Disagree.

If Bethesda put in co-op I would see that as them saying "We aren't confident we've made a good enough game this time to hold you attention for hundreds possibly thousands of hours like the rest, so we're going to let you play with a friend so you might come up with your own fun in the game world.".

i dont know anything about the series (except that i dont like oblivion) but accordin to my fanboy friend there WILL be co-op in the newest game and i "promised" that i would play it with him. i guess it would be kind of cool, it would be like a FP videogame of D&D. you could have one guy (warrior) at the front and onother player (me) raining firy death arrows from my hilltop position. or if it had more people in co-op (like halo) you could have an archer, a warrior, a mage and a healer.

Co-op for far future DLC as a nice surprise, Yes please. Friends only however, I don't give a shit about what some hacker has done.
Again.... sigh.

TES is an RPG game. A ROLE PLAYING GAME.
Do you see that bit that says role play? That's what it's all about. And making your own fun in games is pretty much always more fun than something set up. I would love to roleplay with my mate.
Here are 3 quick ideas off my head
1. Family
2. Mercs
3. A trader and a bodyguard
I though of those in about 5 seconds.
THATS WHATS FUN ABOUT IT. Making up your own stuff is fucking awesome.

See ya next time,
Rimmy

If you don't wanna roleplay, just do what this guy said.

Bye bye,

If it had a seperate game mode, something akin to the two worlds 2 approach then maybe it could work but other than that i dont want anything interrupting with my story, better yet, my world

Again, like I said, it would be in a completly differnt world, an ever changing one. One day the town lolcat fest is on and the next there are fucking zombies eating the count's wife.

That would just be pure... bloody.... awesome!

I would agree if it was a real world that two people could enter and work together in. However, the simple limitations of gameplay would turn such awesomeness into an immersion-breaking mess.

Again, that's why people build games with co op in mind. If you read back a little, I have explained heaps.

Co-op would be really fun in the elder scrolls, it would be really fun to explore caves and fight monsters with an ally that can actually work out how to walk around obstacles. Temporarily of course, you should be able to return to single player if you wish. In otherwords, 2 different people should have to sign in at once to play co-op.

Oh god no. The problem nowadays is that everything has to have a multiplayer component. Not because it adds to anything or because its good, just because its another tick on the checklist of crap that has to be added to every single game these days.

Co-op would be poorly implemented in it and would just result in the single player experience being watered down to accommodate it.
Sigh..... a lot. So what if the single player is a wittle watered down. Us co op ers havent had a single game with co op from TES and if there were one it would be fucking awesome. And poorly implemented? FFS!!! IF ITS IN A DIFFERNT WORLD, HOW THE FUCK WOULD IT BE POORLY IMPLEMENTED? WHY DON'T YOU TAKE A MOMENT TO READ THE WHOLE THREAD, THEN COME BACK TO ME.

Angry,
Rimmy

EDIT: Whoa, im calmer now. What I was trying to say is, it's in a differnt world to the normal one, thus doesnt fuck around with the single player. And if some portion of the game is diverted into making it GOOD, then it won't be poorly implemented. Really, i'm sure you can survive for one TES single player to be watered down so the co op ers can get a single game thats good. Really, the single players are just selfish....

Still kinda angry,
Rimmy

"M'aiq prefers to adventure alone. Others just get in the way. And they talk, talk, talk..."

No?

I used to think that this would be great, now I think it would have to be SPLIT-SCREEN ONLY!

Also, co-op saves would have to be separate from single-player.

Alright alright..... ffs, everyone is saying that it wouldn't work well for the TES because of the way it's made..... WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A NEW GAME PEOPLE. Things can change. Don't think about co op in Oblivion, think about co op ABOUT the TES but made to suite it. For example, I said if they all rest then they can agree on a x number of hours to skip. People say this wouldn't work if you played with nubs but co op is made to play with friends. Things can change.

The tide changes,
Rimmy

Yes, of course co op saves would be differnt from single player, or else some thing would fuck up.

Quick reply,

Yes I know you don't want to roleplay. And thus, co op would be awesome for you. Because combat is soooo much better if someone is there with you (like you said) cept the AI are all retards.

Sorry about any problems,
Rimmy

I disagree.

The enjoyment in Bethesda games for me comes from the feeling of complete immersion in the environment and a lovely, relaxed zen feeling I get from exploring their worlds on my own.

Anyway, there would be huge balance issues due to the levelling.
This. Oblivion was my world to tackle.
Oblivion was the world I got lost and confused in. Then I fell down a hole.

But wouldn't there be some use to having someone playing as the distraction? Or helping you figure things out?
