Windwaker is the best game to introduce you to LoZ, as OOT is a bastard and quite frustrating, especially the Water Temple.

Twilight Princess wasn't bad, but far from the best in the series.
lol try playing Master Quest. That was HARD

(I lol'd at the OH GOD THIS GAME IS MAKING ME FIGURE STUFF OUT ON MY OWN? RAAAAAAAAGE part. Yeah, it's called "not a Hollywood blockbuster hand-holdy linear cover shooter game" game.)
I haven't played it but didn't the First Legend of Zelda game literally just drop you in a lower section of the map then let you have at it?

(Atmittedly I'm pretty sure that alot was explained in the manual, back when those were good. But like I said I've never played it.)
That's exactly what it did. Black bars give way to your character in the middle of a screen and you are immediately in control with no limitations. Open invitations to your north, east and west, and a cave to the north-west.
You could always go whichever way you wanted to, but you wouldn't get far without a way to defend yourself. Eventually, you'd go in that cave and find your free sword.

Though games back then did this all the time. I hated Metroid for it, because there was no map to help you out, and the areas were literally copy-pasted in numerous locations. Good luck finding your way via landmarks if the room to your left, up-left, and down-left are all identical, with minor differences between them. But those games really weren't too complex, especially Zelda with its helpful maps and all. So finding you own way was a perfectly reasonable route to take.

Twilight Princess isn't really the best game for a newcomer to the series, nor the best game in the series (imo). TP has an extremely long prologue and tutorial section, so it starts REAAALLLLYY slow. I'd recommend OoT for the beginner, the tutorial stage in that game is pretty much a dungeon (an easy one at that), so it'll throw you right into the action.

If your playing Twilight Princess on the Wii your doing it wrong. It was originally meant for Gamecube, who's controller solves most of the button issues your having.

Yeah, TP had probably by far the worst opening of any Zelda game. This was a bad one to start with.

On the other hand, Midna is the best sidekick Link ever had. The absolute best.
I agree on Minda being the best sidekick.

Oh but do I miss the "Hey listen!" in Twilight Princess. (Sarcasm)

Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game ever, I wish they would make a sequel. Actually if they made a 3DS port it would give me a reason to buy the 3DS.

Were you using a regular Wiimote? I always thought it would work better with a gamepad personally. But then again, I don't own a Wii. I saw my brother playing it though during this whole scene and a bit beyond. You have to learn how to play a song from grass to get anywhere.

Well No Zelda game besides the original and Zelda 2 really gets going in the first 30 minutes. I suppose they could handle their tutorial better but honestly any game that isn't broken is going to have a slow tutorial to start things with. I'm not sure what games you usually play so I don't know how they are set up but I'm fine with letting a game build momentum. Good luck on your next game.

Well, Twilight Princess was never called the best Zelda ever, but it's certainly an amazing game. Granted, the game starts out very slow, but it picks up a bit later.

Half an hour to judge an epic of 20 hours doesn't sound fair to me.
Yeeeeah... I don't even like Twilight Princess. I look for excuses to ***** about this game. And I'd STILL agree with this guy, you're too impatient. I can hardly imagine a human being having less of an attention span or less of an open mind.

The thing that really gets me is how much you ***** about the context-sensitive A-button controls. The action you're going to do is displayed in huge letters superimposed on a graphic of the button at the top of the screen, which animates with un-subtle and obvious cues to let you know when the action is changing. It couldn't possibly be any clearer what action you're doing when, and by your account you're completely inept with it. I'd really hate to see you trying to drive a car or do something more complicated than interact with two-button controls, it would be a disaster.

I don't know whether this account is supposed to be exaggerated for humor or something, but it comes off as ignorant and stupid. Snarky humor is only enjoyable if what you're saying has some verisimilitude. Color me unimpressed, you haven't even gotten to the parts actually worth bitching about. Lightweight.

I've enjoyed Twilight Princess far more than Ocarina of Time. That damn water temple really burned me out.

Your mistake was playing it on the Wii, play it on the Gamecube instead.

Copies do get a little pricey (mainly because of it's low print run), but it is well worth the money. As it feels like a totally different game with the better controls. It also feels a little more challenging as well.

Also, the beginning part of Twilight Princess is straight up bad. So you should at least complete a dungeon before you past your judgement on it.

So you're complaining because you can't manage to press A to pick grass or climb up ladders? That's not the game's fault, I think you just suck.

Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I ever played, and I thought it was pretty good.

This sums it up.
The intro takes 15 mins if you know what you are doing.

Well that does seem like a control issue to me. I mean, it's fiddling around with the stick to climb up or just press A. It's quicker and easier. It's like pressing 5 buttons or 1 button do something. It's like me saying

"Oh, I failed on because a guy gibbed me before I could press 5 buttons to attack. Why can't it just be 1? That would be so much simpler?"

Then you saying

"HAHAHAHAH!!! YOU SUUUUUUUUUUCK!"

In fact, I'm wondering if you really think your argument is a good one or fiddly controls are better. It seems like anyone who could use a computer would know this is bad. So I think I'll call....

No, I'm being serious. I don't recall struggling with the controls in Twilight Princess. Is walking at a ladder to climb up it really so challenging?

Fiddly controls are not a good thing, but the controls for Twilight Princess were far from fiddly.

TP was the first Zelda I played, and I actually really liked it a lot.

But then , I played it on the Gamecube and not with waggle controls.

I suggest you read the instruction booklet and at least try to take the game seriously enough to not name your horse "Ballsack".

Actually it seemed more like he was lamenting the fact that they put too many functions on to the one button, which often does tend to confuse game engines.

The 'you just suck' argument is a lazy and ignorant response when someone has a complaint.
