If you could do away with 1 gaming genre, what would it be?

MMORPGs or Sports Games.

It's more of a question of personal taste than because 'they're not good for the industry' or whatever.

sports games, they are in my eye's a money making machine not an actual way to make a good game, just a way to sell the same game over and over, only really making small updates and the only true improvement with time is graphics

Sports or Racing games. Sports for the soul reason that people can just go outside, bring a dozen friends and play a game of tag-football, or racing games because they can be tedious and just..well.repetitive.

Really?

Console shooter.

It has completely corrupted and oversimplified the fps/tps format while ensuring the industry does nothing but spin it's wheels.
This is what I was getting at. Some people want to get rid of genres cause they don't like them, others want to because they think it would benefit everyone.

I second turn based RPG's and or JRPG's. I hate turn based things, and I hate emos.
this, but mostly the emo part, well emo/twilight "goths", every item in my wardrobe is back or else incredibly silly and i get asked if i am an emo or a twilight fan far too often.

Movie tie-ins.

You occasionally get good ones, like... erm... those ones that I know exist but don't spring to mind right now, but most of them are just piles of dog crap with a chewed-up cherry on top.

FPS. Oh please let FPS die, the good games have all gone and now we are left with shit franchises focused upon online play and full of bitchy toddlers.
And yet they are still more fun than every other genre of games.

Sports games. A few of them are alright, like some of the Mario ones which are, at least, creative. Realistic ones and ones that release the same game every year with graphical updates and new rosters like Madden and such should go take a bath in a vat of hydrochloric acid.

Also, gritty, brown FPS. In Call of Duty, I get the feeling that I'm playing as a soulless drone. I also find the graphics unappealing. That's one of the reasons that I prefer Team Fortress 2; each class is well characterized, and everything is bright and colorful.

I particularly enjoy Racing games, either.
