let me try again, much like Videogames it's generally accepted that the majority of the audience is men,
You've already lost me.

The ratio of men and women that watch porn and play video games is almost the same (about 60:40 in both cases). This notion that porn is made for men is nothing more than feminist propaganda and actively works to ensure women are forever sexually unequal.
Notice the word "accepted". I think Vault is saying that's what's percieved as being, not that it actually is, the case. Sort of like how everyone says that women are bitchy while on their period, which is untrue.
[sub]I'm bitchy ALL the time[/sub].

Although on the subject of porn... I'd probably like it more if it was less annoying "oh god oh god mmnn ahhh god!" and more like... "romantic"? idk. I haven't watched a whole lot.

Another way to look at it is that comics are obviously marketed towards men (women tend to be very scantily clad and with larger bosoms, and tend to be in ridiculous poses to highlight that fact), even though there are plenty of women who read them.
The men are all tall and masculine, wearing little more than skin tight outfits that show as much. They are either brave, boyish gentlemen or raw, aggressive animals, both classic examples of stereotypical attractions to women. There are plenty of men who read comics. What's your point? Women can like and enjoy comics with sexy heroines as much as men can the same with sexy male heroes.

The more people go on about gender differences, the more they exist.
The men are built as POWER fantasies- what (generally) men want to BE
The women are built as SEXUAL fantacies- appealling to the (general) man's interest.

Sorry, that goes both ways. Don't try that argument. Or would you attempt to convince me that female shampoo stars beautiful, sexy women because they want men to buy it? Ha.
You obviously don't realise how hilariously mysoginistic the comics industry can be.

And these women... they're the women that women want to be- a sort of "power" (too tired to think of a better word, sorry) fantasy but for women, I guess you could say. Of course they're going to be hot, attractive women, because most women want to be considered attractive... to males. Hurray society.

Regardless, comics and porn are MARKETED towards dudes. Does that mean women won't read/watch? Of course not. But doesn't stop the marketing companies.

No. I'm pretty sure this is what the captain said as the Titanic was leaving port. Yup, it kinda went like that, but the iceberg was just outside the port and the ship sank slowly but surely to horrify the observers. There were no survivors.

I think that would be very misleading. I'm afraid I might end up being solicited for sex by men and it would be really awkward when I turned them down.
"But aren't you a bisexual?"
"Well, yeah, but I don't like the cock."
"So you're biromantic, then?"
"No, I like the women."
"...But you're bi..."
"Yeah."
"So you like both?"
"Nope. Not a big fan of cock."
"But you're bi."
"Ayup."
"Surely you must be able to recognize some men as handsome or attractive to call yourself bi?"
"Well, as I'm sure you will agree, considering that you're propositioning me, I am fairly stunning... [http://art.penny-arcade.com/photos/1087535149_PNScU-L.jpg]"
"You're only autosexual...?"
"What? No, I don't fuck cars! How would you even do that? I mean... the tailpipe would scratch everything up and... *shiver*"
"No. 'Autosexual'. Sex with yourself. Having the hots for yourself."
"But I can't stick my dick in myself... Unless... I guess I could try to bend my dick back to my asshole..."
"If you could do that you'd be in pornos."
"Yeah. *zips pants back up* My dick might be impressive, but not that impressive apparently."
"So you're not autosexual?"
"No sir."
"You're bisexual?"
"Yeppers."
"Would you like to come back to my place then?"
"I've already told you: I don't want to touch your dick, damnit."
"You don't have to be the pitcher you know. You don't have to touch any dick at all."
"I'm not interested in having you touch my dick either!"

etc. etc.

What?
Are you laughing at the notion that I'd be solicited for sex by men?
I will have you know that my stunning muscular body and brilliant visage has bent many a straight man out of shape.

Do you not understand how life works? We've been evolving for millions of years (and other animals for even longer) with one primary drive: attract a mate. We as a species, both men and women, will do whatever it takes to be attractive to the opposite gender (homosexuality is a defect) and the urge to breed is perhaps the single universal force among every life form. Male birds use colourful plumage, spectacular dances and varied calls, lions fight and kill one another, sexless flowers use bright arrangements and alluring scents, and humans do everything they can to both seem normal and outstanding, average and eye-catching. Everything we do is a result of our urge to be attractive mates. For you to imply the notion of women wanting to be attractive to men is anything less than another part of nature, is laughable. Men lift weights, pick on weaker peers, try to appear funny and entertaining, push themselves to earn more money, even go so far as to foster a culture where being effeminate, weak or soft is unmanly. Others appeal to a more complex emotional side, displaying deeper empathy and personality relations. Why? We all want women to think we are the best choice for mate.

We are a product of our evolution and women are just as guilty of it as men. Some of us are defective or impaired (I'm pansexual, so I could well end up with a male partner and thus unable to procreate), but it is undeniable that social acceptance and one's ability to appear appealing is the most powerful force of nature.

There was actually more in that post and then I accidentally deleted it and then I was too lazy to fix it. I am QUITE aware of the fact that we want to attract a mate and that it is hardwired into us. But a lot of what we find attractive ends up getting dictated by society, too. Like, nowadays, you need to be a skinny person with larger breasts, whereas in some eras of history it was more attractive to be plump with smaller breasts, etc. That was kind of what I had been saying there. I'm not even entirely sure where I was going with it anymore, such is the fatigued mind. Bleh. Just ignore that bit.

