It's not really a question of social stigma. It's just that most of us thinks it looks ridicolous, and has a teensy inkling that this might not be thought through.Zeithri said:I love the hypocrissy in this thread.
The same kind of people who think we should stop labelling ourself as gamers because of the social stigma are putting a social stigma on those who are into body modifications. Hilarious.
I know I know that from somewhere. But where? (Seriously, tell me)lee1287 said:So regular people don't release you're a vampire? HAEmileeElectro said:...Kids these days and their trends.

That was incredibly well-stated and on-the-ball for being raging drunk. Hell, even for not being raging drunk.Longshot said:It's not really a question of social stigma. If a persone was really convinced this was what he, or she, wanted, and was, within reasonable parameters, in possession of a good sensibility and had seriously considered the cnsequences with a mature mind, then sure... go ahead. As longs as you know what you are actually doing.
It's not getting one¨s tongue split that irks us. Or me, at least. It is doing something that is irreversible, looks bloody stupid, to me, and smells a lot like one of those things you think is cool at a certain age, but will regret for the rest of the life. Hell, I was full on goth(or at least tought I was) for three years of my life, with eyeliner, collars and the whole shebang. Today, I just shake my head with a curious smile when I think back on those days. My past self was, in my eyes, a ridicolous twerp. I wouldn't be without it, it made me me, but the difference is that I don't have to carry it around now. The eyeliner is not tattoed on my eyes, and the coller not stiched fast to my neck. I could leave it behind. Body-modifications follow you for the rest of your life.
Now, if the OP sounded mature and had any good arguments for this, I'd be behind him all the way. I'd be cheering for what is a very bold decission. However, he has shoddy grammar and an exaggerated use of "lol", and mentally, I picture him as 16-20. I do not think he should make such a decission at a point of his life where he cannot even properly defend this desire to split his tongue. All he has given is flimsy excuses, instead of standing proud and saying "Hell yeah, I know what it'll do, I know what consequences it will bring, but I don't care."
Therin lies the difference. And I hope it made sense, since I am raging drunk.
Even with the most emaciated of super-models I don't think that would really work without a tongue of Gene Simmons-like proportions, and you can't just pick those up off the shelf you know!khaimera said:Its good for going down on two women at the same time. Why, thank you. I think I will celebrate by getting even more drunk. In truth, I was planning to anyway, but it's more fun if you pretend to have an occasion. Lord, how big tongues do you think people have?khaimera said:Its good for going down on two women at the same time. Skinny women make it easier. So go for it.
It's not directly insulting the person. Just peoples opinions on the idea of something so it's all coolMetalPhoenix said:I love how a lot of people are calling TS freaky, disgusting and attention seeking. I thought this forum was about mutual respect towards each-other.
I get warned and hated when I mention something about religion, but bashing a dude for what he thinks looks cool is okay :?
Anyway, Drazeric: I'd say go for it
