workout guide.

Watch what you eat and exercise regularly. And, if you want to gain substantial muscles mass, try working out.

Good luck!

You idiot, there is nothing wrong with a bit of muscle weight, infact it will help you burn fat faster.

Weights do help, you will even burn more energy while doing nothing, though you might be hungry after weights and eat too much - watch out for that.
Idiot? Was just saying that if he only wanted to lose weight, then gaining muscle won't help. It's fine otherwise.

Damn, I got a warning for that, and I didn't even mean it maliciously.

Less sugar (2 pieces of fruit daily no more), less sodium, more exercise (or just stay active somehow), smaller meals and higher in protein if you want to stay toned etc etc. It takes up to 30 mins running to start burning fat stores. So if you plan on indulging at some point, I would run it off straight away otherwise it's just going to your fat stores.

Male? Female? 2000 calorie intake a day (healthy foods, of course), minimum of 20 mins of exercise a day. (More or less, depending on your gender. I'm a woman, I try to eat 1500-2000 a day, depending on whether or not I'm spoiling myself. =P )

It's like other folks have said-everything in moderation. Should have SMALL portions of food every 4 hours (3 meals, 1-2 snacks depending on your schedule), breakfast is definitely important as it gets your metabolism up and running right when you start your day.

At first you might still seem hungry, but you will physically and mentally adapt to eating less and very likely learn to enjoy the things you are eating. You don't need to starve yourself or deny yourself the things you like, just don't eat as much and don't wait to eat until you are starving-you'll only want to eat more, faster and will very obviously overeat. Save things like cookies, ice cream, etc as a "treat", tho fruits are definitely better sweets. Cut out soda-even diet, you don't want to "drink" your calories.

As for exercise, walking is by far the easiest thing to start doing. 20 min a day will get you walking about a mile or so each day (depending on pace, of course). The biggest thing is doing it for 20 mins all at once, not just like walking around a mall and stopping to (window) shop. Once you get used to doing that, you can start doing other things like resistance training (weights, et al) and more cardio-centric activities.

Biggest hurdle is starting to do it and keep at it, once you do that you're well on your way. Good luck!

Eat oatmeal and some fruits for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, and salad for dinner. Worked really well for me, since you'll be so damn sick of the food that ultimately you can only eat so much. But this depends a lot on your discipline. It worked for me because I was living in a dorm, and everything other than these options were just horrible. So don't force yourself too much, or you'll end up giving up the diet entirely.

But yeah, going Veg helps a lot. Meat has a lot of calories--tofu does not. If you want, I can hook you up with some of my favorite recipes. The best thing: you'll save a lot of money on groceries as well, since meat is usually the factor that really pushes up the cost of your meal. Oh, and did I mention you'll be doing great things for the ozone layer?

And definitely exercise like everyone else have said so far. Swimming is really fun for me, even if I'm horrible at it. Jogging is probably the easiest way to go though. But even when you're in your room, get up and stretch every now and then. On my quest to stave of poverty that is student life, I actually turned down my heater and started exercise in my room to keep warm. You burn calories, have a lot of fun, get to practice dancing (or in my case, martial arts), and save energy at the same time.

Exercise and diet?

How hard is this to realize. Doing computer stuff all day and drinking carbonated drinks and eating nothing but chocolate for a few months. Seriously ...

Go out and run/speed walk 4 km a day and go to the gym and lift weights everyyyyy dayyyyyyy

I've gained some weight in the past few months, and I want it off. I have some important things to do that require me to be...well, a lot more fit. Does anyone here have any suggestions? What are some good, healthy ways to lose weight?

Yes, I realize the IMMENSE irony in asking this on a video games forum.
seriously, consider south beach. its an all natural diet. you can join the escapist fitness group for more ((and sincere advice)) I can help a lot with a weights program if you are motivated.
Not all sugar is bad, you need sugar and other carbohydrates to function, retard. And the sugar in a banana isn't hard to work off, you could do it just by doing your daily walking commutes
