So I want to get demons souls, I've always loved RPGs and I've seen all the high praise its been getting. But will it frustrate me? What I mean is, is it hard to enjoy demons souls? Will I have fun?

It's real fun; just have guide on hand and mabye a friend to switch out with before you start to froth at the mouth.

Or have a easy game to play between session to calm your nerves.

That all said you should still buy; as you will love

It's easily my favo PS3 game. It's tough and unforgiving, but not really as frustratingly hard as people make it out to be. Just take is slow and check your corners.

Oh, and put the Demon's Souls wiki in your favorites. There's a lot of stuff in the game that you just won't find out without a guide.

It took me a while to really get in to it, but once I did, I had a blast.

Absolutely. In between the moments of intense satisfaction you receive by beating a section/level of a world, there's plenty of fun to be had. Even redoing the same bits isn't that bad because the combat is very satisfying and the game looks great.

There was only one spot that pissed me off and I wasn't enjoying myself. I was fighting a dragon for literally 40 mins. But that's an optional boss anyway.

Gah that Dragon! Fireing One arrow every few second for ages. I agree with the person that says about the guide.

I still remember almost losig it when I came back to the hub place and most of the NPCs had been terminated :(

I do admit though, it took me two attempts to get into it. The first try I loved it right up until I got to the other side of a bridge after the first boss and died. Then I tried again and died. And I did that about 5 more times. The same place Yahtzee stopped. Turns out, I wasn't supposed to go there yet. The next world was much easier.

Yes it is fun. Aside from a few parts like the above mentioned dragon.

It won't frustrate you much(f**k Maneater) if you are patient and learn enemies/environments.

No, it hates you and it wants to kill you. It wants to suck the life out of you until you just give up and cry in the dark.

Still it is very satisfying once you start winning.

Bought it a while back, and while I have only finished the tutorial and 1-1, which Im told arent particularily challenging, I still love what I have played so far. It's ridiculously tense for me: Either you run head first and get killed over and over, or you slowly walk through every corridor, your shield raised, expecting a red skeleton to tower over you any second. So when I played what I did play, I was on the edge of my seat, tense, focused and a little scared, even.

Yeah, get it. You'll love it.

I only got it last month because i heard it was so tough. It is really tough but i'd still recommend it! Also, you might want to get it soon cos Atlus may be closing the servers in October. You'll still be able to play it but you won't be able to see other people's ghosts.

It's insanely fun. It's no where near as hard as people make it out to be... I honestly think the difficulty thing is just a meme. It's got one fucking hell of a learning curve, but once you start to figure things out, it will all come easily. You'll be frustrated and confused at the start, and the feeling of losing all your hard-earned souls once or twice might make you want to throw your controller through the TV, but stick with things. As soon as you get past the learning curve, then you will be well-rewarded.

Oh, a few words of advice:
1) Don't listen to the people telling you to play with a guide. I would not use a guide on your first playthrough, as it really enriches the experience. Once you beat the game once without one, then you can go through it a second time and get all the items you might have not known about using one.
2) Make sure to learn to dodge. Dodging is your primary defense in DS. It's not like a traditional RPG where you rely more on soaking up damage: think of it more as DMC or something where you DON'T want to get hit.
2a) On that note: make sure your equip burden is no more than half its total, as once it is more than half, you will not be able to roll or dodge properly. Yes, that will mean having to run around with very light armor, or perhaps even naked at the beginning of the game, but being able to dodge is far better. Trust me on this one.
3) Think of Demons Souls as a memory game more than anything. That will make sense once you start playing the game.

It depends on the person really, if you enjoy a good challenge and overcoming big obstacles you'll love it, the game is totally unforgiving to the point that when you die it actually makes it harder.

I play a Knight in Dark Silver Armour and I only dodge if I hit the wrong button. My trusty shield combined with insane stamina and health aren't worse than dodging. In DS all depends on how you like to play best.

To answer the OP's question: How should we know if you like the game? Is it fun to play bingo? Well, for me it's one of the most boring things imaginable, but for a lot of people it's fun. Flavours differ, and if DS is fun for you can only be judged by yourself.

If it helps: The game is not as hard as people make it. But you need to be patient and careful. In DS you walk the way of the warrior: you need patience, concentration, training and respect. If you're willing to invest the time to develop those skills, than you will find an Action-RPG like no other.

I love it, had tons of fun. That being said, I find losing fun so my opinion probably isn't worth a whole lot.

Sorry, but yes, that is worse than dodging. Dodging is always better than soaking up damage. That is the only thing consistent across all builds, and one of the things that almost every single DS vet will agree with: dodging is always far, FAR superior than just soaking up damage like a hunk of meat. Not getting hit is by far your best option, primarily because heavy armor impedes stamina regeneration, which is a big, BIG no-no (as someone once said, stamina is the most precious resource in DS). You aren't playing the game wrong, but you are definitely playing it at a sub-optimal level.

Considering you start seeing diminishing returns on health and stamina past certain points in vit and end (50 and 40 respectively, I think), you probably don't have too much more health or endurance than most other builds around your SL, unless you are doing an NR build or something. Besides, why one would use the Dark Silver set over the Ancient King's set is just beyond me. The Ancient King's set offers almost four times the physical protection per unit of weight, as well as not fucking up your stamina regeneration. The only thing you are losing out on is magic defense, which isn't a problem since you can just use a DSS +5 and make up for any lost magical defense.

Seriously. Not dodging is a terrible move.

No, mainly because it makes people who beat suddenly think there amazing cause they beat "One of the hardest games ever made"

Far from it. Its pretty darn easy compared to other games. Its not a hard game, its very easy.

Yes, although there are a number of important things the game will conveniently neglect to mention to you. Demon's Soles (this should be the real name considering how often they'll curbstomp you) places substance over style in that it'll give you a VERY limited amount of moves and it's all in how you utilise them along with accessories that seem useless at face value. But even still, don't go in expecting anything to innovative.

Also, and I am not joking when I say this, but don't get the game if you can't go online. Steal your neighbor's wifi if you have too, but ensure you have some way to get online even though this gen's consoles (barring the Wii) are incredibily easy to do so with.

I had no trouble with the second section of the Boletarian Palace. :s I even did it on my very first character ever in the game, without first going to increase my soul level. Love the Knight. :3 You can go anywhere in the game you'd like, at any point in time, as long as you're skilled enough to kill whatever comes at you. Higher stats just make the game easier. All you have to do is time your movements on the bridge. Start sprinting as soon as the dragon swoops down to breathe fire, and you'll get across unscathed.

If you enjoy difficult games, Demon's Souls is definitely for you and you will love it. There will be parts of the game that seem dastardly unfair, but as soon as you get the hang of it, you'll wonder why you ever thought it was hard in the first place. But be warned, incase you get frustrated easy: This game is meant to fuck your shit up. You will die several times. There are many places in the game where you will be instagibbed by something incredibly unfair. The one, single most important thing to remember about Demon's Souls, is that "haste makes waste" is probably one of the most true things you'll ever hear about this game. Don't go through like a slug because you'll be killed for being too slow, but don't rush things. Patience is heartily rewarded.

Good points, I might have to consider that .. when Dark Souls is out ;)

The reason for not using the Ancient King's Armor is very simple, realy: I just played my first playthrough without a guide. I just didn't know this armor existed and now I'm on NG+ and haven't played this far. I beat 1-1, 1-2, completed 2 and I'm fighting the Manhunter at the moment. Considering I'm a melee fighter, I guess I don't have to tell you, how much balls this guy sucks ;)
