I think there's one thing I can say fair and square - things like this does not help America's image problem, and may have helped cause it in the first place.

Someone once said that thousands of monkeys with typewriters would create masterpieces of "Shakespear-esque" magnitude.

Thanks to Facebook we proved him wrong.

And America wonders why people hate them??
Seriously, how the hell do they connect WW2 to a soccer match, its like america having a basketball match against germany and germany wins, i wonder if they'd do the same thing o_O

Who the fuck is proud about Hiroshima? What kind of sick, disgusting pervert lords that over people? And for a soccer game!?

Americans wonder why they're not thought too highly of by the world at large.

We still don't know the whole story. For all we know that man was drunk when he posted that comment. In your example of having links to the KKK, that is good enough evidence that he really feels that way. In this case, without further information it's not fair to let him lose his job.
He posted it on his board, one that all the kids in the academy could clearly see, and he's left it there without any sign of removing it or posting an apology.

Do you know why there are lots of stories about teachers getting fired for what they say on Facebook? It's your viewpoints, one Japanese youth in his academy follows and reads that and bam, all the work done at the academy is done.

These are at Risk youth, most likely extremely high chance of suicide, issues with authority, it doesn't matter if he just did it on a drunken binge.
Alright then, I just do not agree with you. I don't find one tasteless comment bad enough to maybe completely destroy this man's life.
I'm not going to fire him, I simply wrote a professional Email that I was displeased with a comment that he made, that I felt it was culturally insensitive, and linked his Facebook. If they fire him over this then thats their prerogative, he represented Varangon as soon as he wrote it clearly as his place of employment.

Find anything that people are even remotely passionate, and the grotesque hyperbole is going to fly. On the internet, it's even worse. The vast majority of those posts are almost definitely jokes. Relatively tasteless jokes, but some relatively tasteless jokes are funny. I'm not worried about the majority of those posts because I can't bring myself to believe that the posters are taking themselves seriously.

Then of course, there are the ones that go so far there is no excuse.Tthe person calling the Japanese filthy animals, for instance. Some are trolling WAY to hard. Most of them are entirely too serious about the sport. Others seem to be genuinely xenophobic, which is truly terrifying.

also Japan and Germany surrendered. how is that a victory?
also the americans did not join the war until 1941 the war started in 1939(little late to the party). while other countries were getting the shit beaten out of them and having millions dying. America just prances in and says we will come and save the day!
Quick history lesson.

Yes, France/Britain declared war on Germany in 1939. They didn't do a damn thing about it until April, 1940. The real war didn't get started until May of that year, when Germany invaded a country people evidently cared about (France). Prior to that, the European forces were engaged in what the Germans jestingly referred to as the "Sitzkrieg", the sitting war.

The Soviets mostly took the war as an opportunity to increase their territory, carving out a fair chunk of land for themselves on their western borders. They would not join the war in any real capacity until they were invaded in June of '41.

The Lend-Lease act was signed into law in March of '41. The United States was actually making significant contributions to the war effort BEFORE the Soviets.

England always brings WW2 in when we play Germany at football. It's just a bit of banter.

I thought nothing could be more pathetic than people saying that the earthquake and tsunami were payback for Pearl Harbor.

I was wrong. >_<
Actually, I'd say that this still isn't as bad because saying the earthquake and resulting tsunami are payback for Pearl Harbor could be seen as actually claiming responsibility for causing said earthquake.

Ummm...

I'm gong to be honest, I've sort of lost track of what we were arguing about.
Heh, no matter. Hardly world shattering.

Basically, your original post made it sound like you hated everyone on Facebook, regardless of whether they have "caused suffering" or not. I have a Facebook profile, and I couldn't see why I deserve to be repeatedly electrocuted.
This was partly the point I was making. You didn't disagree with the guy above who wanted to dip them in lava, but from the potential threat to yourself. If I wanted to bring down Facebook - for similar reasons to bringing down News International or the like - you'd fight against me, because you would seek to defend those people.
I think our disagreement stems from how we look at this image. You think that every one of the people quoted is a horrible, racist human being, and I favor giving the people who made Hiroshima out to be some kind of victory the benefit of the doubt.
I really don't you know. I think these are people who are saying horrendously offensive things, and worse, have no idea on how offensive these things are. I've often said I don't believe in racism, just people being generally offensive.

