I think Latin, Egyptian and Arabic were good ideas by people (also sign language) However, Japanese and all of those stupid Latin copy cats in Europe are stupid ideas.

Why are those better than the stupid ideas others have posted? First off barely ANY ONE speaks Japanese fluently or has it as their main language, secondly from Latin you can branch off, or get a job, Egyptian and sign language, because they are original and cool, and Arabic, because a lot of people speak it, though you would have to pick a specific Arabic dialect, since most of them are un-intelligible to another (they cant understand each other).

I, however, would pick the almighty CHINESE MANDARIN

The most people speak this language and it is pretty wide spread in the Indonesian area.

Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Farsi, or Hindi. It's a six-way tie (and I already speak French).

Slightly OT: I could speak any language and have people understand it (besides people who learn fictional languages), I would go for Quenya, Sindarin, Vulcan or Na'vi, because they sound cool.
