I know that my opinion here is part of the majority of responses in that I think it is a pretty bad idea, although I do agree with the point that it is your body to do with as you please and if you feel that having your tongue split will improve your life and (importantly) doesn't involve breaking any laws in your country of origin then it is your right to make that decision.
My views on the subject are mainly about aesthetics in that I think the human body is a pretty beautiful thing and dressing it up in different ways (temporarily) through new clothes, or jewellery in most cases serves to emphasise that natural beauty rather than change it more permanently. So the idea of committing yourself to a course of action that physically changes the human body I find slightly odd. If you think about it human beings have evolved to find other human beings attractive, hence the view of the majority of people towards those who decide to take body modification beyond merely "enhancing" already human features (such as larger breasts) and in many cases cosmetic surgery is designed to do is make someone look more "fertile", for want of a better word.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but, nearly all humans are programmed to look for a kind of beauty that says that the person is "healthy" and capable of providing healthy offspring, this occurs even when hiring for jobs where what you look like should have no bearing on the situation. Having your tongue split will subconsciously suggest to people that you may not be "healthy", despite all other indicators, and could affect your future employment prospects as well as romantic prospects, so I would advise care.
