I feel for the Aussies here. From what I can figure you basically have two options, since the tenets of democracy don't work in your country, see Michael Atkinson, you can either just let them censor your internet or you can get off your beaches/stop going to work/school/sitting around playing video games and protest your government. Get your asses up the capital building or whatever you have in Aussie-land and tell them you will not eat until they stop censoring your internet, give you a +18 rating and start treating you like adults. Fuck I know that doing nothing about anything is convenient but in the words of a great man "this shit will not stand". Seriously.
yeah, lets throw a tantrum until they treat us like grown ups

Oh FFS !!
Great, just great. You know this wont be the end of it.
This just sets the precedent and allows all sort of new bullshit laws to come in.

Where will it end now ?!
Ever read 1984 by George Orwell? My guess would be somewhere around there.

(P.S. excuse the slippery slope fallacy, it won't go that bad but my enter score fell just short of what i needed and im in a shit mood :(....i need a hug...)
The slippery slope argument is only a fallacy if you treat the end of the slope as inevitable. Treat is as opening a door to a potential and more likely outcome and it becomes effective. The point is that a principle has been broken, and that means that there is one fewer effective barriers against what is at the bottom of the slope.
i was trying to portray it as such, i was in the mood for extreme ranting :p see what this government has brought me to!! :'(

hmmmmmm we could attack the government with the freedom of speech law
Except that it doesn't exist. Freedom of Speech is only 'implied' within the Constitution, unlike England or US where it is implicitly stated.

Beginning to think that may have been a bad idea...

That's...
But...
I can't...
ARGH!
Now the search is on for a suitable profanity for this whole situation.
It'd have to be extremely polysyllabic.

I live in China, I have for the past 6 years. Internet censoring sucks. Youtube and Facebook are both blocked here, and so are all the porn sites. Government controls most of the stuff that goes through. Wikipedia regularly gets blocked as well.

If western countries are going to start this bullshit as well I'm going to get veeeery pissed.
may i ask, why would you Willingly live in communist China o_o
China wont let him leave!!

My condolences Australia.

Though everyone should realize that this will only spread. Especially when Acta goes through and everyone realizes how easy it is to pull off massive policy laundering.
