It is our light, not our darkness that we fear

C'mon elephant, you've been here long enough to know that if you're gonna say something, you need to elaborate on it. Two word posts will not do.
I need explain myself to no man.
Have fun explaining that to the mods.
Didn't I just say I don't need to explain myself?

Then again, I suppose Mods don't count as men. They are Gods. Furious, vengeful Gods.

And thanks for reporting me for that. Was that really necessary?

Or do we fear that we are all that we are cracked up to be?
Do we fear ourselves, that we're too strong?

Some people do. I know this for a fact.
Well, by all that we are cracked up to be I mean, all that we are. Our strengths come from our powers to control our evironment. Our ability to bend what is around us to suit our own desires. Our fears do not have to deal with our strengths. The two are in seperate planes. They can't really be compared conventionally.

Our fears have to deal with our weaknesses. We are scared of what we can't do. Because we can assure ourselves of what we can do, it is true that we can be scared of the evil we can do, or rather, the pain we can produce, but that doesn't mean we are scared of our power. It means we are more scared of producing more fear.

In essesnce, by comparing our fears with our strengths, you might say we are comparing a whale with an elephant. Both are massive, both are mammals, but neither can contend with the other, because they are both in different "planes" (one in the ocean, and one in the savannah). They can't really meet, seeing as how they are both MADE to not be able to interact. And if they do interact, it really can't be seen, seeing as how one will be dead in the other's evironment.

Sorry, I'm sort of arguing myself here as well. I pretty much just threw an arguement with myself there, who was trying to do compare the two. Just an aspect of me that I have developed...I'd speak about it, but I'm not sure if people would understand, look well upon it, or care in this thread...I do enjoy talking about it though...but for another time...

Really, how do you define your own light and darkness.

I'm afraid of huring someone by accident, but it's not my strength I fear, I fear nothing within me. I know my limits and I can control myself, but I fear the threat from without not within. I don't fear my own 'light' or 'darkness' I fear others.

You say " who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?" Honestly I've never heard anyone say that on my entire life. But then again most of the people I know aren't arrogant enought to go around saying they are 'brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous'(As for fabulous, I've don't know anyone gay enough to go around saying that) or that their presence automatically liberates others.

If you think your awesome, then good for you, if you decide you want to change the world, help people, and make a difference. Then even better. But this poem is retarded. IMO, anyway. Saying that man fears that he could be so good in bed that he kills his girlfriend. It's just arrogant.

Was that remark intended to be antagonistic? I was simply stating my opinion that I disagree with the poem. I apologize if you take offense to that.

I didn't report you, I was saying that if it were a more serious topic and you did that I would report you.
I was going to say that I'm sure you did since you said "Have fun explaining that to the mods." and I received a "Forum Warning Notice", but I checked and noticed that I received the notice a minute before you posted. You still could have done it (and I'm sure you see why I put those things together to come to the conclusion that you reported me before checking the times) but I'm no longer so sure.

Well, someone reported me. Whoever it was, I hope they do the same thing every time they see a post that's a bit sparse or in some other way could possibly be objected to, as opposed to having a bias against me. I know that if I did that, well, I would have reported a lot of people.

Maybe a mod was just browsing this thread and didn't like your post. By the way, what did you notice say? Was it something along the lines of 'you've been warned about zero content posts'?

I'm just curious.

I like to embrace a happy medium between modesty and confidence.

Once I would have stood back and let people degrade / threaten / etc others, now, not so much. I also quite liked the poem despite my lack of religion and it's religious connotations.

I'm not the most confrontational person I know, but I do try to help others. I'm inevitably a nice person.

I don't think so, I've seen worse posts go untouched just because no one bothered to report it. If the mods do that sort of thing themselves I would think I'd see a lot more of those altered or something. I attracted someone's attention.

The religious connotations are my least favorite part, they taunt me by saying that it is only through the grace of god that humans can achieve greatness. I refuse to believe that.

I think if a God existed, he/she/it would want us to achieve our own greatness. Otherwise, he/she/it would just be a condescending dick.

Inappropriate. I apologize. /:

No, it isn't.

Ask anyone who has some real darkness which they fear more. Because yeah, I'm totally more afraid of helping mankind and reaching for the stars than I am of being driven mad by bloodlust, beating a man to death and spending my life in prison.

Following that poem's advice literally is a good formula for becoming a self-important tosser.
agreed

Maybe I'm interpreting this poem too much, but somehow it has a very egotistical vibe about itself.
We're not supposed to show any consideration towards others because, in the end, it's good for them. What?
The way I read it, it sounds like a request for elbow-mentality, because it's better for society in the long run (captalism in poem-format).
While I partially agree, I don't think it's good poetry-material.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
That line is what hits hardest for me. You seriously dont know how stupid that line is. The power that lies inside me, that deep-seated insanity. It truly is something to be feared. Ive only let go of the Lycan a few times, and each time its been enough to scare me shitless. I hate it, I hate losing control, I hate my anger, and most of all I hate what I become. Its a primal thing, the Lycan. You cant control it, you cant tame it, you cant tell it when to come back, all you can do is let it free until all the hate and anger you've been harboring is burned out. Its truly, truly a frightening experience, and I hope no one else here wishes for that kind of power.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear... And when it is gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear is gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
