Wait... the cutscenes of the game are unskippable?

All of that trash I've been watching on YouTube was not skippable? You were forced to sit through it or waste your time?

Well, this is just awful. At least if the gameplay is good and the cutscenes are skippable, the problem isn't that big. But, here we go, you have to watch them.

Just why?
well its only the first time. Its not the first game to use that policy

I can't afford a Wii right now. :( I want to play the prime games, but it'll have to wait until 2013 when I'm graduated from college. And I don't know who Team Ninja was, other than the guys that did Heavenly Sword (I think?) which I REALLY enjoyed.
Team Ninja is a japanese developer known for the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden games and also known for popularizing the "jiggles physics"(aka bouncing boobs) in video games and usually portraying women as sex fantasies in their games.

Ninja Theory on the other hand is an English/British developer from Cambrige, England who developed Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and upcoming Devil May Cry reboot.

People usually confuse these two developer because they both have ninja in their names.

Agreed. But, in my memory, it's the first game I've seen with cutscenes THIS BAD which doesn't let you skip them.

I could go on and on about how I didn't understand jack while playing MGS4 or how some of the characters made no sense, but at least I always had a choice of not watching the cutscenes. And I did. I have no right to demote the game because the cutscenes ruined it for me.

Here, the game's worst point is its story and it doesn't let players skip it.

The only game I remember really guilty of that was Assassins Creed, but the thing about that one is the story wasn't complete rubbish.

Sorry, I forgot that the majority of the cancer is in the cutscenes. I guess I was a bit overly pissed off at the shitty gameplay. Sure, go wild. Just be sure you have at least watched all the cutscenes.

I think you have to blame Sakamoto for that garbage since he is the primary reason why Other M suck hard.

Also have you read this article? [http://moonbase.rydia.net/mental/blog/gaming/metroid-other-m-the-elephant/article.html]

This pretty much sums up everything wrong about game's story.

Of course it's not wrong, everybody has different taste and this game caters to your interest, or maybe your just a very forgiving person. Either way, there is no negatives.

I don't hate this game but I do believe it to be a pile of crap because of the characterisation, story, change of design (it is more linear) and I don't find the Wii-mote comfortable.

Gameplay-wise, I can see people liking it. It's really when the plot and the Samus character assassination comes up that I question someone's tastes, because it invokes Twilight-levels of hate in me.

Yeah. I have.

Under the conclusion he presents, the story goes from ridiculous to pretty much insulting.

This is pretty much character murder now.

I don't want to sound racist here, but I think he wants Metroid to sell well not just in the west but also in Japan and since most Japanese males like submissive, demure women and see them as sex fantasies in their games. He made Samus a submissive woman that she needs authorization to use something even her life depends on it.

Even though I believe that Team Ninja doesn't deserve all the flak they receive for developing the game. Putting their name in the box is the final nail in the coffin for most people why this game sucked.

Yes. Adding a voice & a personality to character who doesn't have one(see Metroid Prime) is a just a clever retcon, which is cheating, basically. So liking the game is betraying the original character.

Absolutely not! And quite frankly I'm relieved to find someone else who doesn't completely hate the game. *cough cough*sheep*cough*

Sure there are a number of things about it I could complain about, and yes I will agree that Adam does come across as a douche, but none of these things are game breaking to me. Right now I'm at the infamous battle with Ridly, and yeah the "freak-out" scene is a little strangle, but not completely unjustifiable. After all I'm assuming Other M takes place prior to Fusion, and although Ridly does have an uncanny ability to return from the dead, he was blown to bits and then the PLANET his scattered corpse was on was blown to bits, so I'm pretty sure Samus didn't expect him to come back after that one.
Also for those who whine about Samus' character, with the exception of the "freak-out" scene, I don't really find her character in 'Other M' all that inconsistent with how I always imagined it. I always imagined her as a fierce, but not uncaring warrior type, which so far has been consistent, again except for the "freak-out" scene.
Also yes the whole Authorization mechanic is a royal pain, but nothing I can't live with.
I love your view of the "Hell run." When you look at it that way, it is quite funny. And the hell run itself was a particularly interesting challenge.
The only thing that still bugs me that I can't explain away is what the fuck is "Other M" supposed to mean?

You can enjoy whatever you want. However, Other M was a very flawed game in many ways, including gameplay, as all forms of combat quickly degraded to abusing the fact that you can invincibly dodge anything you like and return fire with a fully charged shot afterward. Even the supposedly hard postgame boss was pretty ruined by this strategy.

Enjoy what you want, it's pretty silly for someone to call you out on a crappy game ...unless it's like Shadow the Hedgehog, that isn't even a game, it's a glitch on a disc.

I personally hated the game because they made a worse Metroid Fusion with a pathetic Samus and terrible story and crappier controls. Is that to say it's a bad game? Well yes but some can see past flaws, after playing Prime I'd rather just play Prime to be honest.

You're allowed to like whatever game you want. Just because Other M might not be the most well received game ever, that shouldn't stop you from playing and enjoying it.

You can like the game all you want. I personally just find it's plot horrendous, Samus to made out to be a- You know what?

Just read This. [http://moonbase.rydia.net/mental/blog/gaming/metroid-other-m-the-elephant/article.html]

Also, what's with all the "hate just because of Yahtzee" crap in here? I haven't even watched his review of it yet.

Not really.

It's wrong for anyone to be mad at the story, though. What the hell did you expect from TEAM NINJA?

A tale of empowerment? These guys make Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden.
I've always wanted to ask - why does Team Ninja get all of the hate for the Other M story? The writer of the game is actually employed in Nintendo. He co-created Metroid.

If someone should be at fault, it's him.

OT: No, why, how is it wrong? It's not like it's some racist-propaganda game or something.
I was corrected on this earlier, but thank you.
