My Breton Bard, Lucien LaCroix is being led to his execution because he illegally entered Skyrim... and slept with a nobleman's daughters... and tried to escape back into Cyrodiil once caught...

he had filthy sex with the son of a king, and did so on an altar while summoning dremora for sexual purposes
or alternatively
a descendant the creepy skyrim alchemist sharing her taste for necrophilia
Is there anyone in this thread who WASN'T arrested for steamy sex with a royal?
My guy got arrest for sodomizing a tree, it may have been a royal tree does that still count?
I'm going to pretend I didn't just read this.

But really, I'm pretty sure the viking-inspired Nords with all their drinking must have seen a few cases of inter-organism coitus before.
I don't know why he didn't use that at his trial....I guess Nords don't make good lawyers

So a while ago we got a poll for your crimes in Oblivion, now I ask you, why is your character in Skyrim being led to his execution?
Way back in ye olden days, a blind man was granted the gift of knowledge by Sheogorath. The sheer volume of information drove the man insane. He spent the remainder of his life transcribing his gift onto the walls, floor and ceiling of a cave he stumbled across afterwards.

This man's writings and drawings were discovered by my character, an Ork, as a child. Using the knowledge depicted therein, he involved himself (mostly hindering) in a number of affairs of ill-repute. As one might imagine, several people were unhappy with his involvement.

Eventually, after almost a year of interfering with illicit operations, my character finally crossed the line and slew a minor leader of the Dark Brotherhood. In response, the Brotherhood put out a hit. The contract paid well enough that my character couldn't stay in the same place for more than 6 hours without being attacked.

After a few weeks of that, just barely keeping ahead of the assassin's, my character finally stumbles into Skyrim. At the same time, a sizable group of Dark Brotherhood caught up with him. Battle followed, ending only when the Nord guards of the village intervened, driving off the Brotherhood. Unfortunately, my character was lost in bloodlust and unthinkingly struck down one of the guards.

The remainder of the guards piled on and restrained my character. After a swift and decisive trial, my character was sentenced to death by beheading.

[a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120901/"]Wrongfully Accused[/a].

Seriously, though, it changes for each character I play. I have a backstory for one character than has spanned TES III, IV, and now into V that explains how he managed to be each Main character.

Others will be based on the character I want to play. I'm sure one will be a suspected rebel. Another will be the victim of racial intolerance. Then there's murder, theft, etc. Tons of options, and I'll use most of them.

I got into a tavern brawl and several men died. They shouldn't have pulled knives, it was invitation for me to use my own. For some reason, the guards didn't believe that they pulled their weapons first, probably because I only had a few minor wounds. I may have aggravated things by insinuating that the guardsman were only arresting me because I was a better fighter than they were, and questioning the race of their parentage. It probably didn't help that I almost killed one of them trying to escape. It would probably make him feel better if he believed that his armor saved his life, but it had more to do with the fact that I didn't want him to die.

"But your honor, plenty of Nords have gone running through the streets raiding villages and sodomizing trees?"

Judge: "Nonsense! Where's your proof?"

"This picture of you doing it..."

Judge: "Where did you get that?"

"Uh..."

Judge: "GUILTY! Case dismissed."

"But...!"

Judge: "GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!"

He managed to draw attention from some of the big players in the Imperial city's various factions.

To protect the status quo, he's quickly and quietly extradited to Skyrim, all links to his past life cut/silenced, his assets split up amongst the various ominous illuminati-like forces in play, and framed for the murder of some family in the middle of nowhere. But of course, being Dragonborn, no-one can prevent his destiny.

In my world, Tamriel is governed secretly by a secret organisation of various secret factions. They control the markets, the general economy, and can make people disappear in the blink of an eye. Anyone in a position even remotely high up any kind of socio-economic ladder is there, either, because they're directly involved in the affairs of this group, or simply because the group allow it.

Of course, not even they have an answer to the threat of dragons.

(Edit:) This is my default scenario in which I play the Elder Scrolls series. It serves to plug any plot holes I come across in my play-throughs.

I'm pretty sure a developer stated that the reason you're being executed is for illegally crossing the border (sorta understandable; civil war makes illegal immigrants quite suspicious). However, the reason why you DID cross the corner is left completely ambiguous.

Usually being some kind of Breton rogue-mage, I might be either an assassin on the run or an agent from a different region (probably Cyrodiil or Highrock) trying to assess the political situation for my liege.

He was a thieves' guild member who was contracted to break into "The Best Defense" in the imperial city in order to steal some armor for the guild to use. However, the owner was apparently awake and in the store when he entered the shop, and in his panic he struck her down. The ruckus was heard by the other shops, as this was a messy kill, and he was captured by the imperial legion. He was expelled from the thieves' guild for his murder, and found himself trapped in the imperial city's prison. However, through an oversight, he was placed in the same cell as the Hero of Cyrodiil, and accidentally stumbled on a switch to open a door in the side of the cell. He escaped through the sewers and traveled North, where he was captured at the border to Skyrim.

So, he murdered an old lady.
