It a money thing. More advertisement, better score. But Zelda is a rare gems that i can said hasn't started getting bad. Yes, it always the same story with different character, there no timeline, a new gimmick each time, the same boss, etc. But it not holding them back. I have the same fun with OOT that i have with TP and even WW (even if nintendo has make a point to make sure we are not same on a large bound of water. YES i was 6 years old when i played SMB3 and that fucking giant fish leave a permanent mark in my psyche. Bite me!)

I've played Zelda 1, 2, Link to the Past, Ocarina, MM, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess. I fully enjoyed all of them. They all have their little bugs, but it's not going downhill for me.

I personally love every Zelda game i've ever played. Each of them has there own little things that makes me love them. And i have only beaten Wind waker. I'm not kidding i don't ever fallow the story most the time and i still have so much fun using link to make up my own adventures in hyrule of termina or the great sea. So my number 1 favorite things is how i can as i call it Goof off.

OoT introduced me to the series. I loved the horseback riding. I loved exploring Hyrule and trying to find things i hadn't seen before. It introduced me to charicters i will love for the rest of my life.

MM let me play with all the races of the game and as a kid though the whole game. (When your 8 years old, a game about a person your age going on an adventure is really exiting.) Riding epona as a kid and racing thouse ingo brothers, plus the great charicters and side quests.

WW gave me 49 islands to play on. Most of them giving you something fun to do. I'll add the playing as a kid thing agian since i was 12 playing as a kid = fun. I always had a story to tell when i played this game and unlike some of them they never seemed to get repetitive.

TP had such a fasinating world that you can lose yourself in. The wolf added more story making options. The side games like fishing and the snowbording were adicting. Agian the horseback played a big part in this, More then any other game.

What i'm trying to get across is you have to look at the little things that make these games speical. Each game is supouse to invoke a diffrent emotion with your playthoughs. It's like a fairy tale. 90% of the time it will end with the princess and the prince living happily ever after but you will be lying if you say you've never been charmed by a fairytale.

Zelda needs an overhaul. most of the games that are released in the zelda series are too similar to each other. you always get most of the same gizmo's, your always on the same quest to save zelda and beat ganon. I'd like to see some new territory. new villian all new devices new gameplay elements ect. i'm not saying you can't have classic elements but change things up more than just adding a gimic like the wolf thing in twilight princess. Windwaker was the most radical depature to the series norm i've seen but unfortuantly i was let down by the story. Here's an idea, how about a game where you play as Zelda her self?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No and if you cannot provide any good reason why it's going downhill, I will send rattle snakes to your underwear and have them bite your toes at night.

In some cases, yes Zelda is going down hill. In others, no Zelda's fine.

The cases that Zelda is going down hill is the handheld games, primarily Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. Both are okay games but don't really seem to be great as Zelda games. I believe this is due to the hardware. Okay, not really the hardware, but the controls of the touch screen. It is extremely annoying to move Link around and brush the stylus for the sword while we have perfectly good centimeters away. I fight with my thumbs, not with a pen.

In other cases that Zelda is fine, console games. I thought Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were genius, and Majora's Mask was brilliant. They certainly surpassed Ocarina of TIme for me. I'll agree, Ocarina of Time was freaking amazing. I'm not saying anything bad about it. However, The games after it were even better.

I don't think so. But I am a huge fanboy of the franchise. I loved the last console game as much as the other ones and the I still love all of the handheld games.

My favorite console game is OoT.
And my favorite handheld game Is OoA.

Ocarina of Time is still number one

Link to the Past is the 2nd best

Majora's Mask is the 3rd best

Oh yeah, it is definitely going down hill as well as Metroid, Donkey Kong, Starfox, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Party, etc.

Still good games but they could be a lot better.

I dont think zelda has gone down hill ive just lost interest in the series after i don't know how many sequels but i loved Oot and majora's mask the most. twilight princess just seemed like they tried remaking ocarina of time without the ocarina or developing any of the characters except for maybe the zora prince.

my opinions of twilight princess maybe coloured by the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia but seriously none of the characters seemed to get any real development.

TP was not as good as WW or OoT, but it was better then most games. I don't consider Zelda as going downhill so much as everyone wanting to show more praise on OoT with every passing year. Although I did feel TP to be lower on the scale of goodness, I haven't really seen a drop in the quality so much as standard deviation and flux between game quality.

Not really, what they need to do is make Windwaker sequel, for the Wii or re-release it.

My brother lost my copy... And it pissed me off that its sequels were on the DS as I don't have one XD

I Do sometimes feel Nintendo doesn't quite know what to do with the Zelda franchise next and to be fair I for one am getting sick of saving Zelda's incompetent ass xD maybe someone should teach her Kung-Fu or something.

But although Ive not played them First hand I can see some of all this pure cash cowing like say Mario Party, There was no need for that many per console after Mario Party 3 there was no real need for one and yea why cant they for the Wii now just roll all of the Mario Party Mini Games and Boards all into 1 HUGE Mario Party game and be done with it? Now that would be great to see!

Hell no. Yeah, Wind Waker is the best Zelda game IMO, but Spirit Tracks is awesome, Twilight Princess is awesome, and I'm pretty sure the new Wii one will be awesome. They aren't going downhill at all, but following up WW and MC will be tough.
