The xbox 360. There used to be great classic consoles but I feel like replaying twenty year old games doesn't stand up to next gen games and wouldn't it suck to see a great new game come out and not have the ability to play it? I guess my favorite console will always be the newest and shiniest of the bunch.

you should note, all consoles have an operating system, they all serve a variety of functions as well. they are less consoles and more computers now, hence why you can use a ps3 as a linux computer and why you can watch videos online using netflix on a 360. there is no reason not to pic a pc if you use that as your gaming system. its legit, new modern games are released for it (just got modern warfare 2 and mass effect 2 last week)

Sega Genesis | Mega Drive or the PS2, for a multitude of reasons, neither has DLC, neither has updates, both have great longevity,some amazing RPG on both consoles, backwards compatibility on both systems (Genesis needs a part but shut up :U)

Great RPGs on Gen: Phantasy Star II, Phantasy Star: End of the Millennium, Shining Force 1 & 2, Beyond Oasis, Landstalker. Then include the upgrades, Shining Force CD, Phantasy Star II, Lunar 1 and 2.

Great PSOne/2 RPGs: Final Fantasy Tactics, VII, VI, V, I, II, Breath of Fire 3-4, Xenogears, Brave Fencer Musashi, Legend of Dragoon, Megaman Legends 1 and 2

C'mon there's just too much fun to choose from! And that's just RPGs.
