I'm English and I hate the fact that a ridiculous amount of us seem to believe that we're still the leaders of a big fuck off Empire. What the fuck?? We're a small, pretty insignificant island! We have nowhere near that amount of power anymore and we need to come to terms with that fact, pronto. I'm sick of being America's lapdog and thinking we're cool because of it.

I hate that people think we're too good for the EU too. Like we wouldn't immediately go into collapse if we left it. Fucking morons.
the sun hasn't set on the empire yet it's just gone behind a cloud or somthing ...
I am a patriotic 25% welsh, 74% English and 1% Russian...
Yay.
Also I went to a posh school (primary) so I guess I have a posh/Somerset acent.
How'd you go about getting ONE percent of an ethnicity? That's quite a feat

Also, your avatar is the funniest thing I have seen all day. Kudos, I actually giggled like a little boy
meh it's rounded it's more like 60% of the 1% is Russian and the rest is lost in time perhaps scottish or Irish nobody knows...

I think the English are the greatest people on Earth, no other country can do anything as well as the english, and the sun shines out of their collective arse.

...That said, I may be just a tad biased.

To be fair, the tea-drinking stereotype has some truth to it. We do after all consume the second-highest amount of tea per head in the whole world, after Turkey (bizarrely).

I see them as normal people sprinkled with Football Hooligans, Posh gits and chavs. Although I hate the politician, the aristocracy, Army Generals or whoever plans where to invade and everyone who carries on that Britannia British Empire shite. Everyone else I am more or less ok with untill proved otherwise.

I've come to think of them as open, friendly and down to earth, from my MMO experience. Fun to play with. I love it when they say "mate", "Hey mate", "How you doing, mate" ... It just sounds so warm and fuzzy!

I really hate English accents. And I mean nearly all of the dialects.
Otherwise, yall seem like a pretty nice folk. For some reason, I always imagined a lot of you fellas with really red faces/noses. And tea, can't forget that.

The stereotype you spout for Americans depress me. We'll never outrun it, goddammit.

Thing is, you're probably thinking of the wrong accent.

I'm British. This is what we really look like:

Well, one of us anyway.
Well to be honest, not many people can tell all the small differences between accents. It may infuriate you, but all the accents in the U.K. sound very, very similar, to the point where anyone, not just Americans, can't tell the difference.

Not sure what my country at large (United States) thinks though.
If I had to guess what the country at large thinks it would be womanizing, tea-drinking, and flaunting their intelligence.
HOW DID YOU GET MY PICTURE! :p

Where does the womenizing part come from?
Mostly movies and TV shows. I don't let those define people from another country, but thats all a lot of people see of English people.

Plus there's James Bond. So yeah.

I like the English, it does seem like the general consensus is that ALL Americans are redneck dolts though.
No, no, no!
Only the SOUTH are the dolts, except for Florida, which are nothing but old people.

OT: Anyway, I kinda see the English as just normal People, but with accents and a love for fish and chips.

I'm an American so I don't think about the English.

Just kidding, I guess I think of the English (as a whole. Of course you vary greatly from place to place, economic circles and person to person like everywhere else) as a bit more sophisticated and mature version of America that got over that whole prick waving thing when you got your empire taken away. Hopefully someone will take our empire away and we can grow the fuck up at some point too.

Oh yeah, you have really good actors that can deliver even the most rubbish dialogue believably. And your accents make me giggle at even the simplest joke especially if you deliver it quickly.

OOOO, OOOO, OOOO, and it's bigger on the inside.

Most people from the Western world (Including Oz and NZ) seem to be very alike. There are stereotypes and minorities that bring a people's reputation down, but overall...
The major difference between us all is that we just haven't quite figured out how to mix beer and football.

I find the English to be a fine people, I prefer to ignore stereotypes due to the fact that I am an American and do not come close to how other countries see us.

We get stereotyped don't we. We don't all like tea that much - not in the posh sense... i see us as more of a beer/fish and chips and football nation. as for you Americans - something i hate about a lot of your people (but i know it doesn't happen on this site as we are all more educated in the world and communicate with one and another blah blah) is the ignorance of other nations. you have this patriotism that i admire but a lot of it is just silly - in the sense that so many Americans know nothing about the rest of the world but are still dead-set that they live in the best place on it. but like i said on this lovely website we don't have the side of America i don't like - much like we don't have the side of England i don't like.
Ramblings aside, i think everyone else sees us as a posh stereotype whilst we see Americans in a rednecky negative stereotype. any good person should see the good and bad in all people. that being said i dislike lots of people of my country :)
