Meh 5.7 isnt the best round for self-defense, especially for the price of it.MR.Spartacus said:I'd go for a Berretta Model 70s. 22.Long rifle and once favored by the Mossad. A PS90 would make for great home defense what with it's size and large magazines.
That gun is dead sexy. I want that gun. Fuck, if I can get that gun, I'll join the army now!Gilhelmi said:The CM901 is a new rifle Colt making for the US Army that is being tested now.
It is a multi-caliber, change on the fly, rifle. Multiple, easy too change barrels, 7.62 or 5.56 ammo.
I could kick down the door with the 10.3-inch barrel, 5.56 ammo in the chamber. What is this? the enemy is 600m away coming in!! Lets switch too the 16-inch barrel, 7.62 ammo, and reach out to touch someone.
I want this Rifle, I need this Rifle. I am getting all tingly just thinking about this Rifle.
Note: (I want discussion on new weapons, how sweet old weapons are, ect. I do not care if you don't like guns, I do, and I will not talk about gun rights in this thread. I want to talk about my BOOM STICKS. [/rant])
Yeah, that was a major problem in Vietnam. US soldiers abandoned the original M16s for AK's, but the sound demoralized US troops because then nobody knew who was shooting where.Wadders said:Guns are fun. Probably bollocks, I doubt their superiours would let them use AKs. They sound like enemy fire, and the US army wont issue it's men with the riht ammo for them.Shirokurou said:American rifles are usually good on the shooting range, but when in warzones the US soldiers prefer trophy AKs... Holy jesus, that's awesome, if not extreme overkill!mettle_edge said:As for the gun that makes me all tingly, well...
I have no idea what the reference is, but I just had to say that looks like a sweet classic revolver. I quite like the little pentagram carved into the grip.Frozen Donkey Wheel2 said:Nothing well ever beat this:

Yes indeed, the AK is an amazing weapon. Let me direct you do a quote from a Vietnam vet!Naheal said:I believe that's a durability issue. You can damned near run over an AK and, so long as the firing pin's still in place, it'll fire just fine.Shirokurou said:American rifles are usually good on the shooting range, but when in warzones the US soldiers prefer trophy AKs... I also like that gun in th OP. The not as powerful (As the old M1 Garands or M14s) 5.56 cartridge in the M16s has always bothered me a bit, so I'm glad they may be getting the potential of more firepower in a 7.62 rifle.David Hackworth said:One of the bulldozers uncovered the decomposing body of an enemy soldier, complete with AK-47. I happened to be standing right there, looking down into the hole and pulled the AK out of the bog. "Watch this, guys," I said, "and I'll show you how a real infantry weapon works." I pulled the bolt back and fired 30 rounds ? the AK could have been cleaned that day rather than buried in glug for a year or so. That was the kind of weapon our soldiers needed, not the confidence-sapping M16
Bullshit, I have never heard of any US soldiers using AKs. They have no reason to, if you take can of an M-16 is a far superior rifle than the AK.Shirokurou said:American rifles are usually good on the shooting range, but when in warzones the US soldiers prefer trophy AKs... Or so I heard.
The whole AR vs. AK debate is long-running and filled with misinformation. True the M16 when it first came out wasn't the best rifle in the world, because the government was like 'Hey, this gun is magic, you don't have to clean it or anything, and it'll work just fine!" and voila, the gun has jamming issues. Since the M16A2, it's been good, now that we actually take care of them. It can get dirty and all that in the field of battle, but at the end of the day, gotta clean the gun, that's all. I've heard a personal story from a friend of mine in the military where an Al Qaeda member popped out and emptied a mag into his squad. His squadmate popped him, and afterwards they checked each other for wounds and no one was hit, because the AK was awful on automatic fire. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference, and I'd prefer to accurately fire on more than single shot. If I wanted a 7.62 rifle I'd get an FAL or a G3. (BTW I have a CETME, which is the Pre-HK G3)MikailCaboose said:Yeah, that was a major problem in Vietnam. Well, even towards the end of 'Nam the M16 was miles better than at the very beginning. It just got stuck with a poor rep.FURY_007 said:The whole AR vs. AK debate is long-running and filled with misinformation.
