What's worse than fanboys?

Dogmatic haters.
I agree for the most part, but the two are not always mutually exclusive.
They are rarely, if ever, mutually exclusive.

I still cannot fathom where all the Halo hate comes from in gamer circles.

I almost feel sorry for Bungie, but then I look at thier earnings from the franchise and take a wild guess that they really, really don't give a shit what some random, pissed off internet nerds think.

James Cameron recently said in an interview that halo fanboys need to stop trashing his latest movie Avatar. He says that they keep complaining about Avatar being too much like Halo and that he copied the series.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Cameron has had the idea of Avatar since 1996.
All though pocahontas came out in 1995, sooo (that movie is just space pocahontas). i do agree that halo fanboys need to shutup though.

wow and i thought i was a fanboy thats a little bit over the top cuz halo is good but no where near avatar. but at the same time it strikes me as a little bit of trollish (nothing against you) but the article as a whole doesn't seem right

It's the space marines right because anything with space marines is a halo rip off right? Even if space marines came before halo.

Maybe Cameron just wanted Halo fans to shut up in general?
Who doesn't want that?
Even if games workshop (warhammer 40K) was the truly first "space marine," 25+ years ago

The story has nothing to do with what made the movie great. In my opinion, it just makes it that much more astounding that Cameron was still able to create such an amazing film with such a cliche, overused story.

Sounds like the guy can't take any fucking critism.

Shit, there stories of people wanting to commit suicide because they can't live on Pandora, and this guy is focusing on 1 minor group of idiots. (Fanboys in general, not just Halo)
What stories?

As an enormous fan of both Halo and Avatar, I suggest everyone calling either a ripoff consider an alternative; maybe Halo, Aliens and Avatar are just set in the same, gritty, realistic sci-fi style? Admittedly, Cameron invented that with the Alien series - the Nostradamos is the most unbelievably realistic ship in cinema history, if you ask me - but saying these franchises ripped each other off seems sort of like calling Left 4 Dead a ripoff of Resident Evil because both have zombies.

3 words: fanboys are dumbarses
Pretty much, halo fanboys really can't think for themselves and just sort of think that halo invented everything.

I was actually reading something from a halo fanboy who claimed Halo had INVENTED the FPS genre. i didn't know if i should laugh or just be disturbed.
I would've showed him an image of wolfenstein 3D, laugh, and be disturbed.

Ummmmm......... The Hornet was what Cameron copied from Halo and that was never in Aliens.

Also Avatar sucked, so shut up James.
avatar didnt suck. besides, ever seen aliens? that ship the marines flew in looks exactly like a pelican from halo. maybe you suck
The story was totally ripped off, the ending was the biggest bullshit win in the history of bullshit wins, the Na'vi were so dam good that there was no development, the humans were so laughably evil that I was giggling through the whole movie, the Na'vi girl acted like a twelve year old having a hissy fit and in some ways the colonel was right. Jake turned hid back on his planet and his entire race because he got some alien tail.
I will admit that the CGI and 3D was amazing and that while I may have overstated that it sucked, it wasn't THAT good.

P.S. I love aliens and while I agree that the Pelican is completely ripped off, the Hornet belongs to Halo. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Avatar Hornet, but it was copied.
sounds like a personal problem
What do you mean? The story is still horribly ripped off.
ripped off of what?
Do you want the list?
Off the top of my head,

Pocahontas.
Dances with Wolves.
Atlantis.
Battle for Terra.

And many others.

Also, don't use the "But Cameron had this idea a long time ago excuse." Those other movies were made first.

I'm surprised how everyone here quickly dismisses and insults the fanboys when there is one question: Who the hell said that Halo fans were criticizing Avatar? I sure have never seen or read anything like that.
It must have been something big if the director got angry at people who, with all his money, he could arranged to have killed. Seriously, I have no idea why he even bothered with them.

actually NO i didnt want the list.
actually, cameron's influence for the movie was the iraqi war and the native americans.
Well then he should have done more research. The story has been done so many times before that it's become dull, weather it was ripped or not. Also, if it was based of Iraq and the Native Americans, he should have added what both of those had. TWO SIDES! No real story is black and white, and any movie or game that is, is hardly ever good. I mean, Bioshock had it's ending get ridiculed because it was too black and white. Avatar was the worst victim of the Black and White syndrome.
