I don't know WHY developers REFUSE, I mean they literally kick and SCREAM against putting full real coop into games. There is a LARGE, HUGE segment of the gaming population that enjoy playing with their friends. There is NOTHING cooler than going through a game with your buddies, going all the way back to CONTRA and Mario brothers. Look, I know some people would rather keep their single player single, and that's fine, since it's an OPTION for them they have no complaints. But games like Call of Duty... why is there no drop in online coop for the campaign? I just don't get it. Halo didn't have a problem doing it... nobody whined about how a "second master chief" RUINED the experience.

Even worse a culprit is Traveller's tales, whom I have decided to NEVER buy another game from them again until they put in ONLINE coop. The Lego games are fantastic fun, especially with a friend, in fact in some cases the games seemed DESIGNED with coop fun in mind... only its same couch coop... NO ONLINE coop. That's unacceptable in today's world.

TO me, not including COOP in a game is the same as how developers balked at MULTIPLAYER for so long until they finally realized that gamers were out and out ignoring games that DIDNT have a multiplayer component. Even RPGS are starting to have coop and multiplayer.

Honestly, I'm going to start a boycott. Games without COOP will now be removed from my "must have" list. Games with coop, even if its poorly implemented will get my dollars, if for nothing else to show a willingness to support developers that at least attempt to do things that the gamers want.
Mate I have only a few words.

YOU ARE FUCKING RIGHT!

Yup,

See, you would play co-op for FUN. FUN!
However, the single player mode is much more story and questing.
Co-op could just be free roam and no quest and I would still include it in my "Who not to kill with doomsday weapon" list.

The countdown has begun,

I am going to do something which I never thought I would to use Modern Warfare 2 as an example how to do thing RIGHT, I hate CoD with a passion the single player is very good but the multiplayer sucks but there is one thing that bugs me I really want to get Modern warfare 2 PURELY for the Co-Op missions but I don't want infinity ward to get any of my money but those Co-Op missions have made the game really made me think about giving money to a giant group of dicks people I hate what to you think skyrim will do for millions of people if it has equally good Co-Op

Yeah, see, CoD is bad design because it's just rush out the single player and tounge bath the multi player. See, the co-op in WaW was horrible. It was just the same as single player, but with less mission and fights over guns. I have played MW2 (I don't own it) and I thought it was pretty bloody good. But the person I played it with was just interested in getting no scopes and 360 kills.

Still waving the flag high,

It might be a bit weird. The quests are really only based on being for one person. Also, I don't quite see the draw of it. You're trying to maybe get some info or get into what's happening and your friend starts laughing and starts walking away, telling you to go dungeon diving with him.

Sounds like it would be fun. Why can't two people be completely immersed into one world? After all, immersion is just a step up from pretending.

However, you might at times fall into the same trap the Borderlands now does - you want to play with a buddy, but you're a level 30 halfway-there badass and your buddy's just now had his RPG cherry popped and quakes in his boots at a low-level ninja turtle*.

[sub][sub]That was a joke people. Although ninja turtles wouldn't be so out of place in Borderlands...[/sub][/sub]
Thank you at least you can see it through my eyes. Look at Dungeons and dragons, people still stay immersed. As for the level thing, thats true but like i said, if its with a good friend you can get past this.

I power leveled my friend in wow. It was all worth the while.

Just, i want this on Skyrim. Oblivion wasint as amazing as morrowind was, we need to recapture the magic of morrowind then let us share this epic joury with our friends, just like all epic fantasies, its never just one man. Even Frodo had sam.
One of the things I really liked in Fable 3 was having a fully realized hero that was played by somebody else fighting with me. Borderlands was infinitely more entertaining with my friend Daemon watching my back.

Oblivion allowed you to create spells that affected other people like Heal Other. However, there wasn't ever anybody to give two shits about beyond a couple of quests. Daemon and I have discussed a number of times how fun it would have been to co op Oblivion. I enjoyed it just fine as single player but it would have been fun to share some of my nasty poisons with my friend and double team the enemy.

One of my favorite things was power leveling friends in Diablo 2 so I get where you're coming from. I'm with ya, matey.

Would be cool, but not really necessary. I wouldn't use it - how are you supposed to explore when you have to stay together?

