I can speak English and French (French is pointless) but the only language that would actually matter other than English is Chinese. But most of China speaks English too so even then.

Arabic to piss of my intolerant anti-Muslim metal shop teacher

Or Russian because it seems really interesting.

I would guess 98% of this thread will be Japanese. I am included in this statistic.

I'm working on my French, then I'm moving on to Spanish, German, and Japanese, more if I feel like it.

I'd learn Mandarin. I am already tri-lingual though, and it's not fun. I speak English, Shona and Ndebele fluently and Afrikaans almost fluently.

Sign Language, since I then have at least a chance of finding someone who will understand me wherever I go.
Sign language differs from country to country. For example, UK sign language is very different to US sign language. So no luck there.

I actually studied Japanese 100 this semester, but I found it really frustrating; not only is the grammar really tricky, but having to learn THREE different kinds of text, including literally thousands of kanji? Anyhow, my point is that even if I was able to fluently SPEAK Japanese, there's no way I could READ it.

As such, I'll go with my other pick... Latin.
