It does look like a great game, but 10/10?
Well, it's his opinion, and I can't argue with it, seeing as I haven't played the game.

IGN? Pfft. They don't know how to review ANYTHING properly. Good games get pretty poor reviews from them, whereas actually bad games get good ones.

Why does everything have to be conspiracy!
If a game gets a good review, why is the first thing that jumps into peoples minds is that the reviewer was bought off?
And to people bringing up that every triple A flagship game ends up with good reviews, why on earth is that suspicious? The fact that it has a huge funding and is being advertised to death usually means that investors have a lot of faith that it is going to be a good game!

It really annoys me when people complain about reviews - yes I am aware that in a few cases there has been a conspiracy - but that doesn't mean every single review is!

The reason that its very rare for games to get a low score is not because the reviewers have boosted the score, its simply because games that aren't good enough don't get released and are cancelled as soon as it becomes apparent that they are not good enough!

Also, I hate it when everyone questions the reviewers opinions - who has just reviewed the final game - and assumes their own opinions are more accurate based on trailers and not having actually played the game in question!

Also one final point that the masses usually assume - 10/10 does not mean perfect. In this case, it even states it in the review. If you really think no game / film etc should get a perfect score, just imagine how stupid that would be if your work / educational projects / assignments were marked that way - knowing no matter what you did you couldn't achieve the top mark. That would be ridiculous.

Phew, it feels good to have gotten that off my chest.

That's one reviewer's opinion. He really loves that series though. IGN only gave Uncharted 2 a 9.6 and from what I've seen of the reviews so far, most people actually liked 2 better.

The reviewer sounded to me very unprofessionally. And I have never trusted IGN for anything.

Anyway, I think people should stop putting Gamespot and IGN in the same department. They are nothing alike. Gamespot's scores have been generally lower and they have, generally, a more professional staff.
(Gamespot gave Uncharted 3 a 9/10.)
A more professional staff that fires their reviewers when they give Kane and Lynch a bad review?
I agree with their score in this situation, I'm just saying I would trust even IGN over Gamespot.
I like Gamesradar, they used to just hand out 10's like they were nothing but they don't give them out nearly as much anymore.

No one can comment on IGNs 10/10 until they have played the game.I wish people would stop doing this judging things before they have even tried them.

To be honest i am not a huge Uncharted 3 fan but i cant say Uncharted 3 is not the best game ever made.Because i havent played it yet.It is very doubtful that Uncharted 3 is a 10/10 game but i can not judge as i have not even played the game.

So lets stop attacking reviews or games that we have not even played as it is totally absurd too and a waste of time.

Oh, damnit. The 3 in the thread title made me read a score of 3/10 with a typo. I was all ready to be shocked and delighted that IGN would ever review a AAA title poorly.

*has no beef with Uncharted or Sony*

An average series? That's your opinion, guys. I think Uncharted has very refined gameplay, MUCH better than average storytelling, great visuals, and fluid pacing.

And what the hell is wrong with a game receiving a 10/10? God forbid the game might actually be, you know, VERY, VERY GOOD. Nah, that's not possible. It's been scientifically proven. Because you've all played it, right? And the reviewers have not? No? That's what I thought.

How about toning it down a bit until you guys actually play the game? I too was skeptical of the high Uncharted 2 scores, until I actually played it and nearly went to heaven. Just sayin'.

A 10/10? oh well then clearly this game is perfect in every way for every audience.

Am I the only one who's gotten more worried about this game from this, rather than being reassured?
Does it allay your fears to hear Destructoid gave it a 10/10 as well? The same site that came under fire for daring to give GoW3 an 8/10. Referred to as Hate out of 10 in the twitterverse. Jim Sterling games editor at Destructoid (of Jimquisition fame) seems to be credible.

So now Uncharted 3 is supposed to rank as among "gaming's finest moments", according to the review.

It's times like this that remind me how much I love Zero Punctuation. Yahtzee, no fan of the series, is going to love this.

And by "love", I mean take a big penis-shaped needle and deflate the Uncharted 3 hype balloon.

People pay attention to IGN still? They've been selling review scores for ages.

WELL YOU KNOW WHAT I GIVE IT? I GIVE IT A 0!
Seriously though, they gave this game a 10 in graphics while battlefield 3 got a 9.5. It is starting to look like the people over at IGN don't even play these games.
they just go with popular opinion AT BEST!

IGN has a bad habit of giving high scores to any big name sequel. This does not surprise me in the slightest.

Can Uncharted 3 be worthy of a perfect score? Possibly, but I wouldn't take IGN on at their word.

I did not expect the first few posts to be ignoring the quality of these games. But okay.
Allow me to translate that:

I did not expect the first few posts to be talking about my perceived quality of the game
Which shortens nicely to:

I am a fanboy of this game, and I am disgusted that there are posts here that aren't lathering it in tounge-baths.
Why so sore? Talking about the culture of game reviews is just as valid as talking about the actual merits of the game itself. Note I say actual. Not what you want everyone to say.
You jump to quite a few rather conclusions about me. Admittedly, my post could have been clearer, so now that you misinterpreted it so wrongly you get three paragraphs of increased clarity! Yay you!

Of course it's okay not to be a fan of this game. But this is also one of those games which has a certain production value that simply cannot be denied. It has a certain cinematic quality that is its main selling point. Now if you don?t like that, or you?re one of those people who thinks it?s a cardinal sin for a game to take inspiration from other mediums, that?s fine. You won?t like the game, and I accept that. But those production values are very difficult to objectively deny, in that it simply can?t be done.

As another example, I did not like Resident Evil 4. It?s kind of petty, and perhaps I could get past it if I tried playing it again now, but I hated the control scheme. However, despite this, I recognized even from the little I played that it is a quality game. The graphics were top-notch, the presentation was suitably suspenseful and stylish, the systems were elegant and well-designed? my personal distaste for the game does not mean I will claim it?s simply an average, wholly mediocre experience, because I recognize that it is not.

My comment was simply meant to express my surprise that a series so generally loved, and with some recognizable levels of quality regardless of taste, got so only a couple positive comments in the first 10+ posts of this thread. I wasn?t mentioning the review scores at all, because the posts to which I was referring were talking about the actual quality of the Uncharted series. Of course the culture of reviews is worth discussing, but that simply wasn?t the subject of my comment, so I?m not sure why you brought that into the picture.