I think it would be interesting...

Though, I remember all the times in Oblivion when you're supposed to team up with a group of NPC's (Breaking the Siege of Kvatch [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Breaking_the_Siege_of_Kvatch], The Desolate Mine [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:The_Desolate_Mine_(quest)], etc.), where it just ended up being a cluster foxtrot and I accidentally killed as many friendlys as the foes did.

However, since I'm most likely going to be getting this on the 360 and am too cheap to use Live, if this feature is implemented, I doubt I'd get to use it.
It's not directly related to the OP, but Skyrim will have enemy magnetism. AKA if there's an enemy and an ally right next to each other, you'll hit the enemy.
The first statment..... WRONG.

You DON'T have to stick together. You would want to though, because it would be harder. But you can just run about on your own while your mate go and does some skooma for all you should care.

Snortin Skooma,
Rimmy

Personally I wouldn't wish myself upon another person in such a game.
Again, you wouldn't have to. They can start an open game if they are retarded and stupid or a closed game if they are smart and cool.

Is both smart and cool,

To me, Coop "missions" are a cop out. It's like how back in the day developers tacked on a crappy, obviously rushed and uninspired "multiplayer" to a game without adding anything to it, lame game modes, and difficulties connecting players. Worse, it seems like something they can actually attach a quick price tag too and soak a few more dollars out of us with.

Also it's still not what most coop enthusiasts want. Storymode coop is what they want. Honestly, this above all else would be a huge selling point to attract the CASUAL gaming community, a section of the gaming public that MANY companies have demonstrated a desire to attract (which is why all consoles now have a "motion control" gimmick.)

Imagine... some people just don't have the desire to sit through the entire COD story mode or 90+ hours of Elder Scrolls all alone in their living room. And nobody wants to watch someone ELSE play a game anymore. But think about how they could be reaching a potential market by word of mouth gaming? For example, a friend comes over. I'm playing Oblivion. He's like "that looks cool.." I tell him "hey go buy it, create a character and I'll play with you, show you the ropes." Boom, 1 in 3 friends is gonna do that. People like that they can play with each other from the comfort of their respective homes.

Don't think that'll work? World of Warcraft built an EMPIRE banking on the simple premise that friends like to play online with friends, and made it as easy as possible for even the most casual computer gamer to get his friends involved. They didn't invent MMO, but they made it so EVERYONE could enjoy doing it, not just the D&D geeks. And now they own everything.

Gears of War wouldn't have been as much fun to me without the coop, and I probably would have NEVER played Halo if not for a friend asking me to grab a controller and let's "Beat it together." Thats when I became a Halo fan for life.

I don't think it would feel as good with another who would maybe just constantly want to go dungeon diving. Or if your strolling through Skyrim observing the scenery to see some guy run across the screen and jump off a cliff or murder innocent citizens for "teh lulz"

Sigh, co op is with friends. If your friends are dicks, then they arn't your friends.

I was referring to whether the co-op would be played with players chosen at random, not with friends

isnt that what guild wars is for. Or any other mmorpg :p
Co op is differnt to MMOs.

Co op is usally ONLY with friends and say 2 or 4 people. In mmorpgs other people are there and you might work with them every now and then, but in co op it's always about working together. However, a TES co op would also be about role playing and huge sprawling maps just waiting for a nice fireball or sword to fuck some shit up. But you would still work together, because if it was co op it would be scaled to be harder.

That's all folks!,

Sigh, you don't want them to earn more money? You know, some games get lots of money because they are GOOD. And besides, if they DID have lots of money, think of the next game. It would be fucking awesome. And how the hell will it fuck up the game? Just because single players play single player doesn't mean us co op lovers have to suffer. Ok, if you don't want them to make money, ONLY play the first TES game. There. Now you can imagine there are no squeals and that TES is earning no money. Honestly, what the fuck?

(Scratch head),
Rimmy

EDIT: Don't say that Co Op will make single player worse. Think, so people love co op. You have had a full series of single player games. We have had NOTHING. And yet you think that you shouldn't suffer for a single game? So that us co op players can have a lot more fun? That's just plain, posh, ass hole, dick head selfishness.