I know I've said some terrible, terrible things in the name of comedy around friends.
And lord forbid that that's blocked, but this isn't what Bookface is about...and I really want people to remember that.

I assume you're a pretty cool guy, and I assume that you don't actually want to subject every Facebook user to electric shock.
Don't afraid of anything either. ;)
If that made any sense, good. If not, then it's probably because that was a very "stream of consciousness" post, just like most of my posts. Either way, I'm really tired of this thread.
It made sense, but I think your tiredness is causing you to see enemies when there are none there. There's a huge difference between tirades and hate-speech, and although what I said could be harmful, no-one took it as anything more than "Look at Root bleating".

In comparison, imagine if this was a Religious thread, or I was defending Americans, or Scientology - not only would I be vilified, but my entire sub-group would be attacked.

Just as you came to the defence of the Facebook sub-group.

The theing I think we all need to do to go forward is to drop joining in with these sub-groups to attack or defend. The people in the picture are jerks, who happen to be American.

Let's just tell them their jerks and have some way of chastising them, instead of calling for their execution or holding their freedom higher than their victims.

But really, what the hell is it with facebooking americans and their irrational hate of the Japanese? And Why are they wearing the war crime that is nuking Japan as a badge of pride? Tons of civilians were subjected to white hot death by nuclear explosion, and they think that's something to be proud of? Sheez, guys. Yikes.
just one thing that has been building up in me that I need to let out. When we let the nukes fly we were saving lives just to give you an idea of how many much death was expected if we invaded mainland japan we are still using all the purple hearts that were made for the invasion of Japan. After the Doolittle raid Japan pulled a lot of troops back we would have been in for carnage the likes of which man had yet to see at least with the bombs we kept the death toll down, and it wouldn't have even just been soldiers dieing many civis would have committed suicide to stay out of the hands The American Pig men.

OT: retards will be retards move along nothing to see here.

To all Escapists who are not American: I am so sorry that a large portion of my nation are a bunch of stupid, ignorant twats. Please ignore them and focus on the ones that try to act like normal human beings, such as those of us on The Escapist and other places.

telling by its resources yeah (starting of kamikaze squardrons) but the japanese didnt want to bring themselves shame so they wanted to fight to the death.

the americans then just used one of their few remaining aircraft carriers(so i remember) that survived the unprovoked attack of the japanese air fleet on the marine base at pearl habour.(pearl habour was the entrance card for WW2 for the americans. without it russia would have 'won' the war. infact they kicked more ass) with a B-29-Bomber named ?Enola Gay? to hiroshima to drop the first atombomb in August 6, 1945.
japan was shocked but still had the motivation to fight to the end. so the americans droped a second bomb on nagasaki three days later.

these along with the Soviet declaration of war against Japan on 8 August 1945 let them to surrender.

these bombs were reserved for germany. but they surrendered just in time to get off the list.

death toll pearl harbour: 2.403 soldiers, 57 killed civilians.
death toll atombombs : 90,000?166,000 killed in Hiroshima 60,000?80,000 killed in Nagasaki mostly (95-98%)civilians. not counting those from radiation in the following years.

well i hope you learned a bit.
Thanks very much for the information ^.^

I was under the impression that America manipulated Japan into attacking by cutting off trade routes thus forcing them to attack and the Japanese kind of have a history of not... politely announcing that they're going to attack you.

when will my fellow Americans realize that WE didn't win World War II?

A completely different populace won World War II. We are merely the inheritors.

STOP REFERRING TO PAST EVENTS OF YOUR COUNTRY AS "WE"

What the fuck is a gook?
That's gotta be the stupidest insult I've ever heard.
Gooks is a racists word for vietnamese people. But apparently some people don't know the difference between Japan and Vietnam. The term was popularized in Vietnam war movies.
Arrogant ignorance, that has to be new.

Looks like I have a long night of facebook abusing ahead of me.

I bet that if they took a little walk around there house they would realize half the shit in there was made in Japan, "that's a nice tv you have, where was it made?", "is that a Japanese car you have there?".

"some people are only alive 'cos it's against the law to kill them".
