If you could do away with 1 gaming genre, what would it be?

Why the hell would I destroy a video game genre plenty of other people enjoy heartily just because I don't happen to enjoy it? If I had to, I'd probably say sports games, but then we wouldn't have the awesome NBA Jam for the SNES.

I would never destroy a genre by choice that other people like just because I find it distasteful. I basically agree with Crono Maniac. If I really had to, sports, I guess.

Jumping on the bandwagon, First person shooters would be my first choice, followed by sports games. Not the cool ones like Mutant League, I'm talking about Madden, NHL, etc.

TURN BASED GAMES!

I can't stand the system, everything from Civilisation to KOTOR to any interchangable jrpg you wish to name. It makes the game feel less like a game and more like a dvd menu.

You want turn-based games? PLAY CHESS!

That depends... do I get to pick another genre to get rid of if my first choice is the casual shit that has no right to be a part of the video game industry?

Back on topic: Probably the sports genre. And possibly the racing genre if you consider those to also be sports (I like some racing games, though).

All Racing games and Sports games that take themselves too seriously. If I wanted to play the real thing I would do it and I don't find driving around in a circle that fun unless I can blow up the other person or have a nitros boost of some kind.

For me I would get rid of turn-based RPG's. Turn based is retarded. Worms is the only game that ever made it good.
Ok, your turn.

EDIT: either that or button mashie fightning games. They're all the same and none are fun.
ninja'd by the OT XD
anyways, yeah, i HATE turn-based combat and button-mashers, it seems like 2 ends of a VERY broad spectrum... i like it when games let you kick the shit out of an unsuspecting opponent before they even get a chance to move, because that's how REAL combat works, turn-based combat is just bullshit

on the other hand, fighting games are pointless and ass-backwards, i mean, unless fighting games like Tekken and Street Fighter were at a discount price (because they're really not much of a game anyways, just a bunch of guys standing in a tiny arena mashing random buttons until the other falls over...) then i wouldn't be so angry about it, but developers expect us to pay 65 dollars for a game that involves nothing more than K.O.ing the other guy in a 2-minute to five-minute time frame? WTF? I'd pay that much for a fully fleshed out and polished game like Shadow of the Collosus and Red Dead Redemption, games with large stories and huge worlds with a lot of fun and interesting ways to do things!

the only reason i tolerate the existence of casual games is because they're helping keep the industry alive... unfortunately they're a necessary evil (like arms dealers and the mafia)

Wait, why would I want to get rid of a genre? I don't like several, so I just, you know...don't buy them.
