In bethesda games, if you press W and D/S at the same time, you begin to moonwalk. I HATE IT. The biggest immersion killer ever.

There are more than 20 000 buggs, about 7 in every quest, 10 around every scripted character, 20 around all the different kinds of creatures, more than a couple of 1000 graphical glitches, more than 500 dialogue based buggs and 10 for every scripted event. Is this a problem?
I honestly think it makes the game even more enjoyable.
Granted, I really like Bethesda, and I really like screwing around with game glitches and bugs, so...

:p

And I actually really enjoyed Fallout 3.

I wouldn't say better, though personally I enjoyed Morrowind more, I think I found it a little more lawless.
The kind of lawless when cops are running down the street screaming I KILL YOU for breaking a lantern or the kind of lawless where the villagers are mugging you back when you are trying to steal their clothes?
The kind...
Oh yeah, hahaha
The cops were a little touchy though, weren't they?
The dancing Indoril was so f'ing funny, unfortunately the place that particular video was hosted is long gone, though there have been others [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0wuXy2eVqs]...

Yeah, it works in morrowind, oblivion and fallout. For me, it is the most annoying thing ever. IS IT SO HARD TO FIX THIS????

They make very full games, they are enjoyable because of the richness of the content in the worlds they create.

The combat is usually mediocre.
The voice acting and animations are stiff and awkward.

Personally I prefer the styles of gameplay implemented by other RPGs more, however I have played and enjoyed many of their games...just doesn't seem like they have much of a desire to change the already iffy formula.

I love the fact that each player creates their own adventure within the games Bethesda have made. Players are forced to use their imagination. I guess the weaker the imagination, the blander the experience.

I like a lot of their games, particularly The Elder Scrolls series. I guess they could be better, but still. I'd say their strength is design- both of game and in a visual sense- rather than efficient coding or really good writing though.

I can't think of anything particularly bad about Bethesda other than the atrocius voice-acting (or distict lack there-of) in most of their games.

As for why people think Morrowind was better than Oblivion I can sum up my feelings about it one word: polearms.

Oh, and a more imaginative world, and a better travel system, and a better equipment system...

Basically, IMO, Oblivion was a dumbed-down RPG. Morrowind was more complex, and you were actually someone as opposed to some random prisoner that happened to be in the right place at the wrong time.

Oh, and more imaginative support characters/random citizens. And more factions to join. And better organized dungeons, each one was set and unique as opposed to randomly generated from a list of about5.

If I think of anything else I'll either add it or make a new post.

Bethesda does make some awesome games, but I have recently noticed why I don't have as much fun as I should in games like Oblivion and Fallout 3. The characters in their recent games are (mostly) complete garbage. Three Dog is the only character so far in any of Bethesda's games that I actually liked. The plots are also uninteresting for the most part, which is why most people have much more fun just roaming around the giant virtual worlds that Bethesda creates.

Why does everyone think Bethesda are crap for a game studio, i don't get it since, in my opinion, fallout 3 and the TES series wore awesome games.

Would really appreciate your help.

After reading some of your posts i would like to ask the question, why is Morrowind so much better than oblivion?

I've heard there was allot of complaint on the difficulty and the stiffness of the characters, any thoughts?

What about the mods and expansions whom will add-on to the gameplay.

There are more than 20 000 buggs, about 7 in every quest, 10 around every scripted character, 20 around all the different kinds of creatures, more than a couple of 1000 graphical glitches, more than 500 dialogue based buggs and 10 for every scripted event. Is this a problem?
Nothing that is not new to modern development graphic or theme heavy with a good dose of shallowness to back it up. I can ***** and whine about Bioshock being under deved and bugy but good lord there are more gameplay options in it than FO3 sure FO3 has more story and tis far easier to be a right bastard i it but past that the equipment is weak and core gamepaly elements can not hold up through a whole 30 + hour game.

If they did more to allow for weapons and equipment building a kin to TES spell building then it would have made all the other flaws that more bearable but holly hell the fraggin thing was released to early and unfinished.

Morrowind was imperfect masterpiece, Oblivion and FO3 are jizz on christ called art..... they are going through the motions but the end product just aint there like most devs who have burnt out and don't have the decency to move on.....

People complain a lot of the ending for Fallout 3, and the stiff characters in both F3 and TES, so that might be it.
The ending for Fallout 3 was, frankly, a huge crap out on an otherwise good game, to me. As for the stiff characters, they reallllllllllllllllllllllly need to work on that, although Fallout 3 showed some progress over Oblivion.

Bethesda is a pretty damned good game developer. I called them out on some of their bigger boneheaded mistakes in Oblivion and on the ending of Fallout 3, but they seem pretty responsive to the community. That's probably WHY they screwed up in Oblivion; they were overcorrecting problems in Morrowind. Oh and they will fix the ending in Fallout 3 with some DLC. Yeah it sucks we need to fix it with DLC, but I doubt they will make that mistake again.

I continue to have high hopes for thier future games.

I love Bethesda myself, but they seem to have this huge rift in the quality of their games. On one hand they do environments really well, and the background lore for these imaginary places sucks me in with its creativity and vibrancy. On the other hand they really need to hire some animators who actually know what they're doing. Every bloody piece of animation in their games is shite, especially in the context of a big, multimillion project. I've seen flash artists who can animate better then Bethesda's whole team.

Also, in contrast to the fantastic background lore Bethesda's so famous for producing, is their characterisation and quest writing. Its well below the standard of the lore, and every NPC feels like a walking statue with a dialog window.

Their games always suck me in though. I think they appeal more to my desire to collect than anything else, which is a pretty depressing thought.

O and it's my first post. It's a right old pleasure to meet you all.

Its because people love taking down any sort of sucess and jump on the "I hate everything" bandwaggon that has become oh so popular
I also love how people only seem to jump on the, "I hate everything," bandwagon when they see something as successful.

I don't hate Bethesda. Yeah, their character animations are a little stiff, and they don't seem to offer much reward for exploring their gameworlds, but at least they put the effort into making their games as immersive as possible.

The only thing I can't forgive them for is ending Fallout 3. I wish it was like Oblivion and just let you roam after the game was completed.

Between age/experience and consumption levels one can easily hit a burnt out level for mediocre games (though I iz not burnt out as much fcking mentally fried). I just call the lack of design and details out. FO3 has issues with dialog which would not be bad by itself but add up the bugs(missing NCPs,falling through the game world the rushed ending to get the game out early so they can sale the rest of it as pounds of flesh modern zombie gamers will eat up,lack luster equipment with zero customization I mean come on these are the people that made MORROWIND.....,rushed skill system, a game filled with 30+ hours of content but not enough variety and worth to keep the game interesting for that length of time. )
Oblivion suffers from alot of this as well.........

I want games to be better but they are damned to be shallow zombie fodder because most people(devs included) are content with their happy little bliss and do not demand anything other than Oh new game I give you money and bend over"...

They have above average level design but things just start going down hill fast as they are adding to much content and not enough qaulity control to ensure that the content is not spamerfiffic...

Weak AI,sub par visuals, lack luster equipment there is no immersion here its like a MMO its a time killer people are happy to pay though the nose for.....
