It's okay for people to buy into hype and be excited as long as they keep it to themselves or others who do the same (that way they rebound of each other and no-one else gets sick and tired of hearing about it), keep it to yourself because the rest of us don't want to hear it.
I suppose it's also okay for some people to loath and despise hype as long as they follow the same logic, don't get too preachy about it or you're just as bad as the followers of hype.
I always tend to be more suspicious of nay sayers than anyone else when it comes to gaming and pop culture, since emo became popular again it has become popular to dislike everything with a witty sense of self satisfaction ('don't believe what the media and everyone else tells you, I know it's going to be shit because...er...it's gonna be another Halo...but in super stabby mutant form...I wanna play Braid again').
Hmmm would you prefer if maybe the game had some fetch quests? How about an escort mission or a dating sim minigame? It's an action game, violence is all there is to it.aussiesniper said:

Looks about as dull as inFamous, only without the constant annoying electricity sounds. Also, anyone claiming that the taking over of other people is original needs to play Messiah. Not saying anyone here's said that, but I've seen it around.
In fairness, I'll download the demo and give it a try, but it looks the same as Incredible Hulk, which got boring after an hour or so.

well. its GTA with mutant cow people things and helicopters and tanks. the only reason id even consider renting it (yes its definately not worth buying) is to make myself look like one of the military. even then theres probably some gay timer until it deactivates. or you cant do anything or else you will turn back to normal.

I'll download the demo and it will be neato, but ultimately just a shallow, button mashing, 3D sandbox with nowhere to go and no real challenge. I'll put it on my mental list of games to rent, but never actually rent it. Six months later, I see it used at Gamestop for $18 bucks. I buy it, beat it in two days and return it for full price.

Demon's Souls is the game that's finally convinced a friend that's been putting off buying a PS3 since MGS4.
