The other day I downloaded the NES arcade version of Smash TV on XBLA. It's a fantastic little game, and I really appreciate the direct port as opposed to messing with the graphics and mechanics. This of course, also brings with it the outlandish difficulty that comes with any good NES title, and you can except to die about 50-500 times on your first hour long run through of the game. After playing through it twice, I realized that I only had 30 achievement points, and that puzzled me, considering the fact that the game just isn't very deep. You have a gun, you point and shoot crazy people wielding bats. I went on to read the description of the achievements and was blown away. All the the biggies were completing the levels without using a continue. For those of you unfamiliar with this game; going through the entire game without using a continue would be an EXTREMELY difficult task unless you are Billy Mitchell or Steve Weibe.
To be fair, of course no achievements on the 360 are "impossible,"(probably...) and this topic isn't about Smash TV. Its about the feeling of absolute despair that I was engulfed with when I read an achievement (or in my case four achievements) that there was just no discernible way for me personally to ever achieve. Now, I don't judge my self-value on XBOX achievements but damn...
Has anyone else here ever come across an achievement that they feel is next to impossible?
