I wouldn't want to be president, to much responsibility.

And besides, if I was president I'd probably have been corrupt while running for that office or another one, and I don't want to be corrupt.

I'd probably get assassinated. People would look at me and go "God damned long-haired hippie! He's too young to be a President!" Then, as I'm trying to make a witty retort while staring like a deer caught in headlights at a large gathering crowd, the last two things to go through my mind would be "Oh shit..." and a bullet.

I'd be a right wing psychopath who declared war on anyone not American and not white whilst introducing tax breaks for the rich and punitive rises for the poor.

The people would love me as if I were their son...
Bush's term is over though, time for change?
Actually I was thinking about their current reaction to Obama.
If it's not necessarily the president they want, it's certainly the one they deserve.
cant argue there

Why only America? I've been sat here for years waiting for my Emperor of the Planet position and no one seems willing to offer me a chance to explain it -

Fine!

Probably not very much. 'Radical reform' still has to get past the House of Representatives/Senate and I can't much do whatever I want. Oh it'd be nice to have unrestricted power but not very likely to occur. That said, I'd try to rearrange our spending as best I can but the massive deficit the country is currently facing can't be fixed within a four/eight year period no matter how much I'd like to do so. Education needs a poke, as does the immigration laws.

I've never been a fan of the US healthcare system, being a child of the NHS, so I'd look into that as well, but please keep any disagreements to one of the other thirteen threads on that subject.

As for the military, I'd downsize it considerably, especially our air force and focus more on better training. Vietnam has taught us that throwing troops at a war doesn't win it, just like throwing money on a fire doesn't put it out. Having soldiers which are better prepared for everything and commanders with a better grasp on how to tactically proceed is better than an extra 10,000 troops to drop into some barracks so they can sit around in the desert for a year.

Energy wise, I'd push for more nuclear power alongside things like solar and wind. A lot of people seem to be apprehensive about Nuclear power but France has used it for a loooong time and though you might snidely say that they're all crazy enough to have radiation poisoning, they're still all fine.

As for technological development, fostering a closer relationship with Japan could only bring good things. They're crazy as sin and have some weird ideas of what to do in the bedroom but they're pretty damn good with technology. Plus if we make friends we might be spared the flame when their Giant Robot Army comes to down.

And to those with your lolfascistdictatorship ideals, isn't that the exact reason why Conservatives are so big on the Second Amendment?

What Fallout Jack said seems like a solid plan though.

I would steal France's heath care system and Finland's education system and try and stop our reliance on foreign energy.

And I would make people take a test before they could get married and have kids. And if you hit below a certain GPA in high school, you have to join the military for at least a year.

I'd have a friggin' backbone and do what I actually said I'd do! As for what I'd really do I haven't figured it out yet. But it would probably be very different from what everyone else is doing.

I would obviously go around killing off anyone who didn't agree with me. Rampant murder is the best solution, right?

Okay, serious time.

I would murder MOST people who didn't agree with me in order to preserve some opposing positions I can debate with.

HEAVY SARCASM IS HEAVY! What I would really do would be: reform the education system. That's the most important part: everything else comes afterward.

1. Ban all political parties. Politician would have to vote their own opinion, not party lines
2. Reduce the military budget. I want them to increase efficiency, do more with less, like renewable energy to power bases and certain vehicles.
3. Require at least 70% of out power is generated from clean, renewable resources in ten years. No more waiting around. Get it done already.
4. Set up a national education system that funds schools per capita, so each school would be funded the same, rich and poor districts alike.
5. There would also be a national curriculum so education will be standardized. In addition to usual subjects, they would also be forced to take political science, economics, art, and comprehensive fitness and health classes (including sex ed).
6. High fructose corn syrup will be taxed heavily. Its in everything, has no nutritional value and is causing untold health problems.
7. Universal health care
8. There would be a tax on stupidity. A big one. We would erase the national debt in a month.

Of course, I would be labeled a socialist by people who don't even know what that means, but hey, I'm the President. I don't have to care.

There was one exception as memory serves, but President's are only meant to serve 8 years maximum. Setting it for ten means that at least two years are out of your jurisdiction.

True, but the plan would already be in effect and almost completed, so it would be a very difficult and costly thing to stop. And if my successor agrees with me, there will be no problem.

I'd honestly end up fucking it up and then allowing the territory to go into a non-affiliated state, then watch the other countries establishing themselves in Once USA.
