I loved it, but it wasn't perfect. The gameplay was pretty experimental, but it was simple and easy to control, although playing it with a D-pad got a bit tiring after a little while. It was fun, overall. I really liked the sense-move mechanic. The graphics were great. Now we get into the more controversial stuff...
First of all, the authorization thing. While it did get ridiculous sometimes, it's really no worse than finding a power up immediately before you need it in any other game. Adam's not only Samus' superior officer, but she looks up to him as a father figure, as well. And, hey, they're trying to investigate the ship, not kill everything! They're only using the amount of weaponry that's completely necessary to protect themselves. The Varia suit thing was kind of stupid, though.
Next, Samus' character. People complained that it was different from what she was before. Answer me this: what did we know about her before this game? That her parents were killed by Ridley and she was raised by Chozo. Any personality that she had was a fabrication of the player's mind, as well as the minds of the community. Where, in any of the games, was she a stoic badass with no issues? None, because we knew nothing about her. This was an experimental game, and I applaud the writer for actually giving Samus a personality and trying to make her seem more, y'know, human, instead of just a player avatar. Imagine the traumatic things that she had gone through and put yourself in her shoes; if your parents were killed by a giant dragon thing, and then you were attacked by said dragon thing and his lackeys multiple times and THEN you think, nay, KNOW, he's dead, but he just comes back to attack you again after you unknowingly let him live when you could have killed him with a single shot. You'd kind of break down, too, right? Her voice actor wasn't the best, but it wasn't that bad.
This is not a game you should be ashamed for liking. I found it pretty damn good, myself.
