Usually I'm close-quarters, fire support or demolition. Or a combination of two of those (usually close-quarters and demolition).

Mage in fantasy games, Sniper in real life war games/WRPGs. I just like being able to kill from a distance, or using fire balls and lightning bolts. ^^ When I play Fallout, I always play as a sneaky survivor sniper. Because that's what I would be in real life. :)

I'm either the Sniper as I love the "thrill of the hunt" if you will.
That is how I feel too. I just love stalking an enemy down, finding his hidingspot, finding the perfect location, waiting and then taking his head off, without ever getting noticed, or my hands dirty. *evil smile*

Techie. I like to build or alter machines to do my bidding and avoid direct confrontation. I also like to manipulate the environment to get things done rather then the direct barging in approach.

I like to be the glass cannon. I operate on a philosophy of "Hit once, hit hard, and run from anything that's still alive, because holy hell it's indestructable".

If it's a single player game, I usually pick the tank or the main damage dealer that doesn't need very much support. I find that either the ally AI isn't that helpful, or I just don't know how to control them properly.

On the other hand, if it's a multiplayer game, I prefer to play as a support class. Let other people manage the damage dealing, I'll be sitting over here making sure no one dies.

Let's see...I can use genius-grade intellect to build superweapons and/or warping the very fabric of reality to my will...

Or I can hit things with a piece of metal. Quite possibly only made particularly useful by a genius-grade intellectual who warped the very fabric of reality to make it perpetually aflame or some such.

Give me the mage-style character any day of the week.

I flip-flop.

Sometimes,I go for the guy who can drop a skill combo and rape everything in the room (Glyph of Repulsion,Glyph of Paralysis -> Paralysis Explosion. Firestorm=everything in the next room is either dead or hurting VERY badly)

Other times I'm the swirling dervish of death (the really fast attacker). And sometimes,I just like to be that one guy who simply refuses to go down.

I'm always the skillful rogue.
I must have some sort of OCD, because I just can't stand to see chests and doors sitting there all locked up and stuff.
How dare people try to hide things from me by locking them up!
Yep, this is pretty accurate.I love to kill with Style as well, which is what Rouges are good at. Or, I'll be the mage, the one who casts buffs and debuffs, then AOEs. Or the direct damage one, thats fun too. Healings fun too, as is being indecisive.

I tend to avoid healing classes because I don't want to be responsible for keeping people alive, simply because they were arbitrarily placed on my team.

Keep your own damn self alive.

Anyway, I'm usually the "monster-truck who walks like a man" (to steal a line from Yahtzee) brute who only solves problems by smashing it into another problem.

blocker: high defense and hp and average attack try my best to make this archetype in every game I play as I kick ass with it (also improvisation helps).

I am always the Dwarf Paladin. No matter what system I'm in, I will be the dwarven paladin. Hell, I could be playing a modern system, set now, and I'd manage to weasel my way into playing as a Dwarven paladin!!

I play the spunky girl who uses and manipulates everyone to get what she wants.
Also, spell flinging (if allowed) helps me solve anything that I can't talk my way out of.

I liked the Mesmer class in GW. It was just the right amount of hanging back, but still able to be on the offense. Healer is a little too far back and vulnerable for me, and Warrior is too upfront and depended on.

Which gaming archetype do you always play?

For me, I'm always the side of beef, the warrior, the tank, the one with an axe who tends to detest hit evasion in favour of catching blows with his head. Big boot or axe swing later, and the enemy is in pieces. Hooray!

How about you? Are you the quick rogue, the powerful but badly defended mage? The noble and oft-unsung healer?

Which character do you rush to play when you start a new game?
Same, my friend. But I love playing mages second time through.
