Oblivion has got to be the worst game I have ever played, such restrictive gameplay no choices very little to see and do overall i felt cheated for getting the goty edition at $20 in a garage sale.

I play all sorts of games, as i am a bit of an Gamescore addict so i have played my fair share of awful games
Too human
Far cry 2
Duke nukem forever
The CSI games
Lost the game
Alone in the dark
Need for speed shift 2
The latest Final Fantasy
Army of Two the 40th day

These are just some of the awful games i have played, some for Achievements, but some just because i thought they would be good and they turned out to be truely awful

The first Final Fantasy. There's literally almost no story direction what so ever and the insane amount of grinding required to progress anywhere is aggravating.

I pretty much hate every game thats has been released past 2000. The classics are great and cant be beaten (though some were bad, it wasnt that many), the new games released these days are just generic copies of them. Allthough there are some games released past 2000 that are good, theyre few and far between.
So basically PS2/Gamecube/Xbox/Dreamcast (ok some overlap here) era onwards games were all rubbish I think you will find that for every classic there were a lot of broken and or downright horrible games back in the day especially pre 90s because it was a lot easier to make them whereas nowadays games are rarely unplayable even if they are bad, and generic copies? you serious I would say highly advanced copies at the very least there is not an infinite number of completely different game concepts its how you put it all together and breath new life into an old idea thats important.

Also some of the name drops here like Persona 3,Ocarina of time,FFVII,FFX,Okami to name just a few, if any of these are the worst games you have played you have done exceptionally well you probably only play one game a year max. Whats more probable is that you hate those games for whatever reason and while you can certainly use that as an arguement for saying its the worst game youve ever played it takes an exceedingly bitter deep seated hatred of something to blind you of anything of redeeming value in such a game I really dont like Halo 3 for example I found it just atrocious in many many ways story, character, gameplay etc but even I could see it was not a bad game as such its just really bad to me.

For me personally the worst game I have ever played was a c64 game about the incredible hulk (probably called incredible hulk, i cannot remember) and at the start you had to get out of a chair but (and I dont know if this was just my copy) the command supposed to make him stand up seemed to be glitched to hell reloaded multiple times finally he stood up walked fell down a pit died and was put in that god damn chair again (and hes still there now....probably).

A more modern one would be warrior within again mine glitched to hell reloaded a save and suddenly im the dark prince in a spot ive never seen before getting slaughtered by enemies because I have no damn health restarted the game and it happened again in a different spot maybe it was just my copy/bad luck again but the controls and camera angle were pretty poor compared to Sands of Time. Other honourable mentions are ofc too human (for reasons loads have already stated, but mine was playable :) up until I stopped at least, although tbh I would have preferred it if it had been completely unplayable this time)and custers revenge I would say E.T but I have never played it.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon started off well enough, until I realized everything I love about Fire Emblem is missing from the game and the visuals are about as attractive as a pile of mud, even by the series' standards. However, that is mostly about shattered expectations more than the game being objectively bad (though it is incredibly mediocre and unremarkable). The actual worst game I've ever played is Harvest Moon: It's A Wonderful Life. There is absolutely nothing to do in that game. Only 3 wooable girls and extremely simplified mechanics = one boring hell of a game.

Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust. I knew it was going to be bad, but I wasn't prepared for exactly how bad. Boring gameplay, frustrating camera, and really, really awful jokes. It's the sort of game that throws in a reference to a concentration camp in the hope of getting a cheap laugh.

No, I'm not making that up.

im going to get a lot of flak for it but legend of zelda ocarina of time is by far one of the worst games i have ever played. I dont see why everyone liked it so much, call of duty black ops is a very very close second and spiderman 3 the video game is third

Typically i dont buy horrible games, ( i did buy ODST but just for the map pack disk) but out of what my brother has bought makes the majority of the list.
1 Operation: Desert Storm this game was even by the times standard kinda like shit in a fan. Guns sucked, team commands sucked, enemies ai sucked, missions sucked, ect.

2 Sonic and the secret rings or something like it, there was a time when i was a sonic fan, but SA2B marked the last so-so game.

These two are neck and neck for games that i hate, with a side of napalm.

I've said it many times in threads just like this, and I'll say it again:

Rugrats Time Travelers for the Game Boy Color. That game has some of the worst design I've ever seen.