I think that there was a report somewhere proving that pretty much everyone was at least a little bit bi, with a rare few being full straight or full gay.
Can't remember where I heard it, it could all be bullshit, but, eh.

Personally? I'll stay calling myself straight. My dick doesn't change much when it sees other dicks so it's simpler to just say straight.
Thats just the kinsey scale, a theory by one man which has some merit up until the point where it doesn't let people like what the want.

You have to be a number on a scale, and its just impossible for you to be straight/gay because this guy said so. Thus re-inforcing the irritating phrase "everyone is a little bi" which iv always seen as disrespectful to people who have looked hard at their opinions and chosen what they are.

I personally think it has some holes in it and have spoken to physc graduates who agree that it serves very little purpose. Labelling your self as straight as 1 or gay as 7 or bi as 4 doesn't effectively change anything.

I think honestly people just need to be less hung up over other peoples sexuality.
But... but... then what else would we do in our spare time?! D: WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH MY LIFE? ;_;
[sub]I agree.[/sub]

Well, we dictate society and not the other way around. If not, where did society come from? It's a product of the common mind, what most of us want or feel is acceptable.

Anyway, I have no idea why I got so aggressive with you. You've done nothing but be reasonable. I think I'm just sick of sexism and everything related to it. It's so tiresome. Like I said, I'm pansexual, so gender has always been a non-issue for me. My parents are also very open-minded and progressive, so I was raised in a home where race and religion or creed played no role in our judgement of others. I'm not perfect (lolduh) but I still like to maintain that logic. As such, any time someone does talk about gender, I find it impossible to see their point of view.

I just want everyone to stop talking about it and get over the idea of men and women. Yeah, the terms can be useful, but why can't we just see each other as people first and genders much later? The debates are all so repetitive and rhetorical. I'm over it.

's'okay bro, I've gotten all hulk-like over people before, too. Far worse than you did. It's a bit hard to see men and women as EXACTLY the same though, they are wired differently and have different variations of chemical whatsits floating around (in general). That's just a biological thing though. Socially there shouldn't be any difference. Except that there is. We're working at it. Slowly.

Universe will probably go into heat death first though... ;w;

but sexism can go both ways

the fact is there are some differences (and issues because of them), weather biological or imposed by society

its like saying there's no difference between the charachters Batman and Catwoman in terms of the chaarachters and how they are veiwed

-both based on animals
-both nocturnal vilgelanties
-both attractive

but the difference runs deeper than that

No! We must keep the faith! Who knows, maybe one day we'll both wake up and hear on the radio all about how humans have collectively decided to give up on racism and sexism and have realized that the whole thing was just silly.

It's possible...

Actually, speaking as a bisexual, I want to punch you. For insulting every single one of my gay, and strait, friends by indicating that you know better about their sexualities then they do.
Implying that homosexuals and heterosexuals should be offended by the notion that their sexualities are more complex than a black-or-white dichotomy.

I'm not actually sure if you agree with this or not. If not, then you've spent this entire time arguing with someone you agree with and defending someone you don't.
... No I haven't. You are so out of it. You have no clue how to read what people are actually saying. Clearly some kind of inbetween exists and he acknowledges it because he is bisexual. That does not mean that he has to agree that his heterosexual friends know less about their own sexualities than you. He did not say he was offended by the notion that it could be more complex. You're lying. And I agree with him that it's quite insulting to act like you know better about them personally.
First of all, I'm getting really sick of your ad hominem attacks. Your ability to remain civil and emotionally detached while debating is severely lacking. Which might explain why this is like arguing with a brick wall.

Secondly, why is it "insulting" to theorise about sexuality? People accept it when scientists "act like they know better about them personally" when it comes to most other aspects of their psyche and body. Or most other aspects of their life, for that matter. What is it about sexuality that makes us think we understand it so well? Why is it people think they completely understand how their own sexuality works -- something they can't even see or objectively observe -- yet would never perform surgery on their own body, despite the fact we know our own bodies better than any scientist or doctor.

Thirdly, if "clearly some kind of in-between exists" what exactly is your point? All I said is that "a grey area exists and everyone falls somewhere along it". I don't agree with the OP that we should call this "bisexuality", but I don't think anyone can reasonably claim that they are 100% straight and never fluctuate. I of course have no facts to back this up, because you would need to objectively determine the sexuality of every human to ever exist and see where they fall on the scale. But I don't believe it's likely to find someone so perfectly gay or straight. Regardless of what people claim, it just seems very unlikely.

That is the crux of my argument. Just because something is a spectrum does not mean that people cannot occupy the poles. Thinking as much is reductivist and I state, partially in jest, that among members of the bisexual community there is a growing trend of "Heterophobia", simply not understanding that heterosexuals can be just as sure of their sexuality as bisexuals, asexuals or homosexuals.
Sure, you can occupy the pole.
But what about the idea that sexuality fluctuates, and that nobody can stay on their end of the spectrum 100% of the time. I don't mean suddenly finding men attractive when you normally wouldn't (although that's a possibility), but minor ticks back and forth.

For an extreme example, you could consider lobotomisation. That's a certain way to dramatically shift someone towards asexuality.

In fact, presuming most emotional responses (including attraction) is a result of neuro-chemistry, it may be technically possible to alter someone's sexuality chemically. As controversial as that seems.
