Played with someone the other day named "Pure Mammal Sauce"... There are any number of things that could be, and none of them are particularly pleasant. Whatever the case it's random funny GamerTags like that one that keep my faith in the XBL community.

the mishapen excuses for names that appear simply make these people forgettable to me
Yep... if I can't read it at a glance, I don't read it... it becomes nothing more than "is that a friendly target or not"?

Having said that I can't really be arsed with online gaming much at all lately.

I hate in like MGO or any game when half of the people try to have names like characters like Big_B0Ss1856 or stuff like that.

Yeah, I hate them. Even though my entire online persona has the numbers 567 in them. I mean without the numbers the name isn't the same... PayJ. Seems a bit lacking. But I was sporting numbers when it was cool and never replaced letters! I can't stand people who replace letters with numbers especially when done badly!

Oh yeah and It's bloody well my invention as its my school login.

Thus is the folley of letting people name themselves online.

A freedom that can be and already is abused on a daily basis. Am I right?

People on XBL are too judgemental. Who gives a s**t what someone's gamertag is. Mine's in Latin so it's relatively hard to mock, also it's fun to say.

It's xbox, didn't that give you a clue to the intellect of the people on it? For all the people about to say im a fanboy and stupid shit like that, I have all 3 consoles and a decent PC.
I won't cry fanboy, but I will say it must feel good knowing that the majority of peoplw on xbox live have an inferior intellect to you. I hope this makes sense to you since my dumb x box playing brain can't speak good. Unless I want to call you a fag and then it works great.
obviously your taking this a bit hard, but let's be straight here Xbox 360 is labeled as the everyman console (at least in my opinion) everyone and their mother has one. These include preteens and frat boys who live to be better than everyone and take about as much time to form cohesive thoughts as the average everyday rock.

Another problem with XBL is that the majority of the games are match making based, while not a bad system in general it provides players with both the animosity of the internet AND the protection of limitless servers from which they can not get banned. At best they can be kicked and simply rejoin another one. This leads to people being utter douche bags, simply because they can. I know I've done it on the odd occasion (usually after a bad day)

Obviously not everyone who plays on XBL is someone who is stupid, but let's face it, a lot of people on XBL are dumb. And in case your wondering the ONLY console I own is a 360. Haven't touched it in a good 6 months but I bought it cause I liked it.

Fortunately for me I learned that XBL is a waste of time and got out before the surge of young-ins and idiots that joined the system. That and my name was Razzle Dazzle, not mine originally but I adopted it from my brother and that name would have granted me a lot of negative attention from kids who only know how to scream ****** at the top of their lungs. Honestly who let's these things out of their cages.

Also khamira the average IQ of someone on the escapist is generally above that of the average user, especially the average XBL gamer and your post kind of proved it.

I love the irony of this thread.

People with silly tags complaining about other people with silly tags who are complaining about other people that have silly tags. It is like a never ending line of silly tags.

Most are awful, it's true. I don't play on live however so I don't really care. My live name was going to be Hiphophippo just like my name here but sadly it was taken (why?). Thus, I went with a classy variant "Hiphoppington".

I'm so stylish.

Who gives a rats ass what someones gamertag is. It's just an identifier, it only holds the meaning you attribute to it. The tags themselves inherently mean nothing.

Anything with sniper in the name. They are always the worst snipers and always end up resorting to shotgunning or something like. I try to avoid numbers in my names. Something about it just bugs me.