First of all, every level is like a vertical maze. You move your character left and right, climb up and down ladders, and avoid pitfalls in search of a big coin. But with that formula comes many problems. There's a STRICT time limit, there's no map whatsoever to help you find the coin or the exit, you have no way of defending yourself from harm (in the first level, stuff like bats, rats, worms, gophers, and rocks on a minecart track) besides jumping with some of the worst controls on the system, it isn't explained at all what collecting baby bottles throughout the map does, and it just straight up isn't fun.

The only praise I have for the game is that the character animation is quite good. Chuckie looks great as he walks around the first level... It's a shame I couldn't see any later levels, because the first fucking level is almost impossible to beat without a guide. Seriously, it's nearly impossible for even me today, nevertheless a child of 7 or 8 that it's aimed at.

I've played several really bad games, like Star Wars: Bombad Racing was one, but out of the recent games I've played, Too Human has to be one of the worse. It had poor combat, which I was very disappointed by because I thought the idea was great, but it turned out to be total shit. Plus it's pretty hard to beat down Norse mythology the way they did. I don't think anyone can depress it like they did. And then there's the death animation. Enough said. Honestly, am I the only person sick of games not letting you die? It's not often, but games like Fables 2 and 3 and Too Human just hate to see the player die don't they? Also, Fable 3 is pretty high on my hated games list.

Oh GOD, this is like a thread of "Worst game of the past three years". Trust me, there is a LOT worse if you go further back.

But sticking with recent games for the moment (bearing in mind that that means anything from the last six years or so for me) - I gotta go with "FEAR". Such good graphics and engine, such a terrible game.

Looking back to the heady days of my youth though... look, I played some huge stinkers. I bought the "Quad-gaming pack" for the C64 (which had "Superboy" and "Crackdown" on it.) I owned the C64 conversion of "Double Dragon". I played, and finished, "Batman Forever" for the Sega Megadrive (or Genesis for our American friends), which is actually not quite as bad as it's cracked up to be. I've also played, but not finished, "TMNT" on the Nintendo Entertainment System, which is sort of a stealth stinker - the frustration creeps up on you. I've played the C64 and Amstrad versions of "Ghostbusters". (The C64 one is actually pretty good, if you don't mind the soundtrack.) I played "Ballz" (and kinda enjoyed it as well). Hell, I even played the original 2D "Ninja Gaiden".

So what I'm basically saying is that even though I'm a "casual" gamer now, I'm more hardcore than pretty much all of you "gamers" who were raised on "Gears of War" and its ilk. I EARNED the right to call myself a gamer, guys. I walked through the fire and stared into the abyss (in the case of "Hunchback", literally so. Seriously, that game is one huge morass of black with a few brown areas that you can stand on and one grey sprite that you control. And that's IT.)

I mean, seriously, I can't believe there are people naming "Halo", "Half Life 2" and "Wolvenstein" in this thread. MAN UP, guys. Play some REAL stinkers.

Worst game I've ever played...? I'm tempted to say "Double Dragon" on the C64, but at least you could use the wall-jump glitch to see the ending of it. "Vigilante" and "Street Fighter: European Version" on the other hand, you stood zero chance of ever completing because the controls and bosses were just so horrible. And "Ninja Gaiden" is just self-explanatory.

My choice: "Street Fighter" on the C64 (European version, the American one was actually pretty decent for its time). I couldn't get past the first fight - most of the time I couldn't even hit the guy I was fighting. It's impossible to play, simple as that.

the sims. People actually like this game? A blank screen would have been more enthralling. to each their own, I guess.

Also, I hate how they started calling him "Eggman". He will always be Dr. Robotnik to me. Actually, in Sonic Adventure, Eggman was an insult ... so now he goes by that name? Ugh. Also, which sounds more vile and evil: Dr. Eggman or Dr. Robotnik?

I rest my case.
O.K. Can you people please stop getting this wrong. Dr. Eggman is Dr. Robotnik's GRANDSON. THEY ARE DIFFERENT PEOPLE.

And I would say the worst game I have played is Call of Duty 5 on the wii. Laggy, no zombies, hardly any multiplayer modes. Just terrible.

MAG, an unbalanced and incredibly boring multiplayer game. Its only gimmick (the huge game sizes) is also its biggest downfall: matches take too long to start, it's bullet hell, explosives spam everywhere, it's impossible to do anything without being mowed down by literally a dozen of campers.
